If they do what MLB did to the NHL app, it will suck hard. Took a Pretty decent app and just made it a PIA to use. Not intuitive at all to use.
If interested you can maybe find the announcement of the ATV 4. It was a demo. I have not used either one but I was pretty impressed. But only seeing very little of the current one I am not best to compare. But it did have a type of PIP where multiple games can be shown at once. And a lot of stats going on. I just feel it was a pretty cool App.

I know they announced new pricing, and the price of the full MLB.tv package has been lowered from $129.99 to $109.99, but I wonder when they will update their site accordingly. Currently it says the following in my subscription settings:
  • Your MLB.TV Premium Yearly subscription will automatically renew prior to the beginning of LIVE Spring Training games, on or about February 28, 2016 at the previous year's regular full yearly price
  • The regular full yearly price of 2015 MLB.TV Premium Yearly is $129.99
Do I need to cancel and buy again to get the new $109.99 price? Seems bad to charge loyal subscribers that aren't paying attention a higher price. Feb 28 is coming up soon...

Here is the demo for those interested. I am really looking forward to baseball coming back soon!

I posed this question to MLB.tv customer service via email, this is what they replied:

Dear [[ME]],

Thank you for contacting MLB.com.

We appreciate the time that you have taken to write, and welcome the opportunity to respond.

We do not have specific information regarding MLB.TV packages being offered for the 2016 season at this time, as additional information regarding the options for next season should become available in mid-February. Please continue to visit our website at http://mlb.tv as it draws closer to the start of the season for more information.

Thank you again for your patience, and for taking the time to write!

Thanks for the link.

The spokesperson said that the stream would be at 60 frames per second. Wow. The picture should be outstanding.

Mike

How many streams at the same time? Example: SlingTV is 1 and HBO is 3. Can you watch the same game in multiple rooms at the same time? Also, is there an iPad App while out and about? I know this is a question for 2015 App but maybe apples to the new one.

You may have received this EM from MLB as well yesterday, but it looks like they have updated the pricing for auto-renewals as well:

MLB.TV Premium, the Emmy® award winner for Technology and Engineering, is back just in time for Spring Training. The first game streamed online will be on or about February 29, 2016. We are pleased to notify you of the annual automatic renewal of your subscription for 2016. Your subscription is priced even lower than last season’s regular yearly price - only $109.99 ($20 off last year’s full yearly price) and includes all the great features from last year, PLUS new features for the 2016 season. Enjoy full portability to over 400 supported connected devices, including supported mobile devices with a free subscription to At Bat Premium (the #1 selling sports app in the Apple Store - $19.99 value) for the 2016 season.

There is no action required for you to continue your MLB.TV Premium subscription. Unless you change your subscription to the MLB.TV Single Team Package, the payment card you have on file with us will be charged $109.99 prior to the beginning of live Spring Training games, on or about February 29, 2016. Your subscription will automatically renew annually on or about March 1 at the then-current year's regular full yearly price. To ensure uninterrupted access to your MLB.TV Premium subscription, in the event that we are unable to process charges to your primary payment card we will charge the alternate card(s) saved in your MLB.com Payment Profile. To update or confirm your payment card information, simply click here.

Yes I did get that. I will certainly renew then, $110 isn't bad.

Now just to ensure that adfreetime works on the new AppleTV, and works with the new mlb.tv app on there as well :-D

As a subscriber for years, $110 is an amazing deal for what you get. When it was $130 it was still a hell of a deal. I'm a baseball freak, so in addition to watching my Yanks, I'll usually watch 2 or 3 other games a night.

I agree that it is a good deal, but only if one is able to circumvent the blackout restrictions. I would even probably pay up to $200/season, if they would just get rid of the dam blackouts!

Here, here!! Using the mlb app is so much nicer than a regular cable feed for lots of reasons, especially with all the add ons announced in this year's app. These blackouts are just the worst.

I still hate the blackout restrictions since we cut the cord, and I'll be unable to watch Phillies games while I'm home. I'm still going to purchase the package anyway because I just love watching baseball in general. Plus, we get the premium MLB at bat app features for free.

Has anyone else noticed that the MLB.TV app for the new ATV is currently down for maintenance? I presume they're updating the app before the start of spring training games.

I live in Dallas and Houston games are blacked out here .... I get extremely screwed by the blackout restrictions.

Not being able to listen to Tom Mccarthy is a plus though
