I haven't yet either. Apparently they can only send 10 invites per hour due to Google's restrictions. God knows when we'll get ours.

I got the email. That is scary to think about. They raised over $80,000 which probably is close to 11,000 donors and they can send 10 invites an hour. Maybe in a few months everyone will have it.

I have it installed, first impressions are good, haven't had much of a play yet though.

I just got the email. I'll mess around with it in a few when I get off work and let you know what I think.

edit: OK, my initial response is meh. The way you space by default is by sliding to the right. That is very awkward and really slows down typing. You can enable a spacebar, but that takes up more screen space and really defeats the whole purpose of their app. Also, adding a word to the dictionary is really weird and I don't even know how I end up doing it.

I agree - I haven't used it extensively, and maybe after getting used to it I might find it nice, but ultimately the added screen space really does nothing for me and isn't worth the slower, more headache-inducing typing.

I prefer typing on my iPhone, if that gives you any indication Couch. Though I'm not going to give up on it just yet. My biggest issue is the prediction is pretty lackluster - if that improves over the course of the beta testing, the whole experience might as well.

Sounds like we feel the same exact same way. I hate to say it, but it was nice to switch back to a normal keyboard.

Like all things it just takes time to learn a new system or new way of doing things. I have noticed that the predictive text is getting better over the day, and I have added my personal dictionary to aid Minuum learn faster.
Personally, I like it and the added real estate you get, plus swiping right to space or to the left to delete a word is a nice touch. Is it perfect? No. But it is a beta product.

it seems the point of the keyboard is to save on vertical space, but with all the latest android phones sporting >4.5" screens with 16:9 aspect ratios, vertical space is something i'm just not lacking. the keyboard certainly looks neat, but i don't think i'd ditch swiftkey (and its excellent prediction) for it.

Sad this keyboard isn't really making a good impression. There have been a lot of attempts at "reinventing" the smartphone software keyboard. There was a crazy one a while back where the letters were all placed in a circle, and the idea was that you just circled to the letters you wanted to write out words. A lot of those attempts fail, so not surprised by this one. The verdict is still out, but sucks that the early impressions aren't good.

Oh well.

Let me talk about Kii Keyboard a little bit.

People seriously need to give it a shot. It's made me a believer. This is coming from an avid Swiftkey fan.

It's everything good about all the best keyboards out there rolled into one. You have stock Android look, you have swiping abilities (that are really reliable and miles better than Swiftkey's Flow -- I mean, MILES better), you have a ton of customization (including Text Shortcuts done the right way -- ie. done the way iOS' keyboard does it and NOT the way Android stock keyboard does it where the substitution is in the suggestion bar and not automatic; one of the few things iOS' keyboard does right), great auto-correction, good prediction (not as fast learning or as intuitive as Swiftkey, but amazingly serviceable), keyboard sizing options, arrow navigation keys if you long press the symbol key... I mean, the list goes on and on.

Try it. Oh and it's free.

in the stock keyboard, i can tap and drag from the shift key to the letter i want capitalized. it's a lot smoother experience than tapping on shift and then tapping on the letter like i have to do in swiftkey. also, if the stock keyboard auto corrects a word that i didn't want corrected, i can press delete and the word will change to whatever it was before. swiftkey just deletes the space and you have to manually change the word to what you want (sometimes, the pre-corrected word appears in the suggestions but not always). these are my two biggest gripes with swiftkey, and i'm wondering how kii keyboard handles this. also, i'm not a fan of the green pop up windows. can that be changed?

Just gave this a try. It's usable but not if you have speed in mind. I do like it though, and will keep it installed as an alternate keyboard.

I have been using Kii on and off for a few months. I agree it is really good and feature filled.....useful features that is.

It's very much the same as stock keyboard. Think of Kii as stock keyboard "plus".

Yes to the rest of your stuff, too, if I'm not mistaken. My theme is the stock keyboard so my pop up is blue just like stock. :)

You can even change the thickness of the swiping trail.

Either way, it's free so just give it a shot to test out your questions.

Ya I agree - this keyboard would be more at home on an iPhone or similarly sized device.....

I really don't find that I need more screen visible while I type on my HTC One.
