I think that MMS is not supported on the iPhones in the U.S., because there is a special processor in only the AT&T iPhones. It's Apple's fault. That's what my friend, who is a friend of the AT&T CEO told me. :)

The iPhone sold in the US has the exact same guts as iPhones sold in other parts of the world. There's no special processor. MMS will be available by the end of summer, just be patient.

I think Apple needs to do an update on everyone's iSarcasm Detector. Its an epidemic.

Sorry to be off topic but can't just let this go...

Ok. Educate me then.

And we'll look over the fact that a large proportion of the US population is made up of desendents of European immigrants.

What does that have to do with "discovering" America?

Huh? Remember Columbus? Maybe Columbus Day? The Mayflower? Or the only true Americans are indians? I'm just going to assume you were joking.

The Norwegians were "visiting" north america centuries before Columbus bumped into the West Indies thinking it was Asia... Sorry you bought into the myth of Columbus... ;)

Even if ignore dispute that or the claim that Amerigo Vespucci possibly visited North America (not just the Indies) a full year before, or the claim that the Chinese visited the west coast 70 years before that - THERE WERE ALREADY PEOPLE IN THE AMERICAS FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS - SO THEY DIDN'T DISCOVER IT!

Now AT&T Hurry up with the dang MMS!!!!

I know all about the Norwegians. Trust me. But that didn't pack as much punch as reminding him about Columbus, did it? :) And I already mentioned the indians.;)

so when the end of summer arrives... and everyone has MMS... and Tethering.... What will there be to complain about?!

You know. They NEVER said late summer in the USA

Summer in Australia is still several months away! lol

I would have to agree the battery and the txt message alert... I use to like it when it said "New Message" and not show who it's from.

There is no claim that AT&T doesn't support MMS, we know they do on every other phone they have. Almost everyone here is complaining about it not be supported on the iPhone, yet.
Don't know if you noticed, this is the iPhone forum. When someone mentions MMS, it is implied they are talking about on the iPhone.

vizkiz... All you have to do is READ the posts. This is the one that I was referring to from above:

Apple, AT&T sued for lack of MMS capability
Business and Law

A class action started in a Louisana district court alleging that Apple and AT&T touted the iPhone as supporting MMS (multimedia messaging service) but have not as yet provided the service.

The plaintiffs allege that Apple "advertised heavily that the new version of iPhone, the 3G, as well as the even newer version the 3G-S would allow MMS. Apple's print and video advertisements in and on television, the internet, the radio, newspapers and direct mailers all touted the availability of MMS." AT&T advertised the same functionality, the filing says.

But since the launch, in the USA, such functionality is not yet available. The court filing says the AT&T Answer Center page said: "Customers who are sent a MMS message and own a non-MMS capable device will receive a text message instead of an actual MMS message."

But, the filing alleges: "AT&T is not a carrier which offers MMS! Of course, AT&T is the only carrier in the United States used by the iPhone. In other words, AT&T's towers do not support MMS."

Apple, says the filings, has revealed that AT&T has never upgraded its towers so as to support MMS functionality. "The only excuse offered by AT&T and Apple is a mouseprint disclaimer on the website, in barely readable font, which reads 'MMS Support from AT&T coming in late summer'".

The class action suit alleges the Louisana suit will consist of at least 10,000 individuals. The action is brought both under the Louisiana Unfair Trade Practices Act and other Louisiana civil codes.

.
AT&T IS TESTING MMS IN SEATTLE !
and some users have reported that MMS is working for those that are in Seattle . But this is only a test. Can anyone confirm this?
http://blogs.zdnet.com/Apple/?p=4648

Following up on this, AT&T Mobility’s Executive Director Media Relations responded that "We have not yet offered MMS on the iPhone. We plan to do so toward the end of September."

This was just a Tactic to show Microsoft, see.... Apple can run MMS too!
