Remembering and studying the past so the same mistakes are not made again...not that it is going very well...lol.

No offense to the younger crowd; but those who fought in WWII are heroes -- there are not a lot of people in the same age bracket today that would do what they did.

I am enjoying the series so far, but it is also making me sad knowing the sacrifices that were made.

They still, deservedly, are called the greatest generation.

Well, I don’t see any legitimate reason Apple would promote this specific show for that specific reason. I also don’t see any credible motivation for Apple to manipulate these numbers generally since streaming content isn’t central to their business strategy. Apple isn’t like Netflix. Apple is like the old HBO or FX. They’re in it for the prestige, not profit.

Again not sure what the hangup is over "this specific show" lol, who cares? Apple are in it for the profit, not prestige. You can just go listen to Tim Cook on previous AAPL earnings calls and verify ATV+, Apple Arcade, etc. are all about boosting Apple's position as a services company as well as a hardware company. Software services are a holy grail business model for a reason.

Helps me remember my father’s stories, he was in the pacific campaign signal corp and was loading the invasion ships until the second drop and surrender.
Most of the history he took with him to the grave, only heard bits and pieces and a few photos.
He liked to watch the history channel wwii programs and he would comment as we watched them. His brother was in Europe but came home ok.

My father was in the Philippines and scheduled to be in the seventh wave of the invasion, until the bomb of course.

Apple did not provide details on the exact number of viewers, but the show beat out popular Apple TV+ offerings like The Morning Show and Severance. Masters of the Air features the 100th Bomb Group that performed dangerous aviation raids in Nazi Germany.

I'm looking forward to this series as my father was a B-17 pilot who fought fascism in Europe.

I’m looking forward to watching the series. In my very non professional opinion the B17 was one of the greatest planes as measured by its ability to take damage and still bring the crews back alive.

Yes! Some of them came back from missions without a tail, or piece of wing missing, failed engines, or a large piece of the nose missing. Boeing built them very robust!

I think I've seen this is billed as "Part III" to "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific." How does it hold up to the other HBO miniseries?
was wondering the same, i have both series on Blu-ray but have yet to watch them maybe i will stop being lazy and throw them in

Curious. I wonder how much longer WWII dramas will be relevant? We’re approaching a time when no one from the war era survives. I’m a little surprised that the demand for WWII related content continues to draw so much demand.
I don't think you understand history and it's relevance to the current world.

WWII has more appeal than the wars that followed.

Oh I thought this was a movie... it's a series? 🙄 suddenly any vague interest I had in it vanishes...

anything to keep people subscribed long term huh? I wonder if it actually needs to be series or if it's chock full of filler

I've watched all of Band of Brothers and all of the episodes of this show that are out. I haven't watched all of The Pacific -- I couldn't get into it for whatever reason. I rank these shows: Band > Masters > Pacific.

I think it’s a bit unfair to compare all three series as they’re different theaters of war, and have been approached accordingly from a direction POV. The Pacific portraying just how grimy, muddy, wet, hot and relentless those islands were.

Loving MotA so far; a must for any AVgeek or WWII buff.

I feel that all three are excellent and tell different experiences of the war. Most people seem to be most familiar with the war in Europe and the Band of Brothers stories .The Pacific opened my eyes to a part of the war many of us knew little about. Masters of the Air introduces another part of the war many know little about. These guys went thru hell and knew they would most likely never make it home.

Every high school student should watch all three of these series. It might make them appreciate what they have today.

This is not Band or Brothers or The Pacific. It's a cliched, meandering, boring mess with uninteresting characters giving lackluster performances. This isn't even close to being in the same league as of Band of Brothers.

Calling this 'Part 3' of those series is like calling "The Marvels" 'Part 4' of "The Avengers". If you sign up to Apple TV for this show expecting it to be HBO quality, you're going to be disappointed.
