Yepp ... re-indexing is their standard storybook. I was originally referred to this procedure as well, but it seems support slowly realizes the scale of this issue. They just requested an incident ID which I created, according to their wish, after doing three different searches. I was asked for patience. Seems they are digging.
It would be great if they are starting to realize that it is really an issue :) It is the precondition before starting to do something :) I am laughing but in fact I am desparatelly waiting for a solution because this is the most inconvenient bug I was ever facing.

This is ridiculous to say the least..coming from two giants like Apple & Microsoft we expected a better result. Spent half a day with online support with no result. its was all basically about reindexing...finally switched to the 'New Outlook' and removed the Office on-prem Exchange configuration to Apple Mail and keeping only the outlook.com ID in the new outlook the search seem to be working. Its been pretty long that Exchange support status is shown as 'Coming Soon'....how soon? maybe a few decades more!

Re the Search Issues in Outlook since Monterey 12.1 , Downloaded the new OS Beta 12.2 Beta (21D5025f) that came out just now . Busy reindexing Spotlight (Moving Macintosh HD to Private then out in the spotlight preferences) and waiting the reindexing to complete. I do see some searches in outlook bringing results , so hopefully once the indexing is complete this may work..

Reporting back. I was able to go into Recovery Mode, format my HD, reinstall Catalina, which is what it shipped with and was available in Recovery Mode, then upgraded to Big Sur from there. Everything works again. Followed a series of steps on multiple articles to accomplish this.

You could have just downloaded Big Sur and put it on a USB drive and saved yourself some time, but I’m glad you got it figured it.

There was an outlook update on the App Store today but it doesn’t look like it fixes the indexing issue.

I have the same issue - no fix in sight
Both Apple and Microsoft don't get a flying f...................
They are just leaving us hanging

Any info from testing Monterey 12.2 Beta? I would say it is too soon to be corrected but...

UPDATE FOR TODAY:

Microsoft support got back to me after 3 days of fighting with them to explain that this is an unfixable bug and not a generic issue they sent me this:

Sorry for the delay response, as I was out of Office. Also, please note that this is an offline support channel. You may witness a delay in response as we investigate on the issues. However, we shall try our best to revert at the earliest.

I would like to inform you that we have identified this behavior as a BUG and report is already filed with the product engineering team and the issue is under investigation. I understand the severity of the issue and the requirement for the resolution. Since this needs to be tested and the fix needs to be rolled out, we would not be able to provide an ETA on the fix. Once the fix is rolled out to any BUG filed with the product engineering team, then it'll be released through updates for Outlook. Hence, keep your Outlook updated.

You may also refer to the Microsoft blog, where all the updates to the latest features and fixes are announced. Here is the link: (I removed the link because it would block my post, just a link to their release notes)
You can also reach out to us anytime, to check the status of this reported issue, by starting a new conversation and through our archives; we will pull-up the archives to continue to assist you. Once again, thanks for reporting this issue to us. Appreciate your patience and understanding.

I then asked them what the average ETA is for a bug like this to be fixed and he said this:

It could take a month or may be more than a month, since Our engineering team is investigating with the Apple support team for the solution.

So looks like it won't be fixed until sometime in January 2022.

hello, in the new outlook, it does not allow to import .pst files, the option is greyed out.

(in the old version yes, but it does not allow searches ???♂️)

does anyone have the same problem?

@howdytom, sin problema. lo comentaba ya que ha sido un problema encontrado al tener que usar new outlook, como workaround para para búsqueda en old outlook, since Monterey 12.1

@pablofu Thanks for sharing! This MS KB article is misleading. We all Re-indexed Outlook email files multiple times. In clearly shows that this is ongoing issue since previous Mac Outlook versions from Catalina to Monterey. Within Apple Finder Outlook messages show up in Spotlight search. However it remains completely empty in Outlook 16.56.

The MS KB article also adds to switch to the new Mac Outlook UI to push customer to Office 365. It's insane to recommend it! Who is creating those articles at Microsoft? Outlook for Mac doesn't support POP or Exchange On-Premise mailboxes.

Interestingly running Outlook using Rosetta does not solve the problem. I suspect a different in SPOTLIGHT indexing on M1 operating systems as you do get results on Intel.

Yes, there has to be something like this. Something had to change probably in the Spotlight between 12.0.1. => 12.1 what broke the integration with MS Outlook. Because Spotlight alone is able to find messages. I wonder how long it will take to fix this bug :-( One would say that the testing procedures take into account new machines with M1, M1 Pro, ...

The problem is not limited to Apple Silicon Macs. I have the same trouble on several different Intel Macs.

Exactly. The "New Outlook" seems to be an incredibly stupid decision, especially from a business point of view. People use Outlook because it works with Exchange servers. There are enough other (better) email clients for the small stuff. I'm about to say goodbye to Outlook and switch to Apple Mail for good: I'm not finding my emails in "Old Outlook", I'm not getting my emails in "New Outlook".

Probably an Outlook thing, not only a Monterey 12.1 issue...
As i went through many sites and thread Outlook had several issies in the past related to search but this one is new connected with the upgrade to Monterey 12.1 and MS support has no remedy to solve it. Bg fix is needed.
