More Confirmation of 3G iPhone Case Design?

Everyone knows Apple is trying to play catch up with the Zune. The large slot on the top is a multipurpose port which will be used initially for an FM radio receiver! In the future you will be able to plug in other important devices, like a cable to share songs between iPhones. It is also rumored that they have developed a new DRM which will require a dongle to be plugged in for each artist, offering even better protection for the consumer.

Also, the rumors are wrong. Apple will sell the new iPhone in 2 colors: brown and skid-mark.

With a little luck, Apple may be able to compete...

I noticed Arnold Kim has started using his whole name in the posted by area now! No longer "hiding" behind the "arn" moniker eh?

I don't know how long that's been going on - but it's the first I noticed it. Has there been any other site mods recently that I've also been oblivious to?

Looks like the element of surprise is quickly being replaced by the sneaky 'check the back of the coat closet' antics frequently deployed during the winter or birthday months. Yes, this is a mac rumors website.. but I would call this a surprise buster. Of course it's going to have a camera in the front for video conference, look, it's right there in the injection mold! This news may have already been reassured with proof.. but it sure is taking the fun out of that initial keynote speech.

Maybe I need to subscribe to the 'wild and completely implausible mac rumors' forum.. there we could discuss :apple: branded+designed cars, food, and toothbrushes. Only to be damn impressed by our speculation when the items were announced.

Sorry for this semi pointless post... just though the rumors are getting a littttle too real.

It is very common for Apple to release the specs of a new product so companies like griffin can get new products in the pipe. I am looking at this and noticed the absence of a hole punch for the home button. also the sides do not allow for any of the other switches. So i am a little nervous to call this a final mold ready for production. Also wanted to bring up the idea that the larger ear space might allow for a speaker phone. I am also guessing that apple may of excluded the bottom speaker to allow for more size of 3g and a second frontal camera.

just guessing.

Regardless of what we may think though apple will have to make some design changes in regards to size. I dont care what color it is to be honest I just hope it does all the super cool stuff that is rumored out here.

It could be pink for all I care thats why we have companies like GRIFFIN!

So yeah, looks like there's a bigger ear piece... i hope it's for a camera! ... yes, that'll do. Seriously I hope it's for a camera. :D And I really hope Rogers gets it this year and not too late in the year. They better lower their prices.

so, im excited as the next guy about iphone gen 2, but has apple even said they are releasing it now? and with 3g? wouldnt it be funny if apple waited until say...january to release a new phone!
we are talking about rumors of rumors of rumors!

Thats a bunch of *****. Apple does not need to catch up with Zune. You are so way off base here. I can not believe you are so dumb and stupid at the same time!!

Apple has no need to compete with the Zune. The Zune sucks. It is common knowledge amongst smart people that Apple is trying to head off the impact of the release of the Radio Shack Transister telephone. I heard this phone will bring back the expanding metal antennae we have all so missed and will use teflon coated dials on the side to help tune into fm radio while you are voice conferencing from your white single ear bud. This phone will be the iphone killer. Apple is scared. I did also see a picture of the battery belt in leopard stripe Griffin is designing for its launch.

So get your facts straight!

I called the ATT here in charleston and the person said they have plenty and they keep them in stock. Makes me wonder if ATT will offer a contract incentive on the 1stG iphones after the new release.

Agreed. What's with all the complaining? There are what... an average of 4 or 5 front page stories per day? That's too many headlines for people to deal with? It's not like the 10.5.3 release was booted to Page 2 in favor of the Griffin 3G case story. If MR turned into a news aggregating headline site with 30 stories of fluff every day it'd be an issue, but that's not the case. Keep up the good work, arn.

hope you wrong because if there will be accesoriyes that you have to plug in ... no way it's so anoying to care this staff with you .. main reason why I bought iPhone it's that I dont have to care at the same time iPod and Phone ...

I have a feeling it's like the iSkin for iPod's where the wheel itself has a rubber coating over it to protect it. I think this mold will protect the Home button and probably have some sort of circular outline for the button itself on the material the mold is made out of, instead if a cutout.
