Most underrated aspect of the iPhone 4?

We're talking *underrated* here. Seeing as the display is really the only feature of iphone 4 I see praised all that much, I would not call that under rated (honestly, in my opinion, it's over rated. It's nice but it's not something I'd buy the iphone solely for).
Personally I'd say the better GPS function. Loads better than my 3G.
Or maybe the gyro since I still haven't seen much try to make use of it (I still haven't found a game to play with the gyro at. Everything I've seen seems so much like something I'm totally not interested in so don't want to pay money just to be able to play with the gyro.

Apple covers it well on their website, but to the average Joe, it is the most underrated feature. To them, it is just a screen. Even the media don't say specifics about it. They'll quote Apple on the retina display, but your average Joe won't really get it until they see it for themselves.
Apart from folk in the know, I doubt the main reason people get an iPhone 4 is for the screen.

I'd add the most underrated aspect is the amount of attention it draws. Whether you like it or not, when you're using an iPhone, people know it. And that makes some people mad/jealous/whatever.

The new chip tracks with perfection, and gives an instant fix. True, that initial fix is just a triangulation estimate, but you can start your nav program immediately (to review your turn list, for example), and the accuracy is great shortly thereafter.
Navigon and the iPhone 4 are IMO as good as a strong stand alone GPS system.
A great improvement over the 3GS in tracking ability.

Screen is actually overrated. Compare it to all 3.7" devices with 800x480 resolution and you won't be able to tell a difference unless you stick it in your face. Like i've mentioned many times before, it definitely is a wow factor when you're coming from a 2002 like iPhone3gs screen, but not when you come from another phone manufacturer. You see, other phone manufacturers are ahead of the game when it comes to hardware.
Considering that's the MAJOR hype about the phone and it's not THAT much better than other comparably sized screens... THAT equals overrated, not underrated.
my freinds droid incredible is nothing compared to the iphone. When I use his I'm still amazed at how much better the iphone screen is.
Not trying to be a fanboy. I like droid phones but The screen isnt comparable at all.

It's over use as a phone and internet device etc.
I found that ever since I got my iPhone 4 on release day, I rarely even use my Macbook and when I need a bigger screen I pick up my wife's iPad for some quick browsing, but I could live just with the iPhone alone. Although I did love my 3GS I do not think it had the same WOW factor, and the screen is unreal, and much quicker then the 3GS.

Underrated:
- Screen: reading about the 'Retina' effect, or the resolution figures is nothing compared to the experience of actually looking at it. it is literally stunning, especially at full brightness, so much so that it can hurt the eye. the size of the text i can read clearly is virtually microscopic; and i have near super-human eyesight; and no, i'm not kidding. no more pinching/fumbling your way around webpages like in the 3g.
as for the 800X480 phones that were mentioned, well, not everybody has one of those HTC devices, or the Samsungs. they're much much less common than iphone 3's where i am situated.
-processor: it can play, hold your breath, raw 45 Mbit 1080p video absolutely seamlessly. no audio syncs problems, dropped frames, glitches or anything. my moms dual core laptop cannot play those flawlessly, like the iphone 4.
-build quality: it's a consumer phone, not jewelry. but is crafted like one.
-GPS: +1, here. i've noticed the insane precision of the GSM module over the 3gs, especially if you're moving. literally, within a feet or two accuracy; but is it necessary? NO!?

-thinness: i prefer the ergonomics of the 3G, because it curves upward near the sides, so is actually thinner there; it rests in your hand much more comfortably and soundly. the iphone 4, i feel as if i'm going to drop it any time. looks new and unique after the 3g (and i'm absolutely bonkers over anything metal), but i think it's a step back, functionality-wise. the 3G is so much more pleasing to hold. not just a subjective taste on my part, i think; most people will prefer better ergonomics.
-front camera, facetime, etc: i may not be the most social person, but this feature is probably the most overrated, and one which i'll seldom use. nice for bragging rights, but little else.
-camera: not necessarily overrated, but, the 720p is nowhere near what you'd expect even from a digicam. better than nothing and even VGA; still the quality, smoothness, just isn't there. yes, i shouldn't be comparing it to a digicam, but it was a disappointment nevertheless. a larger lens was needed. still performance is even more disappointing. capture-the-moment functionality only, as it is.
-4G: 'nuff said

+1. My poor MBP is collecting dust. It's amazing how many tasks the iPhone 4 handles that used to require my firing up the laptop.
And, yes, the WOW factor definitely is there. People NOTICE this phone, more so than others, including 3GS.
The gyroscope is definitely the most under-rated feature. Play Eliminate:GunRange and you'll get a taste of its potential.
See, that's the only one I've heard of that takes advantage of the Gyro and I'm just interested in a shooting range game.

+1. You forget how amazing the screen is until you put it next to, say, a 3GS. I recently showed of my iPhone 4 to a friend and when he pulled out his 3GS, both his and my jaw dropped.
I agree with the Retina Display, it AMAZING! Compared to my friends Droid X theres no comparison. Details and small text are crisp and clear on the iPhone and much worse on the Droid.
I think the battery life is definitely the most underrated aspect. Texting all day, some email, music, facebook, and some web browsing I last 2 days. It's insane only having to charge this thing 3 times a week.
