MLB app has been updated. Version 2.1.0(934)

Edit: It seems that I've lost the ability to move backward and forward in a live game? Anyone with the same problem? I had to restart a game (LAA@LAD) from the first inning.

Re-Edit: it seems that to move forward I have to keep the button pressed!!! And it's like 2x speed.

It seems that MLB acknowledges the issue.

Last season, for only $2/month, I used a service called Ad-Free Time. It's a smartDNS that supports MLB.tv. It gets around the restriction. Check it out here: https://adfreetime.com/a/521 I did a lot of searching, and this smartDNS is the least expensive that supports mlb.tv.

I cannot guarantee that it will work with the mlb.tv update they have planned for the new ATV4. I can say that their customer support is very responsive and helpful, and $2 is a pretty low risk.

any word if this works with the new app?

quick question. My partents are in a different zip code then Los Angeles, if I have them sign up, use their zip code on the sign up / credit card info, can I watch Dodgers games in Los Angeles? It would technically be their account but would be watching in a blacked out zip code (technically) :) does this make sense? if I can't, I'll be getting the unblock-us, but wouldn't mind just having them sign up and I use their login.

Isn't Netflix somehow cracking down on people using unblocked?

I heard that also. I think they must have a data base of the most common VPN servers and Smart DNS providers server addresses, and block accordingly. I can't think of how else they would do it. I hope it doesn't come to that with other apps.

Makes me a little concerned about using one of the blockers

I read an article and I'm sorry I don't have the link which talks about MLB.TV and their stance on VPN and DNS changers. Basically, MLB turns their head because they know that if they were to fight it, they would lose millions in subscriptions to their streaming service.

Currently trying to watch my first regular season game (Cards at the Pirates) and the damn feed works for a few mins then flashes the commercial break screen then jumps back to the bottom of the 1st. I have restarted the ATV, the app and everything. None of it works.

This ^. MLB really has no dog in this fight. The regional sports networks may start making noise if they feel it is cutting into their golden goose, but then they will have to fight MLB for it.

If you are a T-Mobile user you get the Premium package for free

http://9to5mac.com/2016/04/03/how-to-free-year-mlb-tv-premium-live/

can even be used for the Apple TV app. This week only to sign up.

Thanks for the heads up. I just switched to T-Mobile about a week ago and hadn't seen this offer yet. Not having the games was the main drawback I've had since cord cutting. Hopefully they'll do something similar with the next NHL season and when the NFL starts back up.

Now I just need to get a smart DNS to get my team's games. Sucks that privateinternetaccess doesn't do it. Hopefully the VPN stuff in the ATV4 become available soon.

Exactly the same for me. On MLB.TV support forum, there has been a steady stream of people complaining about this app.
It is in desperate need of attention by someone.

Figured I wasn't the only one.

I had that happen once yesterday (commercial break screen came on during game play). But after about 5 seconds it went back to the game. This was during the Houston/NY game. Other than that, the picture was actually very good and I had no buffering during the rest of the game. Hopefully MLB will correct the issues that are affecting many users.

I' am having the issue with the Orioles on MASN of going to beginning of the game. I've been in DMs with MLB Fan Support and they are investigating the issue. They also said DVR functions is another thing they are working on.

So no one is worried about Netflix cancelling your subscription if you use a blocker? That is the only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger right now.

I am a bit concerned about this, but I also don't want to use a location-spoofer with Netflix. With AdFreeTime, there is a setting for Netflix location spoofing, and it is turned-off by default. Indeed, they have a lengthy post on Reddit about Netflix and its recent stance on location spoofing. So I simply leave that setting off, and there is no issue.

are they actually doing that? I use Unlocator for the MLB app and BBC Iplayer. They have it working again for Netflix but only US region currently.

I just tried Netflix with my VPN connected and received this error message:

“You seem to be using an unblocker or proxy. Please turn off any of these services and try again.”

https://help.netflix.com/en/node/277

They're just blocking access not cancelling subscriptions. That would kill their revenue stream.
