Yup! Watched one today. Still no app update though. Hope it is at least getting approved by Apple right now.

I wonder if it is because the spring training crew lacks the infrastructure necessary to deliver a great product such as good cameras, enough computers etc

I'm sure this has something to do with it. Many spring training games only have one or two cameras for the televised broadcast, and I'd say a majority of the games aren't even televised. I'm sure we'll see the updated MLB app on Apple TV before the regular season starts. :)

I have had no problems using the smartDNS service I use for MLB.TV with my iPhone or iPad as long as I'm on wifi. Just make sure to turn location services off. It's very easy to change DNS settings in iOS. My credit card billing address is from Los Angeles as well.

Huh, this is good to know. I never tried watching the games on iOS because I just assumed the GPS would kick me out of watching the Sox. This would be very handy when on my local network. Any idea if this also works on Macs?

I have watched a few games and I know a new App for Apple TV is coming, but the quality of the picture is SD at best. I hope this is because of the cameras used for spring training.

It works on Macs as well. Very, very easy to change your DNS settings in both iOS and OSX. Whichever Smart DNS service you choose they will give you the instructions to get everything to work. I'm no computer genius and I have had zero problems with setup.

Just was looking thru their website and it seems it's a bit of a challenge to change the DNS settings and not screw other things up like Netflix for example. Did you have any issues for other services when you made the change?

None at all.

I'm a hockey guy, when MLB took over the streaming rights they launched a new app and broke the old app/required update. Disabling location services on iPad/iPhone stopped all the games from loading, but some are still having luck with the Apple TV and a DNS or VPN on the Apple TV.

App has officially been released today. :) Excited to test it out on some of todays spring training games.

I'll be interested in what your first impressions are - I have the MLB subscription and an aTV4 but am at work and won't get to look at the new app for a few more hours.

Very, very good. A significant improvement in picture quality.
Much better than I expected.

The app took away the ability to start the game in the beginning if the game is still going on. One of my favorite features. I hope it comes back before the regular season starts.

Does this update finally add audio overlay to MLB atBat for AppleTV? MLB atBat on the Roku has had audio overlay for years now. This feature is sorely needed by us White Sox fans.

is the MLB at Bat just the radio play by play of games with graphics?? Are these also subject to the blackout?

No, MLB atBat also delivers both TV and radio. The audio overlay feature substitutes the synchronized audio of a radio broadcast (or just ambiant ballpark sounds) over the video of a television broadcast.

I don't believe radio play-by-play was ever subject to blackout. I also seem to recall that the rules for television blackouts have recently been loosened. Perhaps someone can provide a better answer regarding blackouts.

Being from the UK, I'm not a massive Baseball fan. However, the new App is amazing. Currently because of spring training not all features are active but I love it so far. For those that experience black-outs. I suggest the use of a vpn and just set it to UK because we don't have any. Anyhow, for anyone unsure still there's a video on our channel going over what the App can do and whats coming at the start of the season.

I am not a big sports fan but I have family members that are. My brother in law has been using MLB at bat in prior years but said the resolution did not seem as good as on his DIRECTV Box. Mainly used in the garage. Anyway, I decided to get this just because I really like the App and wanted to get on board with other family members in maybe watching a few games. And also, when out of town visitors come in. Without this App and the Apple TV 4 I would not have paid the money for the annual subscription. Hope this turns out good for the MLB so that we can see more of this kind of content. Like Hulu without commercials. I hope that turns out to be a really good choice for them. The future is stilling moving a bit slow for me.

I hope the ability to skip around to different innings or game events is restored at some point. It's pretty difficult to navigate through a game manually in the new app.

In addition, I see no reason why many of the iOS app's features couldn't be replicated on the Apple TV version. It would be great to have searchable access to the vast MLB.com online video library, as well as access to player and team stats.

This is a very important feature, I bet that they will restore it for the regular season.

Anyone been able to see games in 60fps? I haven't been able to as of yet and wanted to see if it was just me.

MLB app has been updated. Version 2.1.0(934)

Edit: It seems that I've lost the ability to move backward and forward in a live game? Anyone with the same problem? I had to restart a game (LAA@LAD) from the first inning.

Re-Edit: it seems that to move forward I have to keep the button pressed!!! And it's like 2x speed.
