Is it possible to downgrade to Monterey 12.0.1 on Macs with M1 Pro chip? I was asking Apple support how to do it and was told, that it is not possible to do it on MacBook Pro 14". Although I am from IT I lived all my live with Windows, was totally excited from the new MacBook Pro but after several day I upgraded to Monterey 12.1. and the cold shower came with the broken Outlook which I need :-(
Yes you can, I just did on my 14 MBP. You just need to download 12.0.1 dmg/pkg and clean install.

Can you please reply with a tutorial link? This is my first time and I don’t want to brake something, guarantee support in my country is a mess. Thanks.

Same here. Cannot switch to "new" outlook, because my company uses Exchange Sever 2016… Now switching to Apple Mail - at least temporarily.
(New Outlook Profile, reindexing, reboot, nothing worked. - E-Mails are, at least, found in Spotlight-search, but not in Outlook…)

Just thought I'd let everybody here know. SAME HERE! :p

Can't use new outlook because of exchange accounts. Can't index since 12.1. Can't downgrade since I don't have an external hard disk.

Basically, apple has rendered me useless at work. So much for beta testing their builds.

Remarkable: On my Mac mini M1 (Monterey 12.1), Outlook 16.56 it still works. On my Mac Book Pro M1 (Monterey 12.1), Outlook 16.56, search is broken (same Exchange-Servers, same E-Mails…)

?, any obvious differencies between these two machines ? Installed SW, settings, ...?

Well initially my search "semi" worked before I realised this was a major problem, some results were coming up but what flagged the issue to me was my follow up smart folder was empty, it wasn't showing me my flagged emails but when I searched for emails they seemed to work... sort of, it was pulling some things up, but after Microsoft asked me to rebuild the Spotlight index it completely erased my search data and now nothing appears when I search.

I'm still investigating. On the Mini I have "Contact Support" enabled, on the MacBook there is no such entry. Fascinating still: preferences under "privacy options" are the same. (everything enabled).

Yes, that could also be the crucial difference between my two machines. On the Mini I didn't try to rescue and reindex.

UPDATE:

OK so I have been speaking to Microsoft support and they told me to do an extra step before attempting the reindexing again.

Let's check if there is an issue with the file association. Please follow the steps below and see if that helps.

1. Please drag and drop an email onto the desktop. Right click on the file that you have dragged on the desktop and select 'Get info'.
2. Now click on the dropdown of 'Open with'
3. Select the dropdown option and click on 'Other'
4. Now a new window will open up and then select 'Microsoft Outlook' from the list(If you don't find it there, select 'All applications' instead of 'Recommended'). Click on 'Add'
5. You will then be re-directed to the previous page, select 'Change all' and click continue.

After you have done this, please re-index once again and try searching.
To re-index,
1. Choose Apple menu - System Preferences, then click Spotlight.
2. Click the Privacy tab.
3. In Finder:
a. On the Go menu click Go to Folder...
b. Copy and paste the following location into the "Go to the folder:" dialog box and click Go:
~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Outlook/Outlook 15 Profiles/
4. Drag the ‘Main Profile’ folder to the Privacy tab. Once added, remove the folder from privacy, and Spotlight will re-index the folder. Note: You must perform this step for any additional profile folders you may have.

The curious thing was that after I followed all steps above and when it was actively reindexing, I searched in outlook and it was pulling results!!! HOWEVER, as soon as it finished indexing the search immediately stopped working again.

I have reported this back to support so we will see what next steps they suggest.

Absolutely the same behavior on my MBP 14. Several moments of hope that the search started to work and then again "No Results"....

I've been at it all morning before finding this thread. I'm also running macOS Monterey v12.1 on a MacBook Pro (14-inch, 2021). Outlook search doesn't work at all.

Did everything: Remove my account, trash the Main Profile folder, added my account again, put just about everything in and out the Spotlight privacy section, used all the Terminal commands to reindex Spotlight and restarted more times than I can count. Nothing works.

Can't use the New Outlook either because of my work Exchange. At this point I have to rely on Outlook for iOS to find stuff.

Okay so the only fix to this is either a MacOS update or the Outlook app update.

MacOS one would have to wait at least 15 days I suppose (and that's being optimistic).

How long do you think MS will take to push an update? And would an Outlook update even fix this?

I've been in contact with customer support and basically they're asking us to do all the things we already did here. Such as turning Spotlight off and on again through Terminal. So I can save you guys the trouble contacting them.

Disappointing. Just received this at 6am from Microsoft support (Outlook). Clearly their teams dont know what to do.

Thanks for confirming, Carl, and we're sorry for the late response as we do not have live chat features but we will do our best to respond the soonest we can.

Yes, we have other users reporting the same issue as well. We will share a link with you with more information and resolution as to how we can fix this. Here's the link:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...isplayed-cf6eb856-ed4f-54e9-3ef2-546046d87c7e

But before you proceed with performing the steps from the link, let's try to re-index Spotlight first. Here are the steps:

Open the Apple menu.
Select System Preferences, and then choose Spotlight.
Select the Privacy tab.

In Finder:
On the Go menu choose Go to Folder...
Copy and paste the following location into the "Go to the folder:" dialog box and select Go:

~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/Outlook/Outlook 15 Profiles/

Drag the ‘Main Profile’ folder or the folder with your primary profile name to the Privacy tab. Once added, remove the folder, and Spotlight will re-index the folder.

Please note that you must perform this step for any additional profile folders you may have and that depending on the amount of email you have this could take several hours to fully index your email files.

Let us know how it goes after these are performed. Thanks Carl.

Yeah there is seriously something wrong with Indexing now. I don't know if it's just me but the last few Mac operating systems have been terrible. I have tried everything suggested and nothing is correcting the issue, and the new look is just too simplified and causes more steps required to do the tings I want. A terrible solution for sure.

Not sure if this helps, but I've had a similar behavior recently when switching from my 2017 to a 2020 iMac and migrating my data (both systems on 12.0.1). Outlook search simply refused to work. Reindexing didn't help at all, and the only thing that did was to instruct Spotlight to reimport all files claimed by the Outlook plugin (see below) and then reindexing the entire disk. Not just my Outlook profile folder or user folder but the entire "Macintosh HD".

mdutil -r "/Applications/Microsoft Outlook.app/Contents/Library/Spotlight/Microsoft Outlook Spotlight Importer.mdimporter"

I will definitely hold off my updates to 12.1 now as I rely heavily on Outlook and its search and need to make sure it works first.

Aargh! Been struggling with this ever since upgrading to Monterey--I had no results after October 17th. Switch to new outlook and it works perfectly. Probably a dozen hours wasted of trying to fix it, and of sifting through results manually to find needed emails.

I was trying also this and no way. Simply not working

But the new outlook does not work for mails sitting on exchange servers :-(

  1. I think everyone on this thread should be proactive and invoke (4) or more searches that yield No Results.
  2. Screen Shot 2021-12-16 at 9.41.13 AM.png

  3. That will output an incident ID.
  4. Provide the support agent the incident ID via the Contact Support option within Outlook.
The more end-users that continue to report this, the more traction this issue will get.

This Outlook indexing bug aside (sounds like both Apple and Microsoft dropped the ball here), I truly regret 'upgrading' to 12.1 - not only did it NOT fix a majority of the most glaring bugs, but it actually introduced more. How the hell do you break more stuff in a .1 release?! After weeks/months of betas, THIS is what they released? Monterey is the buggiest OS Apple has ever released, second only to Big Sur. This really tells you something about Apple as of late. This is the first .1 release that feels buggier than the initial release.
