I'd consider myself pretty fussy when it comes to screen's. It is bright with as you said excellent ppi. Viewing angles are good too. Maybe not as good as the iPhone 5 etc but none of the rubbish you normally get. Perfectly viewable from every angle. If i were to critisize it in any way it would be the camera but even it is not bad. I don't see it as a budget phone. I see it as an experiment by google who as a company can afford to do this.

Everything i needed to put in is in and no lag. Hope this helps. :)

Oh and Go For It!

How is the screen compared to the iPhone 5? I know it has a higher PPI, but is the screen the same or better quality than the iPhone 5? I tried a Lumia 520 and the screen on it sucked so bad that it scared me off of budget phones. But I'm very interested in the Moto G.

I have a 5s, a Moto G and a 520. There isn't much to choose between the 5s and the G in terms of clarity, brightness and touch responsiveness. The screen on the 520, by comparison, looks and feels plasticky.

It looks like Motorola might have a HIT product on their hand.

From their website:

See list of supported cellular frequencies for each Moto G model below. Check with your wireless carrier for compatibility and coverage. Neither the Global GSM nor the US GSM models are compatible with CDMA networks.

Due to high demand, your Moto G may take 5-7 days to ship.

This phone kind of went under my radar. How good is it? I have a 5S but am considering getting either this or a Nexus 5 to try out and possibly switch to from the iPhone. I could make quite a bit off selling my 5S.

Coming from a 5S I would go for the Nexus 5 ahead of the Moto G. The G is a great phone for money but the Nexus 5 is a level above it again.

I am thinking between the Moto G and N5 because they are both extremely cheap unlocked. The Moto X is still $650 unlocked. Plus I don't care so much for AMOLED screens. They tend to be over saturated in my opinion.

Noticed RAM usage went down a good amount on my Nexus 4 after updating. Not that I ever worried about my RAM usage to begin with but it was still nice to see that I could get some more longevity from my device. Should be a great update for the 1gb of RAM on the Moto G.

I'm surprised that the Global GSM is selling better.

Sold my Note II yesterday and purchased a MOTO G Color Edition, comes w/ a red, black, white & yellow/lime backcase (I will mostly use the yellow/lime).
Patiently waiting for it to arrive, but it will only next week :/

I hope the G will last me long enough, as i'm tired of putting down a lot of $$$ on high end phones every year.

The nice thing is, the G can do everything an average smartphone user would need, and it's cheap enough that you can upgrade it every year for 3 years and still come out less that you would for something like one unlocked Note 3.

I hope so... I'm sure the Moto G 02 will be a even nicer surprise.

Do you mind posting pictures of different backs?

Will do, as soon as it arrives. Should be here around Wednesday latest.

Why is that a surprise?

Amazon.com serves USA customers.

It would make more sense that USA customers would purchase the US GSM version instead of the Global GSM version.

Global GSM (make sense if you travel abroad or use AT&T and its MVNO)

US Compatibility: All GSM Networks including AT&T and (2G) T-Mobile
Optimized to work with 3G (UMTS/HSPA+) networks when roaming outside the US. Only supports 2G coverage on T-Mobile.

US GSM (make sense if you want to use both AT&T and T-Mobile, switch between them etc...)

Compatibility: All GSM Networks including AT&T and T-Mobile
Optimized to work with 3G (UMTS/HSPA+) networks when operating inside the US. 3G coverage may be limited when roaming outside the US.

If you are switching from a 5s I highly recommend you try the moto X instead. While this phone is a an excellent budget phone, it still is a budget phone.

The Moto X in my opinion is the best all around smartphone sold today at any price. It has great battery life, a great form factor, amazing performance, and the build quality is top notch. While on paper it doesn't sound like the best phone in reality and real world use, it outperforms everything out there, including the Nexus 5 in my opinion.

The amoled screen in the Moto X is not your typical amoled screen. The whites are actually white, the color profile is very well calibrated, and its not pentile. Its full rgb.

My moto g arrived yesterday!!! I owe you guys some pictures.
For now, I must say that the lime case is beautiful, the phone size and weight is perfect. It just feels right to hold. (Coming from a note ii btw).
