Just a heads up: Monterey 12.1 broke the drivers for Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S61 & Komplete Kontrol. Not sure about anything else NI, but this one is bad - MIDI dropping in and out, KK plug locking up etc. Dreadful Apple practice re. customers & 3rd party as usual, tho' did not really expect to find this on a point update. Rolled back to macos 12.01 and everything works as it did before.
Apple broke? Or was it possibly bad programming on behalf of the vendor?

Since we don't know either it's better to not just out and out blame Apple.

There is a small toggle button in the top right of outlook which will give you all the joy and pain of this experience

Only works with 365 accounts and has some limitations, but isn't a bad interface and the search works - think this is independent of spotlight!
Not a solution for us using Exchange as e-mail server :-(

I have a 365 account but do not see this toggle button on mine.

Then that is odd as that current. Is the server address (advanced button) https://outlook.office365.com...?

Where is this "Advanced" button. This is Office 365 installed on my Mac from the pkg downloaded from Microsoft. Is there some other version of Outlook? In the Updates, clicking on Advanced, I have it set to "Current Channel".

Hi. I've been trying to use 'new outlook' but it seems that the new outlook doesn't sync emails past the last ten days from Gmail. Are you experiencing a similar issue? I can't seem to find any support regarding the new outlook for mac online.
You need to toggle back to an “old” version to get all your historical emails downloaded. After the download is completed switch to the “new” so the search will become workable… I hope. Thats what I’m doing right now sitting here waiting all my 70k emails to download again as I deleted a profile and created a new one before I found this forume, before I was trying everything to fix it even called a shaman with a tambourine who also failed to cast my outlook fixing a search issue )))

In preferences >>accounts >>advanced.

As I have said before neither Apple of Microsoft give a flying f........ This is going to damage my ability to do business as I have multiple email accounts. Do you think they are going to compensate people for the extra cost from what they have stuffed up - NO!!!!!!! This is appalling in this day and age to so severely stuff something up. At a minimum they should pay back the money they have stolen from us through a subscription. But no that won't happen either. They have us by the gonads and they just don't care. Not enough competition in operating systems that is the issue.
Totally agree. I was going to send the invoicing info to my finance today while I had some free time this Sunday… instead of getting the things done I had to waste my time looking for a solution how to get the outlook fixed

I have about 8 email accounts all on a domain that I own. These are POP (not IMAP) and there is no server address in the Advanced section, though the incoming and outgoing servers for each account are the mail servers on my domain.

I have encountered exactly the same problem.

I have temporarily switched over to the new Outlook so that I can carry out "keyword search" quickly. When I need access to my old archived Exchange emails stored on local email folders, I will switch back to the old interface and sort my emails by sender's name.

No choice.. That is a stop-gap measure for now.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem. Done already all workaround with no success (New Profile, delete SQL, spotlight, ...)
Spotlight did return result but this is not usable in that manner. I think definitively this a broken link between. Spotlight and Outlook. I hope MS and Apple will work in concert to solve that issue.

Yes, that is true. The integration is broken - probably some change in the Monterey and bad testing of this Monterey Beta version in conjunction of Outlook by MS :-( I was trying to reach MS support via Contact Support chat incorporated in Outlook but the reaction of MS support is not like we know, that there is a bug connected with Monterey 12.1 and we are solving it. This is at least my case. It is necessary to raise the visibility of this issue at MS so if anybody would contact MS support...

I have contact to MS support via the integrated chat module. They first told me to sudo mdutil -E /and wait for reindexing. Because this does not solve the problem, I had to put my hard drive symbol in spotlight preference dialog for again reindex complete drive.
Then they came with mdimport -L and following by mdls with a path to one mail-file in ~/Library/Groupcontainers....
and send the terminal output to MS.
Today the wanted me to make a search and then send the diagnostic log.
Now it stays at "we will contact you shortly"...

I talked also to Apple Support, but I do not get behind the first level. They say, the problem is with a third-party app and they couldn't do anything...

I was more successful at Apple support and reached 2nd level :), they promised me to handover this issue to MS to gain more visibility at MS.

Same situation here.
Tried everything with no success. New Outlook sucks big time !!! My solution was to move to Apple mail and saved my day !!!!

Not a whole lot of information; however, it appears that the Microsoft Outlook development team is aware of this issue:
This matter has been reported and has now been forwarded to our Dev Team. I have added your information internally to the report.

We apologize for this inconvenience, we have a fix coming up, however, we have no definite information when but please keep Outlook updated.
You also have the option to switch to New Outlook whilst the issue is still present in the Old Outlook

This conversation will be archived, so as not to confuse information in case of a future unrelated issue.
If you require additional Outlook for Mac support, please feel free to communicate with us again by opening a brand new conversation.

Glad I found this thread. I have been trying to re-index Spotlight for days. Thankfully (or not), I have the ability to flip to New Outlook to search but spend the rest of the day working in Old Outlook.

A tip for those not able to use the New Outlook (like moi): I've resorted to using the web version of Outlook for searches.

UPDATE:
The curious thing was that after I followed all steps above and when it was actively reindexing, I searched in outlook and it was pulling results!!! HOWEVER, as soon as it finished indexing the search immediately stopped working again.

I have reported this back to support so we will see what next steps they suggest.

I experienced this as well.

Apple's Mail app has had its own issues too, so I'm looking forward to hearing about your experience. How did you migrate your email and folders to Apple's Mail?

This seems about right: "I'm concerned Microsoft is no longer testing the "old" sufficiently against new macOS developer builds and thus isn't providing bug reports back to Apple."

well I would like to thank MS for giving me the opportunity to move to our Mail app. I did not have to move anything. Just import my accounts (few exchanges and couple of IMAP's and Gmails) and all the 45K mails flew in. On the other hand you need to be MIT graduate to set up a nice signature but nothing is perfect. So far I like it and I can work without any issues. I will probably keep it even when MS provides a fix.
