I have been going back and forth on 14” and M2 Air as well. I picked up an M1 Air a week before M2 was announced, returned it. Got a 14” base during Best Buy sale last weekend, received next day. Now, I can return that and order M2 Air with 16gb and 512, but that will only be $180 diff which makes all the benefits of the 14” well worth it. The single thing I’ll miss is the lighter weight, which is surprisingly noticeable.

For ref, would go with 16gb in Air as I code on it and currently learning/practicing with ML and NLP (such as voice to text) and non structured data scraping (mostly pdfs).

sounds a little tiring lol.... so best buy return is only two weeks... you will be waiting quiet some time for the M2A!

First of all, thanks to all of you responding :)..

So, i am using it for editing photos (maybe in the future editing a bit video stuff for short vlog (~1mins) and other related stuff. Means Lightroom / Photoshop are things i use regulary.

I am noch techguy - that's why i dont have a feeling what those 2 more cores would do (for the related pricetag).

Greetings
So I think for this regard the 8 x 14 will be fine and not worth to put +200€ in?

Thanks in advance :)

OR, he's probably just enjoying his new MBP! I always find it funny how people try to think the air is as powerful as a pro, it is not not will it ever be! Just like an ipad is not a computer... some things are just certain. 🌤️

Should start with 16GB base :(
No that would raise the starting price to $1399. Some people don’t want to spend that much and most people don’t need that much RAM.

A good example is I bought my mom the base model 8/256 M1 last year. The only reason I bought it was because of the lower spec model was available.

I was torn between the two models as well, but I ended up going with the MBP 14 via Costco. The $200 off helped with my decision.

Hi everyone,

Is very difficult for me to make a choice between MBP or MBA, because there is not a big price difference.

In my county the MBP cost 2284 dollars and the MBA with upgraded ram to 16 gb. is 1900 dollars. And if I choose the MBP I also get 512 GB SSD instead of 256 GB in the MBA.

Is this a no brainer, to choose the MBP or what do you guys think?

My partner decided to go with the new M2 MBP 13 was the way to go for her. Size and weight almost identical to the new M2 MBA 13 and better battery life. Plus she still like the Touch Bar so there's that :) Price for the Air and Pro with 16Gb and 512GB was identical... and the new MBP 13 is available now. No wait.
