I have the same problem. I'm signed up with the $9.99 plan, and it's been working flawlessly for months up to this morning. Over lunchtime I tried to browse and I kept getting redirected to the same page, telling me that I'm not signed up with the right data plan. I'm still running the 2.2.1 software, so I don't think 3.0 is the problem. I hope there's a way around it

I haven't had any issues with my internet... yet. If the only option is upgrading to the $25/mo plan, I'll probably switch to AT&T. It's only $20 more per month, and I'd get 3G speeds, and not have to worry about unlocking. I'm willing to threaten T-Mobile with that too. The cheap data & texting we locked in is the only thing holding me back from AT&T...

OK I think I fixed it. I did a combination of things, so I'm not sure which one actually did the trick, but here's a list of things I did:

- Clear History, Cookies, and Cache on Safari settings
- Set Accept Cookies to never on Safari settings
- Go to Settings - General - Reset - Reset Network Settings

After that, my internet works normally again. If you saved a wifi password previously, you'd have to re-set those again, but so far, I haven't seen the "please upgrade your data plan" page anymore when I browse the web on Safari.

And yes, I'm still on the $10-a month, 100MB data plan. Phew... :D

I have been using the unlocked iPhone 3g for a few months now with the 9.99data plan with the APN being internet2.voicestream.com. Yesterday afternoon all of a sudden internet connectivity was lost and accessing any website would take me to this T-Mo page that says my data plan is not compatible with the device and I need to upgrade. I changed the APN to everything else listed on this thread but no luck. I did upgrade to software / firmware 3.0 on the iPhone 3g recently but that has got nothing to do with it because it was working for a few days up until yesterday.

I got T-Mo tier-3 technical support and they told me that the system has caught up - towers are being updated to send out signals to devices that are not on the right plan. I called today again and said "PDA" to the automated system and was taken to some other customer service department, although similar answer - obviously now I am screwed because every new customer rep can see the notes that say that I am on the wrong plan for the device, but the answer was that they are upgrading their systems to find users who have devices without the right 24.99 smart phone internet plan. The system is finding out now what it should have found out months earlier.

Any suggestions on what I can do? Anybody else run into this?

Thanks

PS: Superkid - what did you mean by "set my phone to a SIM card" on My T-Mo website? Thanks

I had the same problem a few months ago I had it on wap.voicestream.com it was fine then one day i kept getting redirected to that upgrade page so i called they told me the same thing they told you i changed my apn to epc.tombile.com same problem finally i changed it to internet2.voicestream.com and it came back i haven't had a problem since.

Business Plan 300 w/ 100 txt +$30
Web2Go 50MB data w/ 200 txt +$10
18% off corporate discount -$7

after tax it's a $35/month iPhone plan, 300 txt included :)

Added a plan called "Smartphone Web" to my account last night for use with the iPhone 3GS. I got the $34.99 option, which comes with unlimited messaging as well. The rep said this plan is the same kind used for Windows Mobile devices. Too bad I can't get that $5.99 Tzones plan that everyone keeps talking about.

so essentially its $34.99 for unlimited text and EDGE?

O.K. fellow T-Mobile users. I have a 2G Iphone unlocked with Pwnage using version 2.2.1. If I update via I-Tunes to 3.0 is it going to re-lock my phone? I don't care if I loose Cydia, I just don't want to loose my T-Mobile service or my apps. I'm not the craftiest techie (I suck at this stuff) and am a bit afraid of having to re-unlocking my phone again.
Thanks,
Dave

No, you will just lose your jailbreak if you have it and any apps that came with cydia. You will lose the others from iTunes too but if your backed up they will reload when you do the backup after you are done upgrading.

Thanks Vegastouch. Worked like a charm till I tried to find my location and try Youtube. Both quit working. I Pwnaged the phone and EVERYTHING works as advertised!

I love this site!!!!!!! Thanks to all who contribute.

I have a question, is there anyway I can have a sim activated without using a tmobile phone? For example, if I bought a sim from tmobile or just got a sim from a friend, could they activate it for me?

Well, I'm still a little curious to know if any of you have actually bought a sim by itself and had it activated.

I guess you could say I splurged while I was at walmart tonight. I now have a sim and an extra phone that resembles a toy phone found in a vending machine.

Have $10 data plan but still dont' work

My wife and I both got the iPhone 2 weeks ago with the $10 data plan. It worked perfectly for the first 2 weeks and then it all of a sudden the data usage stopped working. When I tried to use safari it connects me to the webconnet site and says my current plan is not compatible with this device.
What should I do next? I tried chaning the VPN and MMSC and other settings and it still does not work.

okay i added another line to my tmobile account, and spoke with a rep. they know i have an iphone cause i told them straight out, and that my internet works fine, they never red flagged me or changed anything. now my wife, i got her a 3g, updated to 3.0 unlocked and jailbroken, they gave me a month free of web2go to see if it can work. and he said it might not work, i said well there is always a way and he said yes there it. i have the tzones before it got changed, and yes i get to keep my 5.99 tzones.

well i added the epc.tmobile.com (i have that on mines and it works) but my wife gets the "upgrade required" ****. so i plan on getting home and using internet2.voicestream.com and going to restard the phone. hopefully this works.

Can someone help me out by telling me how to change the sk $19.99 data plan to the unlimited web/txt $19.95 plan for non-smartphones?

I upgraded to the 3gs in August. In January I am leaving ATT and going to T-mobile. I will pay ATT their ETF and enjoy T-mobiles cheaper service. On ATT I am paying $45 / month for 450m, 200txt, 5000 NW. On T-mobile I will be paying $35 / month for 500m, 300txt and Free NW, and wont even be on a contract. If the new iphone has what I want and not just minor upgrades I may get that too and cancel my contract and use it on T-mobile.
