Google is selling Motorola Mobility. What does this mean for the moto x and the future of Motorola?
Death and destruction.

Apparantly the moto X was actually developed independently from google contrary to the popular belief. Lenovo also plans on keeping motorola functioning as a seperate company. Hopefully they realize the value of stock android and don't waste resources developing an awful android skin.
Well, that was a kick in the nuts.
Looks like its either Nexus or HTC for my next phone.
Well, I just used my $100 discount and got myself a White kevlar woven Moto X with red metallic accents and GSM unlocked, so I can use it on either T-Mobile or AT&T. Not bad for $322 all said and done.
I have wanted the Moto X for so long, glad I will finally be able to have one. Very happy right now. Should have the phone on the 7th.
I just got home and I'm now reading the news, and I feel like going down to Google and punching someone in the face, but I don't want to get arrested for assault. Damn I really loved my X, and I was really loving Android on my X. I haven't felt this way about a phone since my 3GS. I guess I'll be looking at either Sony or back to Apple, but I really don't like these ugly, brick phones that both companies keep making.

I hope they continue in the same exact direction, because they were doing everything right.
I would agree, with the exception of international roll out. International roll out of Moto X has been far too slow. Even now, moto maker is still US only I believe. To the rest of the world, it's basically just a concept.
It's not like current Motorola phones will just quit working...Lenovo buying moto means death of an OEM that started to provide us with handsets running lean android with fast updates.
If you don't believe me, go look at their flagship tablets and phones sold in other parts of the world. Heavily skinned android and handsets are just getting 4.3 recently...
So yeah, if nexus line gets canned, and Google edition phones remain US only, its back to iOS for me. Have used all the "value added" skins including the famous touchjizz for years and there is nothing of value I lost after flashing a Google edition ROM over the feature packed crap these OEMs push. No go for me.
It's not like current Motorola phones will just quit working...
We're likely not going to see the effects of this sale until next year.

For long? It has only had one update, and 4.4.2 has been notably nonexistent. I'd say that's already happened.Yeah and its not like moto phones will keep the fast updates advantage either for long.
If you are rooted you can replace the apks with the ones from 4.4.2. Works fine on mine. For long? It has only had one update, and 4.4.2 has been notably nonexistent. I'd say that's already happened.
I really need the ActiveSync fixes in 4.4.2.

I have an unlocked Moto X direct from Moto Maker. Why should I have to wait for a carrier?4.4.2 is currently in soak test mode. Usually gets updated shortly there after from the carriers.
