I think it's relative. If Apple did some changes to Spotlight underhood and didn't communicate it to Microsoft then it's Apple but if Apple told Microsoft the changes and Redmond didn't compiled a fixed version maybe it's their... Who knows. I hope a fix is going to be released from Microsoft soon.Welcome on board :-( Question is where is the problem - if on the Apple or on MS site. Apple has to change something from Monterey 12.0.1 and 12.1 because it was working fine on 12.0.1 (at least I had absolutely any problem).
Is it possible to downgrade to Monterey 12.0.1 on Macs with M1 Pro chip? I was asking Apple support how to do it and was told, that it is not possible to do it on MacBook Pro 14". Although I am from IT I lived all my live with Windows, was totally excited from the new MacBook Pro but after several day I upgraded to Monterey 12.1. and the cold shower came with the broken Outlook which I need :-(Downgrade works. But that is in Monterey a clean install.
Could you give as some contact/link where to report it. I would do it asap because this bug destroys my work.I have opened a case and have reported this to a Microsoft macOS Support Lead. I suggest everyone on this forum to open a case to receive more traction and visibility on this issue.
I have reported this through the Outlook application itself via:Could you give as some contact/link where to report it. I would do it asap because this bug destroys my work.
Yes the QA/testing in this case is terrific. This is a basic functionality and the search does not work at all :-(. As I wrote somewhere else even trained monkey would notice such a bug. When I first reported this problem here I thought I'll be alone but I saw many people is affected by this nasty bug.
It's Outlook and Spotlight integration that was broken in Monterey 12.1.
For people who use Outlook please refrain from upgrading to 121. For people that can't use new Outlook (no Exchange On-Prem support along other things) I think the best option is to use Outlook Online or maybe Mail client.
Surprising how big companies weren't able to track this issue before. Hellooo, it's a basic search option, it's not rocket science
same issueI am having the same exact issue (can't search in Outlook for Mac since upgrading to macOS 12.1. Tried all kinds of things and no luck. A big issue for me too. I too have been forced to use webmail to search emails. Hopefully there's a fix soon! Note: I am using the "old" Outlook too (I have not "toggled" to the "New" Outlook). Hopefully there's a fix soon.
I was trying to raise the issue using this MS channel/chat but after two "advices" that I should reindex spotlight they stopped further communication. I was trying to tell them that I already did everything possible and that this is the new bug connected with the new version of monterey :-(I have reported this through the Outlook application itself via:

I received a case number through a tech support agent. In addition, I have also sent the link to this forum to a Microsoft macOS Support Lead via the Mac Admins Outlook Slack channel. You can sign up here - https://www.macadmins.org/

I responded that I've tried everything from re-indexing my drive and re-importing via mdimport. There is an active discussion in an Apple Developer Portal Forum; however, I'm afraid to post the link and get banned.Yes we are seeing reports from customers after installing 12.1 update
There is definitely something getting into broken state after installing this update
On your machine can you please run these commands and once done, reindex the entire drive once again
sudo mdutil -a -i off
sudo mdutil -a -i on
Reporting bugs to Microsoft is a complete waste of time. Also, the so-called Microsoft Moderator and Advisor in Microsoft's TechNet board think users are idiots. They even recommend to reinstall or get a paid upgrade to Office 365 Cloud, although it has nothing to do with it. I'm glad that I don't have to use Outlook for myself.I was trying to raise the issue using this MS channel/chat but after two "advices" that I should reindex spotlight they stopped further communication.
The feedback in Outlook itself has been useful. I have had good experience of this in the past. This is the obvious route to take as it automatically uploads the system parameters.Reporting bugs to Microsoft is a complete waste of time. I'm having loads of problems. Monterey broke Outlook. Not only is search not working, but I have to delete every email twice. When I delete an email, it redownloads it, and I have to delete it a second time. iMessage also isn't working properly and my contact book is also a bit jumbled between my phone and the Mac now. Outlook is necessary for work. I can't function without it on my desktop as I use multiple email addresses and the calendar to run my work life.Hello guys,
Yesterday I updated my MBP to Monterey 12.1 and it was a terrible idea. Now my Outlook 365 search function is not working and it affected my performance at work. Now I need to open Outlook in Chrome in order to search emails.
I tried to (without success):
-Delete Outlook app (moved to trash) and reinstall it
-Update to preview-release version 16.56
-I added the path /Users/UserName/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Outlook to Privacy tab in Spotlight and then I deleted the entry in order to rebuild index.
-Exeucted the terminal command:
mdimport -r /Applications/Microsoft\ Outlook.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/Microsoft\ Outlook\ Spotlight\ Importer.mdimporter
It started rebuilding the Index and some emails started appearing in search results but hours later it stopped working. Any keyword yield zero results.
It's quite frustrating. I don't know if changing the name of Outlook profile or recreating this will fix this issue. I've four accounts (three of O365 and one Gmail) and search doesn't work in any of them.
Please help. I don't know if reverting to 12.0.1 will fix this.
