Apple's Mail app has had its own issues too, so I'm looking forward to hearing about your experience. How did you migrate your email and folders to Apple's Mail?

This seems about right: "I'm concerned Microsoft is no longer testing the "old" sufficiently against new macOS developer builds and thus isn't providing bug reports back to Apple."
Did not have to migrate anything. I just added my accounts.

OK. Thanks. I have a bit different use case. I've archived offline email (no longer online) in folders going back a number of years that I still access. I can Export but it's to an OLM formatted file, and Apple Mail wants to Import from an MBOX format.

Received this note from the Outlook help desk:

"We understand the inconvenience this is causing you. This issue is now known for MacOS Monterey users and our team is investigating this matter thoroughly.

Allow me to include your ticket to the report for our Dev team's reference."

Search "answers Microsoft Outlook not talking to Spotlight" for a related thread and hopefully a future answer from Microsoft.

Never try to solve a problem without searching here first... I had already struggled with this for some time, because it wasn't the first time, I had to build the Spotlight index again.

My workaround with the Exchange server, I need: I have added the Exchange account in Apple Mail also just for searching.

Yes, I am using as a workaround to search messages OWA web interface to our corporate Exchange account. But it is the shame for Microsoft that he did such a poor testing. If even he did some. Because when I was trapped by this bug I was searching though the internet and this bug was reported by some users when the Monterey Beta 12.1 was launched. We can only speculate if Apple did some undocumented change in Spotlight API but the testing is according me on MS site. I hope MS will release a bug fix soon, because the affected users and mainly from the business/corporates. And Apple should add pressure to MS because in the end the logo on the affected computer is their.

*Not an endorsement, nor do I have experience with this company or product other than a recent good support contact. I think I may have found my new mail client for my 40Gb of archived mails and many folders. I'm optimisitic.

Search for "eM Client".
Go to site and look at Downloads, and version history, and Mac. A version 9 beta for Mac was just posted. eM support indicated v9 has improved Outlook importing. Free 30 day. Free for non-commercial use, 2 mail accounts. $50. one-time for Pro version app.
I exported from Outlook to a OLM file to an external drive, as I didn't have enough storage space on my MacBook Air M1.
I used eM Client v9 to import from that OLM file.
Searches are working in the eM Client app and found emails are sorted in a date view correctly. (When I tried version 8, there was a problem. Their support advised me to wait and try version 9.

I'll update this post, but it may not be today. I'm sure it'll take me time to adjust to it. I've been with Entourage and Outlook for 15+ years.

The workaround is only to use different email client, at least for search. MS is claimimg, that they know about the issue and are investigating it. Hope they will release the fix soon. This is the only solution.

I've also received the same response from support. 12.1 broke it. Does anyone have a public ticket we can all comment on?

MS have released 16.57.21121700 on insider preview today - can't find any release notes for it anywhere... Have tested on my 12.1 install - doesn't appear to have resolved the issue though.

Not a good news. Does anybody have a newer feedback from MS support about this bug? I was trying to ask them using Contact support chat, but no answer at all.

Here is Microsoft answer:

Thanks for your response. We appreciate your efforts in providing the requested details. We've received multiple reports of search not working post updating to Monterey 12.1 and it needs to be looked up by the Apple Engineering team.

Hmm, is seems that me are moving in the circle. Because Apple support told me, that it has to be solved by MS :-( Has anybody some statement from Apple?

This is clearly an Apple issue. Someone in this forum mentioned exactly what seems to be missing that broke search.

Also apple has said on feedback that "We're actively investigating this issue, and would like you to provide some additional info & logging."

Does anyone know what is the standard response time from Apple for a query? Its almost been a week and I haven't gotten feedback on system diagnostic files I shared with them.

I just got this response from MS Support ?
Thank you for sharing all the requested information, we have a few users reporting the same thing and it seems like the latest Mac OS update is causing this issue. So I would suggest that you contact Apple Support and check if they have an update for this.

Would you be so kind to try to contact Apple support then. I did it several times, they were polite but trying to persuade me that the only subject responsible to fix this bug is Microsoft... You have this answer from MS so you may provide this MS response to them.

Just a heads up: Monterey 12.1 broke the drivers for Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S61 & Komplete Kontrol. Not sure about anything else NI, but this one is bad - MIDI dropping in and out, KK plug locking up etc. Dreadful Apple practice re. customers & 3rd party as usual, tho' did not really expect to find this on a point update. Rolled back to macos 12.01 and everything works as it did before.

How is this Apple's fault? Shouldn't Native Instruments, Microsoft, et al. be testing their software with the beta of each macOS update to ensure compatibility (and did not beta users also report these issues to them)? Now if the software in question was Mail, GarageBand, etc. then of course it would be Apple's fault, but the apps in question here are third party apps.

Would you be so kind to try to contact Apple support then. I did it several times, they were polite but trying to persuade me that the only subject responsible to fix this bug is Microsoft.

Well, it is . . . it's Microsoft's software that's not working, not Apple's. Third party apps need to conform to macOS, not vice versa.
