Seems to work okay on my 1st gen 32GB touch.

Don't like the name issues.

Suggest calling it something like this if they are not already taken:
- Sweep
- mSweep
- Mem Cleaner
- mScan
- mClean

Using the same name throughout is important. That way users don't get confused.

This is the first memory app I"ve tried, nothing to compare it to, don't know how they're supposed to work.

Looks valuable in reporting memory usage, and what processes are running, and freeing up memory where it can. But once Safari is opened and not force quit, the app can't get that memory back. Do any of these apps allow a force quit of the process from within the app? That would be nice.

Why does the iPhone keep these programs running anyways after you close them - I don't understand that.

You cannot force quit in any of the memory apps. But by freeing up to 30Mb, some of the native applications (ipod, safari, mail etc) will be terminated to free up the memory.

Those native applications are kept in the background because they want the user to be able to access them instantly without loading. In other words, Apple's app are given special privileges to perform better.

So costing $0 means it costs $0.99 cents? That's what it's coming up as on both my iPhone and in iTunes...

So what's the deal, is it free or not?

The app is free. Maybe check back in a bit. It should show up as free.

HI Gary,
I just tried too... Comes up as Memory Sweep (icon says lite) and it costs .99

RTFT. You probably opened Box of Sox.

Not here. I just looked again and it has the same search results as I posted above.

And I'm doing this from the iPhone, not iTunes.

There seems to be a glitch. Memory Sweep is free. Please check back on iTunes and your device in a bit. Thanks!

Got it, it was finally free - and you know what. I have one major complaint.

I expected this not to work, and I was let down. I was pleasantly surprised that when I cleared it the first time with 15, it ran Ferrari GT a little better than previously. I then upped the challenge. I have Blowfish, which is always glitchy. I cleared it by 30. The game which was now smoother than ever. Nice work - I'm impressed. :)

Make sure you give him props at the App Store.

What are the drawbacks of clearing 30 MB vs 15 MB? Wouldn't one want to clear as much memory as possible?

Because Apple's native apps are always running in the background, you do not want to clear as much memory as possible. By doing so, you would be interfering with apps like Mail, Safari, and iPod. It is recommended to clear 30MB for games and 15 MB for other less memory intense apps. Hope this helps!

Thanks fungg3 for the app!

Just wanna make sure, the processes shown that are active in the background cannot be selected to close or whatsoever?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a total IT idiot and so I don't wanna accidentally crash my iphone, that's all.
