So they counted the Pro and Pro Max separately but put the base iPhone and plus models together, I think that's unlikely!

Back before the plus models were even released the base model was still the best selling iPhone yearly so it's not surprising it still is now.
I said I don’t know, but it is strange that counterpoint makes no mention of the plus models. Not even to disparage it as a failure due to low sales.

It is possible they counted plus and base models as one, and it is possible they have not. We don’t know because counterpoint makes no reference to the plus models whatsoever, which in itself is bizarre. 😂

For all the people attacking marques for his points of view and his opinions on the matter, the amount of views and clicks his content generates paints a rather different picture. A lot of people are interested in what he has to say.
No one is attacking him, merely pointing out that views and clicks does not translate into sales of mobile phones. Hence his opinion doesn’t really matter when it comes to smartphone sales.

Case in point his opinion on one plus phones;

One plus is pretty much dead as an Android brand. Bbk is pulling it from the market as we speak. 🪦

Glad I never decided to buy a One Plus phone, it seems that they are pretty much going to be extinct soon.

Oh, I have UAG Civilian too, didn’t really like it though because it’s kinda plasticky and not like my old Civilian case for 11 Pro, but smh it seems like it actually didn’t heat phone as much. Will probably switch back to it and test, maybe silicone case is the issue.

I mean it is not really overheating but becomes unpleasantly warm to touch, something like 42-45° Celsius in the body and maybe up to 47° in plateau (where all main internals are). So it never shows me the messages like “let the phone cool down” but I’ve had it drop the brightness to minimum a few times.

Well, gotta test more!
I prefer the TechWoven case over my UAG one based on appearance, but the UAG case is really grippy. I used to drop my 17 Pro at least once a week with my TechWoven case, but I have probably dropped it once in four months with the UAG.

I purchased my 17 Pro on 9th October and the battery health is still at 100% 9 months later. I use the Apple MagSafe charging puck to recharge my device wirelessly.

They weren't mentioned because they didn't sell enough to make the list of best selling phones!

Why is it strange that a list of top selling devices doesn't mention one with poor sales?

marques is a useless reviewer tbh. i even get my info off the tech chap, max tech, 9-5mac, macrumors as examples they go more into depth into why you want that phone over this etc and do brutal tech reviews... he just say whatever pleases everyone... and people drink that which i don't

Funny how you mention Max Tech, one of the most derided channels here on MacRumors. I don't like his style of videos, but still check it out now and then.

Welcome to 2025.

But to be honest, even in 2026 is a very good recommendation if you don’t want to spend more money on the 17 Pro. It is “the iPhone” to get until Apple presents the 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, and the foldable 18 Ultra in a few months.

Probably Apple will keep selling the iPhone 17 in September at the same price as before (or with a slight increase), but I’m pretty sure they are looking to shave costs as much as possible, getting cheaper components or something like that. It’s going to be one of the best sellers during the next holidays in the absence of the regular iPhone 18…

Because, after so many years as a tech-tuber, being one of the first ones in YouTube, he no longer has anything to demonstrate. So he can just post videos sharing his opinions, as millions of viewers value it.

He may be right or wrong, you may share his opinion or not, but he’s a consolidated voice in the tech media. So he goes ahead and share his opinion, giving his reasons, and that’s it.

Anyways, I don’t think he’s ever been the analytical type who posts in-depth tests to show how the devices behave, running benchmarks, measuring the heat with a thermal camera… I like those videos too! But it’s just MKBHD’s style. He’ll just say “I noticed that while working on this laptop, it got noticeable hotter than the previous one I had”, if he’d noticed it.

If you like those analytical type of videos, let me add one more to your list: https://m.youtube.com/@SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE

tech chap is okay as a tech reviewer but he isn't my first port of call as the the tech reviewer I will first go to.

Max tech is very much apple bias in his content and everytime I see him talk about about upcoming iPhone's, he always says in his titles 'this will destroy Android' or something along the lines of that in which it obviously isn't going to. I just watch him for his comparision videos or his teardown vodeos that he does.

9-5 mac is pretty good as first source of information tbh.

MKBHD is meh as he isn't too informative like othe others but he isn't bad that he is just push on bias.

Considering he's had many features and fairly considerable awards for his content, together with (medium to) high engagement on surveying and usual content I certainly think many people listen to him.
To say many people spend time watching his content but are then not considering it after that is already a contradiction.
I'm not a fan of his or his other ventures, but you sound like you have a personal problem with him and that's unfortunate but why spread your disdain instead of something worthwhile?

17 Pro. 7 months. 95 cycles. Battery Health Normal / Maximum Capacity 100%. I turn off charging limits, turn off optimized battery charging, and turn off clean energy charging. Spigen clear Magsafe case. Only charge wirelessly.

Flossy Carter and White Shoes... member of the Apple Mafia and Samsung Knights... tech specs and hands-on impressions. I watch the MaxTech comparisons if I can get through them. Wasn't bad a year or two ago, but now everything is over-the-top... "Dayyyyyuummm!" "Holy Smokes!" reactions, thumbnails, clickbait titles, rehashing the same leaks for months on end. Would be nice if they could just tone it down a bit.

If you're barely using your phone, why not use a charge limit?

I want 100% juice all the time baby! 🙂 I use it quite a bit but it’s always on a MagSafe charger at my desk and it’s always on a MagSafe charger in the car. So for those times I’m not in the car or at my desk I don’t want to start any adventures at 80% juice. You ever have to visit the in-laws on 80% juice?!?! No thanks! 😉

If you're not looking at Tech Spurt for phone reviews something has gone wrong. He reviews everything that comes out with both depth and humour.

I don't blame MKBHD for his opinion on the 17 being as good as the Pro. Tbh I still have the 15 Plus and I cant think of one thing the 17 / 17 Pro does significantly better than the 15 Plus. These phones are just tweaks these days.

@JiggyJaggy

It’s significantly more powerful, has better cameras (including a front camera), and then QoL features such as Pro Motion along with other features such as the always-on display, etc.

To the regular user who doesn’t use their phone for AAA gaming or some kind of pro workflow, there’s very little difference in day-to-day usage.

Wouldn’t that be with a mention though. 😂

Doesn’t mention an “iPhone” with poor sales, now that is bizarre. 🤣

@Andeddu Agreed, all of those things I really don't notice in all honestly. Im defo an average user albeit I use the phone alot all day, but mainly calls / texts and a little browsing / Insta etc. I honestly cant see a marked difference in the camera, they are all so good these days.

The Always on Display is great, but I don't need it. if anything it makes me keep looking at my phone! lol
