I have the B2B plan with 1500 messages for $8.99. I was able to successfully send a single MMS yesterday, but all other attempts have failed (red "!"). I also had my brother (on Verizon) send me a picture, and all I got was the message telling me to log into the website to see the picture message.

My AT&T account lists my plan as "Text Msging 1500 B2B: 1500 Text Messages" so I'm not feeling too great about being able to keep this plan AND get MMS working.

Just checked my usage, and it turns out the one MMS I was able to send is showing up as a "pay per use" message.

Not liking the implications (especially since it only worked ONCE)...

Here's my story:

Tried to send, got red !.

Called AT&T and said I can't send. Inquired about my txt plan. Lady said it should be fine, xferred me to support. Support guy had me reset network settings, make outgoing call, then he sent one. I received. Then I sent to him, he received. Went back to billing and they said B2B plan is fine and includes MMS since I have unl data.

He was explicit about the outgoing call after reset of network settings. Did you try this?

I noticed I am being charged for MMS via 'Pay per use' which is contrary to the information given previously. I'll phone AT&T tomorrow and see what they'll do for me.

I just called in and the CSR I talked to confirmed that the B2B1500 plan is only for text messages. He offered to add the pay-per-use feature on (I didn't even have to ask about it), so I'm going to do that for a while and see if I use MMS enough to necessitate spending more every month. I don't think I will.

psywzrd:

If you go on to the AT&T website to check your usage, pay-per-use will only appear if you've successfully sent or received an MMS, or if you have it turned on. Go to your line and check data usage and it will appear under your texting plan info (see attached image).

Just to toss another user experience out there.

I've had the TMB9 plan on my account as a FAN user for about 6 months now. On 09.25 I updated my carrier file and did both a "reset all settings" and a "reset all network settings." Neither helped and I kept receiving the RED (!) icon, even up to this morning.

Now, I was hopeful in that it was just increased network congestion stopping me from sending MMSs. I called a FAN CSR, and within 10 minutes (including hold time) they had placed an MMS PPU on my account and I was able to send and receive.

So I'll keep TMB9 on my account and pay $.35 each MMS. The other option was of course to drop TMB9 and go w/ the standard iPhone Messaging 1500 @ $15/mo. So:

$15 - $7.49 (TMB9) = $7.51/$.35 = 21 MMS/mo.

Occasional MMS'ers with TMB9 are better off going the PPU option versus the new plan option.

Ciao,

Interesting. I have sent and received 4 MMS since Friday, and I'm not seeing anything that would indicate that I will be charged per message. When I look under the details of my data usage, I can see the MMS I have sent and received listed among the text messages I have sent and received. Also, look at these two screenshots from my account - it looks my MMS are merely being counted as text messages:

Lucky you! What do you think "MMS OPT OUT - MUX1" is?

I'm not really sure. I know I had MMS Opt-out on my account and that was one of the reasons I was unable to send and receive MMS on Friday. I called and had them remove that and they supposedly added the pay-per-use option as well; however, it doesn't look like I will be charged at all. Maybe the key is the MUX1 rather than the MU01 that people have mentioned here.

Interesting. I was told by the AT&T CSR that I didn't have an opt out on mine, so he could add the PPU option. He didn't mention which code he was adding and I didn't ask, though.

MMS Opt out

How do you know if you have "MMS opt out" on your plan? Do you have to call or does it tell you when you log into your account online? I have the 750b2b for $7.49 and also have not been able to send or receive an MMS. Does anyone else think this is odd that because I applied a text plan provided to me by my HR department I am unable to enjoy the benefits of MMS. Seems to me as though it really shouldn't make any difference which text plan I have, I should be able to send and receive MMS just like everyone else. Thoughts?

No - as it's been discussed here (scroll back) the b2b (business to business) plans are intended as SMS only - NOT MMS. Because these are BUSINESS texting plans and AT&T set them up (and discounted) because business don't really have a need for MMS.

For me I saw MMS Opt-Out when I went to the Manage Features area in OLAM.

I got billed for my MMS messages I sent. I called AT&T, they credited for those messages, but said I'd have to pay $6 more a month and upgrade to the iPhone plan to receive free MMS.

I won't bother... and I won't use MMS for more than 20 messages a month.

I just wanted to post back with an update on my situation. I just viewed my current bill online and it looks like I was charged for 1 out of the 5 MMS I sent/received during my last billing cycle. The 4 that I wasn't charged for were all on 9/25/09 and the 1 that I was charged for was on 10/3/09. I'm not sure what changed between 9/25 and 10/3 but my OLAM says that the first 4 MMS were charged under rate code "MUX1" while the one I was charged $.30 for was charged under code "MUEN".

There was also something in my OLAM that said that Picture/Video Messaging was deactivated on 9/25/09 and is prorated. Whatever that feature was, it looks like it triggered them to start charging me for MMS after it was changed. I can only guess that it was some type of fluke that I wasn't charged for the first 4 MMS; however, I don't think I'm going to bother upgrading to the $15.00 messaging plan since I'm only paying $8.99 right now. I would have to send/receive 21 MMS per month at $.30/message to go over the $6.00 difference between the $8.99 I'm paying and the $15.00 for the 1500 plan that includes MMS - I don't see myself using MMS that much. If my usage changes, it's easy enough for me to switch text messaging plans. In the meantime, if anyone figures out a way to use MMS with no pay-per-use charges on TMS4, please post back. Thanks!

I have the B2B 1500 and the texting worked fine. I was under the impression I wouldn't be charged for them so used it a bit. Checked my bill and have been charged for 18. So if thats the case I'll just not use it I guess and go back to emailing and if people want to send me something that'll be fine. Kinda stinks though since we already have to pay for unlimited data. Whatever, I doubt I'll be sticking with them anyways now that the android phones seem to be catching up.
