I wonder if Motorola/Lenovo will stick with the gigantic 5.7" screen size for 2016's Moto X. I wonder if they have the resources to split their line, and have a smaller ~5" device, and then a larger ~5.7" device.

I personally think they should. I have a feeling the large 5.7" Moto X this year alienated a lot of people who didn't want such a large device, but didn't want to downgrade to a Moto G.

I'm asking for someone...

Anybody own an unlocked Moto G running with T-Mobile network in the US? And if so, anyone have the Marshmallow update? And if so, can anyone confirm whether Voice over LTE works on Tmobile after the Marshmallow update? Can you make and/or receive calls while on LTE on Tmobile?

EDIT: Or more specifically, if the Moto G knows how to switch to 3G for voice calls (making and receiving) automatically, and then switching back to 4G after the call is done. That's acceptable, too. Apparently, like the Moto E, the Moto G will never have Voice over LTE with Tmobile due to lack of certification. Bummer. But would be satisfied if it could auto switch to 3G for calls.

Anyone?

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a cheap smartphone to use on travels to slightly less safe areas in South America where I'd rather not be prancing around with my big shiny 6 Plus :p

So I'm looking at the Moto G 2015, seeing that I can get it for ca €150 new. That's the 8 gb version though... Does anyone here have experience with this phone, am I going to suffer from getting the 8 gb version? Any other major issues to report?

All the ads I find state that you get the micro USB cable but not the actual charging block, has that been your experience too? That'd be another €30 on top I guess...

I'd prefer to get the 16 gb version of course, as it's only like €40 more, but I can't find a good place to buy one (need to have it by Weds. at the latest) here in Sweden.

The other option I'm considering is an iPhone 5s (better in many ways, since I'm all-in on Mac/iOS right now) but I don't see them going for less than €350 which is a touch more than I'd like to spend on a backup phone like this.

A nice thing about getting the Moto would be that I get to play with Android again...

Any recommendations appreciated :D

It supports MicroSD and with marshmallow you can combine storage so it acts as one. So yes 8gb is fine as long as you supplement with MicroSD.

Doesn't come with a charger but you can get an official Moto microusb charge for €10 on eBay.

I am with Koodo here in Canada. Canadian version of Moto X received Marshmallow in the middle of January. From what I can tell, the performance is little bit worse. But I did not do factory rest, that should help performance little bit.

Becuase Koodo is under Telus, and Telus has no VoLTE yet. So the phone will switches to 3G automatically, and will switches to LTE after call. It will take couple second to do so, but will revert back to LTE.

Thanks for your input guys :) I ended up finding a perfect condition 5s for €250 with an original Apple leather case included. Kind of the boring option as I wanted to fiddle with Android a bit, but it's the more practical option for now.

OK i got a great deal on the force, the catch ?? Very small scratch on the shattershield and annoyingly i am unable to buy a replacement.

Would someone be able to help me.

I need to buy
http://www.motorola.com/us/protection/droid-turbo-2/moto-shattershield-lens-replacement.html

(Also available in UK store)

http://www.motorola.co.uk/accessories/film-protectors/moto-shattershield-lens-replacement-eu.html

However due to the archaic restrictions it needs to be purchased from UK store or USA store by someone in that country.

I'm willing to cover costs by sending you via PayPal the cost of screen protector and additional shipping from USA or UK to Ireland.

If someone can please help me drop me a PM. Sadly there's no other way I can circumvent Motorola's online store policy :(

Thanks folks.

Edit : a macrumors regular has stepped in to help. Thank you to them, their assistance is greatly appreciated. :)
