I'm really surprised to see everyone having so many problems with the app. I think I wasn't able to connect twice during the first few days of its release, but ever since then its been free sailing.

I tired today and yesterday and I cannot get it to connect.

Sometimes it will give me a message that it can't connect to mobilechat and sometimes it wont (and still not connect). Even when I click offline and back online to re-trigger the connections.

its still not really working for me, it keeps saying "connecting" but does nothing. In order to get it to work i have to delete my hotmail account each time and set it up as new one and itll connect me right away ... until i close the app

yep. Mobilechat is far from a working app.

1. It doesn't automatically sign on. I have to go to status and hit offline and online again. But this doesn't matter because...
2. My buddy list never refreshes. It's the same damn buddy list every time.
3. Switching from portrait to landscape mode is buggy.

I want my money back. Since it's through the app store, who do I complain to?

What a disgraceful app.

My buddy list never refreshes either >: (
It's awful.
AND the going to the status page and having to select offline and then select available again REALLY irritates also. They should really have just a "Sign In" button.

I'm really hoping there next couple of updates resolve these types of problems.

Not sure what is taking apple so long to post the update. The first update is supposed to fix the buddy list refresh problem and a lot of the crashes.

The app mostly works fine for me, except for the crashing and the buddy list thing.

There really needs to be an update. I haven't used the app due to the buddy list not refreshing.

Does anyone here ever check their blog! Gosh :p.

On another note, Shaun should have some announcements relatively soon regarding the next MobileChat update (3.1) which will solve a number of problems that our users have been experiencing. We are very excited about this release and we hope Apple will bring it to AppStore in record time!

I’ll also post an update tomorrow regarding our plan for the next few weeks and how we plan to handle some of the larger hurdles that have come our way.

Yeah there are some here that checks the blog. But they seem to be kinda of inconsistent there. First of all, they said they initially had the 3.0.1 update up for review on the launch of the Mobile Chat in the app store. This is at 8.12.08. Then about 3 days ago the developers are swapping 3.0.1 with a 3.1 update.

We're in the process of getting Apple to swap the 3.01 update with our latest 3.1 update. The 3.1 update is a HUGE update for MobileChat and should prove to be far more reliable.

I just hope that they don't cause more problems by swapping the updates, and will extend the time we get some of the basic fixes.

Ok. MC is officially on borrowed time. Looks like Beejive is just around the corner (checkout BGR). Beejive is awesome on the BB, and will rock in the iPhone. MC better get a meaningful update out before Beejive is released. Amateur hour is over.

I still cannot connect with mobilechat. It SOMETIMES says cannot connect to mobilechat, but mostly it does NOTHING. It doesn't tell me it can't connect, it doesn't show the services trying to connect.. NOTHING.

I click offline then available and nothing happens.

I'd think after all this time being out, there would be some fix.

There have been three fixes.

First one was submitted a long time ago (12th)...still in review. Second one can't even be posted until Apple approves the first one. And third one is the one that incorporates more features as well.

Proof? Because all I see are blog posts saying that they've submitted updates, but blames Apple for not approving them in time.

I'm not surprised if Apple is taking a while to approve them. The best proof we got is that one screenshot of when they first submitted MobileChat showing that they submitted a long time before it released. Then again, some people can say that it was photoshopped -_-.

What a load of crap.

I stuck with it for a while as I was following it's progress before it's release but it's just not a very good bit of software, that hardly works.

Also the developers always seem to be "waiting" - waiting for Apple, waiting for a new server, waiting for this, waiting for that.

Well, I got bored of waiting, got a refund and deleted the app.

While I am certainly not put out for the 2.99 I spent, I probably will request a refund once beejive is released. It's the principle really. They released alpha software and charged for it. Sure they "may" improve it eventually to acceptable standards, but as a consumer with choices I'd rather take my business elsewhere.

This is exactly how I feel. $3 is NOTHING, but I'm sort of disgusted they charged ANYTHING for software that's completely and utterly unusable. Palringo and this new IM+ app are free, and both seem to work fine. The MC guys seem to have also disappeared from their own blog (which I can't even view comments from now either -- did they do something to it because of all the people complaining??).

They've given us absolutely NO reason to support them, or wait for this to get any better (if it ever will). Even their strongest early supporters have quieted down lately, or are asking what the hell is up on their blog. I think everyone's finally gotten the hint that this is a truly amateur operation not worth giving the time of day....

I just got a reply back from them about the issue with buddy lists not refreshing:

Bradley,

This is actually a known issue with MobileChat 3.0 and we've had a number of users contact us regarding this exact problem. Fortunately, we've resolved this issue in the MobileChat 3.1 update. This new update will be absolutely free and is due to hit AppStore within the next week or so.
We apologize for the frustration that you've experienced thus far and hope to better serve you as we continue to develop MobileChat into a premier application. We accept full responsibility for the poor user experience that we've relayed to our customers and will do anything we can to keep you satisfied.

We appreciate your patience in this matter while we work to resolve your issues.

Thank You,
twenty08 Support Team

Update in a week or sooner.
