if you're trying today the steam servers are pretty overloaded.

You could buy games from steampowered.com so you could get the deals, then sort out your steam client issue later.

Installed the porting teams port of Steam so I could run Windows games, and bought 9 for $12.98 or so, 4 run on Mac, the other 4 run perfectly under my ported version of Steam. Have 6-7 games I definitely want to get, waiting to see if they get daily sales.

I freakin love this time of the year. I've bought around 9 games so far, almost depleted my wishlist! It was great singing in yesterday and seeing the sale was now on and that it tells you how many of your wishlist games have been discounted.

Defense Grid is £1.40 today. I've put around 60 (or was it 80) hours into that game. One of the best tower defence games I've ever played.
