100% the MBP 14". Just went to the local Apple Store, tried out the 13" but did not like the Touch Bar. When I found out that the processor was going to be faster then the M2 and the screen looked amazing, walked out with my new baby. Go for it!

Yeah it’s getting pretty tough to decide whether to hold onto this 14’ or not now afte playing with it some. I could probably get another year out of my 2017 one but that screen has most definitely spoiled me, that and the speakers. It definitely is a bit noticeably thicker, and so much faster but honestly I don’t think I need all this power.

But when you calculate similar configurations for the M1 13 inch Air or M2 Pro and Air they pretty much come within like $100-200 so it’s hard not to justify getting that much better screen. I might change my mind before I have to take it back but we’ll see

Hi everyone,

Is very difficult for me to make a choice between MBP or MBA, because there is not a big price difference.

In my county the MBP cost 2284 dollars and the MBA with upgraded ram to 16 gb. is 1900 dollars. And if I choose the MBP I also get 512 GB SSD instead of 256 GB in the MBA.

Is this a no brainer, to choose the MBP or what do you guys think?

It's a no brainer to get the MBP if you're not getting the base MBA. When you spec them as close as possible, The difference is only around $200, and the extra performance from the M1 Pro, the speakers, and the vastly superior display are worth it.

Unless you are really, really, really into the thinner and lighter MBA design. But for me, for that price, the MBA should have had pro motion.

Am I the only one who feels the Air seems a little cheap or Whimpey? I love the solid feel of the pro... I want to like the new air... really do..

Looks like it's the MBP by a landslide. Lol.

I agree with the others, go with the Pro. The ProMotion display alone is worth the upgrade.

the BIG questions is where do you get them on sale again like they were at Best Buy a week or so ago for only $1750!

If budget is not the issue, MBP 14.

MacBook Air is a very popular entry laptop for students and travellers.

Funny you say that, while budget is no issue (I got good discount from my buddies) for the MBP 14. I recently just bought one of the base MBP14. Compared to that of the base air M2 or a upgraded M2 air the price difference is about $800 and $400 respectively.

But for me, I already have a Mac Mini connected to a huge monitor. My new MBP 14 has basically been sitting there for a few days now with no use. This MBP 14 is also bought in order to replace my aging MBP 13 (2011). So for me, already with a full setup at home and not traveling much. While budget is no issue, I still have a laptop that cost closed to $1800 sitting there most of the times. I feel that for my use case I can probably easily have gotten away with a base M2 MacBook Air.

Or a friend in the Military. 10% off
The true benefit with the military discount is when you use it against the Refurbished products, it has the ability take 10% off of that. But otherwise the 10% military discount is the same as the education discount. Which technically anyone can get...

I was in this same MBA M2 vs MBP 14” boat for a time. With the MBA upgrades and the base configuration MBP 14” they BOTH were more than I wanted to spend, maybe get the ’best deal’ and a MBA M1? Then a used MBP 14” with 6-recycles on the battery, boxed and “like-new” (it is, and some APPLE warranty for peace of mind) came on the auction site - buy it now - at the same price of a new 16/512 AIR M2 and I went for it. So far, so very good. The screen and ports alone are worth the price of admission. If absolute lightness is your need, the AIR is great, but for a slight trade-off in weight the Pro just ‘punches above its weight’ you could say.
