iOS is a toy. A cheap one. And I'm writing this on my iPhone 5.

Good job Google! They are improving every aspect of Android with every new release. I really love this clever new design. Elegant and simple. I hope all apps start to use it.

Again, this i very subjective.

I really like Tim Cook and his direction. One of my most favorite interviews of him had him being asked "What was the most important advice Steve Jobs left you with?" and Tim Cook replied "Not to try to be like him."

I think Jobs would've been proud. I wish I could find that interview again...

I like Tim Cook over Steve Jobs.

There. I said it. Steve was amazing but getting rid of Forstall and apologising over maps, giving iOS plug-in support(stuff like custom filters in the native Photos app) 3rd party keyboards etc.

I really don't think Scott Forstall would open it up as much as Tim allowed it to become.

God guy Tim.

I mostly like Google's new direction, I just don't like the font they use in Android, it's so close to being nice, but it just looks... off? I can't put my finger on it, but it bugs me.

I get what you mean with the font.

It's a bit in-between. Otherwise Android L already seems like a massive step up.

I get a little perturbed with Apple releasing new versions of iOS and basically making no actual changes. Adding new apps to your software doesn't justify a version upgrade in my book.

I don't recall Apple suing Google over L or the chrome cast. Or Android in the car.

I'm telling ya, Tim hasn't initiated a completely new lawsuit it's people like you holding the image that Apple sues everyone because of Steve Jobs.

To that I say "let it go"

Jobs has been dead almost 3 years and Apple is still suing. Jobs was gone when the Samsung lawsuit started with one claim of suing for using a rectangular shape, or whatever the correct wording was.

Wait, you seriously think that current law suits would immediately end as soon as Steve Jobs died? Nope. The point is Tim Cook hasn't initiated ANY new law suits. The law suits that possibly started after Steve is all Steve's "work" that for possible reasons could not be stopped for certain reasons.

Seriously any lawsuits can be stopped anytime. Just that apple is a sore loser to continue these despicable lawsuits because it cannot win over its competitor in the marketplace.

You think there are no actual changes in iOS 8 from iOS 7?

Seriously?

At 16 I don't expect you to understand anything about lawsuits.

You bet I am. Especially compared to make updates of other OSs

Then you really don't realise how huge iOS 8 is.

Really? It solves one of the chief complaints about iOS- apps can't talk to each other, I can't share to 1 billion apps like I can on Android etc.

App extensions are one of the biggest changes to come to iOS yet.

And of course the third party keyboards. The new Spotlight etc...

I always felt Matias Duarte helped make a great design with Palm's webOS. When he got hired by Google, I knew Android would improve from a design aspect especially when Ice Cream Sandwich arrived. I remember Matias got interviewed on The Verge with his good pal, Josh Topolsky. He said iOS looked cartoonish and Windows Phone looked like signs in the airport.

Personally, I like the overall design of Android ever since ICS with steady improvements to JB and KK. Apple is still going through a transitional phase from Scott Forstall to Jony Ive's more flat look. But I actually do like some of the new transition effects from iOS7. It has grown on me. But a 3rd party launcher can always mix it up for me with Android. I tried many including the WP8 launcher and the 3D UI one, but I always go back to Nova for the gesture actions.

Overall, I'm looking forward to Lollipop or Lemon Pie or whatever L-release they will call it. Google doesn't rest on their laurels. Consistent improvement year in, year out since Matias Duarte came on board in 2011. Can't always be said for Apple.

TechGod you are 16?

This explains a lot of your postings all over the forums...

Here's an idea. Don't think of my age regrading this. Read the content.

Least I know am aware of how bloody judgemental adults are.

Sorry if this was taken out of context.

I heard that if you get the Google Home L apk you can enable the Material Design UI on a rooted device by changing "REL" to "L" has anyone tried it successfully yet? I tried it on my nexus but it remains the same

Take a look at the following lists of new features in iOS 8 and Android L, both provided from the same website, and tell me which is more extensive.

All the New Stuff in iOS 8

All the New Stuff in Android L

And please, none of this 'such and such OS had that feature first' because it's completely irrelevant to the discussion. I'm not comparing OS's to each other, or making any claims that one is superior to another. The context here is your believe that iOS made no actual changes vs. the previous version and doesn't warrant an upgrade.

Yes, I also realize neither of these lists are comprehensive for either update but I think it's fair to say they both cover the most impactful changes. In fact, at quick glance I don't believe the iOS list even includes extensibility.

Pretty funny how the tables have turned in discussions on forums like these. Apple's most significant change to their mobile OS last year was a fresh coat of paint and they are roundly criticized yet the follow year, Android's most significant change is a fresh coat of paint and they're hailed for it.

there are under the hood android L changes (and that's what I'm most excited about)
ART is significant, apparently more significant than the version included in Kit Kat
Audio latency has had significant improvements as well according to the androidpolice articles, which is one of android's weaknesses for sure
usb audio support is finally included in stock android
project volta, for battery life / optimization seems like probably the biggest thing, along with ART

I really don't care about aesthetics, but I am still excited for L :p

We arent being judgemental. Nobody is saying you are dumb at all. I dont feel that way anyways. Like i said in another past post, when you are an adult at our age, you will see what we mean. Its just we can see the youth/inexperience in some of your posts. When it comes to tech, you seem to have a grasp thats maybe better than some of us older guys but general life, and things outside of tech, you do not. Your lawsuit comment for example, was wrong.

Fair enough, the only reason why I said what I did was because I'm seeing way too many teens being judged by their age and then not taken seriously even if they are correct.

iOS 8 is an incremental improvement over iOS 7. Yes, they added features, but true OS updates should make iOS 8 iOS 7.1.
