True, though with the 15" Air that means they will now have two entry-level laptops instead of just one, and maybe they don't need the 13" Pro in there (honestly I kind of hate the AS 13" Pro on a conceptual level, just because it screws with the neatness of the lineup by being called "Pro" yet having an entry-level chip and using an old design, so that might explain my bias in thinking it'll be discontinued). But then again they may still want to milk the 13" Pro for as long as they can.

No. MacBooks are countable. Therefore, some is more than one in this case.

Can you find a dictionary definition that supports that? Gurman is known for his plain English writing. If he meant more than one, he would have said that. It's clear to me, "some" in this case means at least one. And in particular the 15-inch model.

To believe M3 is coming, you'd have to ignore the multiple publicly announced statements from TSMC that N3E won't reach volume until H2'23.

Does anybody seriously believe Apple is using base N3 process for their big M3 chip or TSMC is sandbagging?

Let's also look at the optics of this.

"Good morning everyone! Please marvel at our state-of-the-art $3,000 headset with M2. Oh, BTW we're introducing M3 today."

There won't be a mix of M2 and M3 at WWDC. Either M3 is not coming until later (the more likely situation) or everything released at WWDC will have M3.

Gurman doesn't know anything. If he did, he would have been sued by Apple and be in jail for leaking company secrets.

One easy to explain reason
Analysts say Mac sales are down 40% as post-pandemic PC sales slump continues

Accepting trade-ins may very well be a method to try to drum up more sales.
I hope they take Mac Studios in trade soon too, it might get them a sale from me. :)

Edit: I see in that new rumors thread the Studio will be eligible for trade in because an M2 will probably be announced. I'm trading mine in because of the whine, and I'll probably get an M2 Pro maxed out Mini to replace it. that'll probably be enough unless the new version of the Studio is a bit cheaper. (yeah, right)

Sorry, Apple, but i'm not going to pay 1750E for a basic M2(meh upgrade) Macbook air. Even with the new design.
Add M3 cpu & keep the new design and i might rethink.

Some indefinite pronouns — such as all, some — are singular or plural depending on what they're referring to. (Is the thing referred to countable or not?) Be careful choosing a verb to accompany such pronouns.

Example:
Some of the books are missing.
Some of the oil is gone.

MacBooks are countable. Therefore, “some” in this case means more than one. This is basic English.

Gurman is a journalist and he has editors. He should know how to use “some” correctly.

He 100% meant more than one laptops. He first gave a list of laptops Apple is working on. Then he said at least “some” will be unveiled at WWDC. In this case, “some” is most certainly plural. Otherwise, he would have just used “one” since MacBooks are countable.

One top of that, the next sentence literally starts with, “The models coming in June”. I don’t know how it can be more clear.

Why would they put an M2 in the VR device if they’re announcing M3?

They would put an M3 in there.

Why do you think he joined Bloomberg in 2016?

Isn’t Bloomberg selling financial information?

Then he is most likely spreading opinions which moves the stock price in such a way that it benefits Bloomberg their clients / investors.

If he really had inside information of Apple, he would have been sued by Apple and shut dowm.

That certainly goes against a recent rumour of an M3 13" Pro model, though with how all over the place it's been lately who knows...

Somehow I missed this rumor.

So now we have rumors saying it will come with M2 or M3. But it makes far more sense that an M3 chip would be used.

Also, there was a whole stink about Gurman speculating that it will be M2 because some test logs showed the same core count as M2. Except that it'd make more sense for the M3 to have the same number of cores as the M2. M4 should increase cores.

make more sense from our side of view doesnt mean it will happen...Macbook air 15" will be based on M2, unfortunately

Why would he have signed an NDA with apple?

Guys like Marques Brownlee, who do 100% know what is going to happen, as he gets send review units weeks in advance, are not leaking information because he would be in all kinds of legal trouble with Apple if he did.

So that is how I know he doesn't know anything and it is just "opinion pieces" that he writes.

But maybe I am wrong and this guy will soon be in jail.

He has sources either from the inside or analysts in the supply chain. That's different than Apple sending a product to Marques Brownlee a week early for a day one review and making him sign an NDA to not reveal it earlier.

I agree, releasing another M2 Air in June, then a new M3 (OLED?) 13" in October or November is going to create a mess Apple could do without, while spring 2024 seems really late to launch the 3rd generation of Mac chips. If it's true that they've been making the chips since late last year they should have built up a reasonable inventory by now, even if yields have been low.

That's just down right embarrassing for Apple. I don't know how else state that, Apple's most powerful and upgradeable computer is on intel and they've not yet produced an ARM based replacement.
I've noticed something about Apple's development process for products over the years. It's kinda last minute start from scratch kinda process.

- Mac OS X on Intel - this was someone who happened to compile OS X on a working x86 PC in a few hours and someone brought it up to Jobs attention. Its not like this was even strategic mission to switch to Intel. Its when they realized we are not gonna have a 3 GHz G5 and we'll never bring G5 to laptops they kinda made the last minute decision to switch to Intel.

- Trash Can Mac Pro - the mea culpa for this one was in 2017 and they didn't bring something to market until 2019, basically 3 years after. They likely realized the problem in 2015, but an actual plan didn't start until 2016.

- iPhone 4 and antennagate - I think they knew about this long before it launched, but thought how bad it could be? But fixed it by the 4s.

- Lamination issues with Retina MacBook Pro's - this was a notorious issue for the 2012 to 2015 MacBook Pro's, but it suddenly stopped with the 2016 Touch Bar MacBook Pro's.

- Butterfly keyboards - Apple kept at this for years and didn't actually have a solution until the 2019 16 inch and early 2020 MacBook Pro's.

What all of this is telling me is, Apple don't see the error of their ways until the product is actually released. In the case of the Apple Silicon Mac Pro, its basically 2013 all over again and what I think they had to do was actually start from scratch with Apple Silicon once again to engineer a product that fits the market needs of the user. Which means, it must be expandable and needs to play nice with other third party GPU's, needs to support RAM upgrades and storage, too.

2020 marks three years since Apple Silicon came to market. What that tells me is the Mac Studio and Studio display is analogous to the 2017 iMac Pro, a stop gap product. The iMac Pro came out in December of 2017 and the Mac Pro became available in December of 2019.

This suggest, work on an expandable Apple Silicon Mac Pro likely started in 2021, so, if its taking three years, the Apple Silicon Mac Pro is likely gonna be released in March of 2024 with M3 Ultra.
