There is something flakey about this program... I noticed it said i'm running Touch Scan Pro? but I don't even have that application on my iPhone.. never even purchased it...

Very interesting. i bet that was the original intended application name but that was already taken:

http://appshopper.com/entertainment/touch-scan-pro

That would make sense why the icon name is Scan.

By the way, the first item on my running list is also Touch Scan Pro.

Ok lets say that was the intended name for the application " Touch Scan Pro" that name does not sound like an application that would free memory? .... Who knows but I think something is not quiet right

He may have intended it originally for the iPod Touch? (shrugs) Touch Scan sounds like a memory analysis software to me.

I just started up my other memory app- Memory Info- and it doesn't show Touch Scan Pro running under Processes. I'm not sure if that tells us anything or not though

FYI, I also have Touch Scan Pro running, so that must be the Memory Sweep App. I don't know why he didn't rename it.

Seriously I wouldn't BS the screen shots! Obviously you're getting different results but why?

Edit: when typing it brings up what I showed in the SS. BUT If I do hit the search button I get the results you get.

I also got the same results you did when I let the search show the results w/o hitting the search button. Actually, the 1st time, I got Box of Sox and was about to write a scathing review about how his app had notthing to do with memory management. But then I hit the search button the second or maybe the third time and then I saw Memory Sweep (w/o the Lite). For some reason, as others said, the icon has the Lite, but it's not on the App Store.

It sucks when the developer doesn't come back to check on the posts about his app, huh? I had a question about how much memory this thing takes up to check memory. Also, he could respond to some of these posts, especially the ones saying the app is BS. I freed up memory, at least it said I did. Seems to work great.

Actually was looking for a free memory manager today, but all were paid versions. Thanks so much for this!

It also tells you all the running apps and the free, inactive, active, and wired memory.

Edit: One question. How much memory is taken up by this app?

The memory this app takes up is so little, it's insignificant. I don't have an exact number so hope this helps.

Who knows lol maybe they should fix that though... because I can see the makers of Touch Scan Pro being a little angry

Memory Sweep's process name is mislabelled as Touch Scan Pro in this version. It will be corrected in the next version. BTW, I'm the maker of Touch Scan Pro so it's ok. :)

That's okay. I assumed it was, but wanted to ask anyway. It seems to work great. Thanks again. You might want to respond to some of these other posts, if you think it'll be worthwhile, since they seem to think there's something fishy about it.

No problem and thanks for downloading!

For anyone having trouble finding the app on iTunes, just click on the link provided. Here it is again: Memory Sweep
I removed the word Lite from the app name so iTunes must have been trying to catch up. It is still a free app.

For anyone boggled by the Touch Scan Pro name, please see my previous post. It'll be corrected in the next version.

Any questions, you can always drop me a note on Twitter @garywkfung as well. I'll try to respond faster. Thanks!

I cleaned it with 15 once. It dropped back down to ~7.

How much should be freed for optimal use?

For normal use, you should free 15mb. If you're about to play a game, freeing 30mb is recommended.

Okay, what's the max possible for a 3G then? Also, what is the max for a 3GS, which might have been what that person had that said 80.

Max for 3G is 30mb. 3GS has 256mb RAM altogether, but max for "freeing" is unknown at the moment. Hope this helps!

This is the first memory app I"ve tried, nothing to compare it to, don't know how they're supposed to work.

Looks valuable in reporting memory usage, and what processes are running, and freeing up memory where it can. But once Safari is opened and not force quit, the app can't get that memory back. Do any of these apps allow a force quit of the process from within the app? That would be nice.

Why does the iPhone keep these programs running anyways after you close them - I don't understand that.
