Art is not necessarily the end product, but the statement itself, and that's what this is. The guy is poking fun at society's obsession with products like this, and the general taboo of destroying things that are considering to be hot commodities in a tongue-in-cheek way. You know, being "provocative." It's not original in any way, but at least the way he's going about it is - most are simply beating them up with bats, as we've seen, driving over them, or there's guys like this with elaborate microwave setups or the entertaining promotion for Blendtec blenders from their "Will It Blend?" series. I don't see the point getting upset over it.
Its not really art though. It takes no talent or vision. Guess this is just my opinion. The 'will it blend' videos dont claim to be art they are really just viral ads for the blenders. I'm not angry because he needlesly destroyed a piece of technology, i'm just annoyed it is being called art.
