Maybe this time will be different?

Seems like every year there's an article saying Apple Watch will be getting microLED in just another year, maybe two.

A MicroLED on the Apple Watch Ultra is definitely going to be priced higher than it is today… 😉💴💴👀

I'm really happy with my AWU.

mini LED with improved battery plus whatever additional health sensors they add could be a reason to upgrade, but I was hoping to hold onto this one for 4 years.

I do hope they dont make the body of the watch bigger. I think 49mm is about as big as I want on my wrist.

Hoping if it really is 2.1 inches its because they reduced the bezels.

This is why I don't buy the OLED iPad and Mac rumors.

Why would Apple be going 'all in' on mLED only to go back to OLED?

It depends on priorities. Micro-LED is the long-term goal but doesn’t scale yet. So they’re moving to micro-LED from small displays (Watch) up, and to mini-LED (which is transitional) from large displays (12/14/16 iPad Pro and MBP) down. Finally, for devices where its flaws aren’t as important, they use OLED.

This is disappointing because I had expected it for 2024. But I noticed that it was “implied “ that it could come in the first part of the year and not have the normal time of September with the iPhone. Fingers crossed. I plan to keep my current ultra until this one comes out.

For those who are wondering why, this is the display technology that you want. Not OLED. I am ready to move to it on my iPhone and my iPads. On my computer monitors and my TV’s. It’s very expensive now and the watch is the perfect place to start.

I would love a smaller version of the Ultra. Current one is just too big for my wrist.

We’re probably at least a decade away from micro LED in phones, tablets and computers. I’d take this watch rumor with a grain of salt too.

Yeah, it does seem like BS. Maybe I’m mistaken, but I believe the main issue with microLED is not being able to pack enough pixels into a small enough area so as to get adequate pixel density. This is why microLED displays we see at trade shows are so massive.

People need to realise a new display technology would take decades to be adopted well. microLED, manufactured first in 2012, is just too new.

The micro-LED technology is still in the early development. The will start with the smallest screens and then go bigger and bigger. Probable timeline is 2025 for the micro-LED Watch, 2027 for the micro-LED iPhone and 2028/2029 for the micro-LED iPads and MacBooks. So there's probably at least 5 years until iPads and MacBooks will get micro-LED, just enough time for them to adopt OLED.

I’m going to give birth to a cow if the display gets even bigger and the case gets thicker.

I want a better Apple Watch, not another “iPod 6th Gen Wrist Edition”! 😫

No, they measure the temperature in regards to menstruation. I don't menstruate. Not usually.
No, they measure temperature for everyone. That temperature is helpful in predicting menstruation cycle so it became a feature.

Anyone can see their daily temperature, which is measured overnight, and its fluctuations which can also help predict if you are getting sick.

Oddly enough, Apple didn't announce that as a feature, purely in regards to menstruation. Regardless, it's a nice feature, but what I'm talking about is a normal, not an overnight temperate reading — where I can just see what my temperature is within seconds. One less device to do away with(thermometer). :)

I agree with you and think they didn't state it as a feature for regulatory purposes and maybe legal reliability.

It would be nice if it worked like a thermal scanner does or even the water temp sensor does.

I haven't used the water temp sensor yet but I am curious how different the near shore water temp is compared to the buoy temp close to my local surf break.

My feeling was that they were thiiiiis close to it, but didn't quite nail it for last year's release. You may recall it being rumored here quite a bit, I'm sure that was for a good reason.

I love my AW, but what I use it for I'm not as eager to update as I am with my iPhone. I'm still on my first AW (S6), I would've totally gotten the Ultra, but the lack of a temperature reader stopped me. Perhaps next year?

I feel like the water temp reader would irritate the crap out of me, given that I don't trust seatemperature.info — I find the water to be noticeably colder than what they show :D
