Moving from iPhone 6 to Galaxy S7

Hey guys, I've been a long time iPhone user. I've used the iPhone 1st Gen, iPhone 3, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5 and now, the iPhone 6.

Now, it's time to try out new things. I just tried the Galaxy S7 edge in store and just loved it. However, I wonder if it's easy to transfer my files from my iPhone 6 to Galaxy S7.

My internet connection at home sucks for uploading (80k/sec) so cloud is not an option. Would take me forever.

I don't need to transfer everything from my iPhone. All I need is my contacts and all my SMS (from my contacts and the other ones too), my call logs (if possible) and my music/photos/videos (if possible).

I heard about Windershare MobilTrans, did anyone try it? Seems like a good option, but seems s bit expensive. Any other free option?

Use Samsung SmartSwitch. When I switched to my Note 5, it copies over Contacts, Photos, Messages, Emails, and a bunch more. You can do it via Bluetooth (which will be very slow, unfortunately) or use an OTG cable to link the two phones directly.

Only thing I'm not sure on is if it copies music. My music is entirely streaming based, so I had no local files to experiment with.

If you have a backup of your music in iTunes or on your computer though, it won't be hard to get on your S7.

I did this and was happy as a pig in poop then on day 13 (14 days to return) I said OMG what am I doing? And rushed to the store to return it. I was having an anxiety attack until I got an iPhone 6s Plus back. Yes I'm aware that I'm insane.

I tried the s6 and the damn thing was a 4 hour pocket heater then it would die. I had it replaced twice and finally left my phone carrier to get something different. I had the G4 for 8 months and then it would no longer turn on. They told me I would be without a phone for over a week while they fixed it. I switched to iPhone. I have a Mac and an iPad so it only makes sense. Apples reliability and customer service when issues do arise are second to none. Nonetheless, I wish you the best with your switch.

A few weeks ago I ordered the S7 Edge from Verizon and that night got stressed about it so cancelled it.

+1 for Samsung Smart Switch. It will copy your personal data including text messages and images. I don't remember if it copies music, but if not, I'd use Google Play Music to match your music to the Cloud.

If using data is an issue, you can copy and paste your iTunes library over to the Music folder from your computer (if you're on a Mac, get the Android File Transfer app)

I have to laugh about at the folks who got scared and cancelled their order. Apple has you exactly where they want you.

My iPhone 6 is paid off and I'm SERIOUSLY considering an S7. I can always go back to the 6 if I don't like it. The GPS doesn't work in my 6 and the battery only lasts about 3 hours. So I doubt the S7 can be any worse from a quality perspective.

But to the OP, from what I've heard the Samsung switch makes moving everything over a breeze - including music.

Enjoy your S7 Edge. I had an S3 and an S5. They had their issues, but they were great phones that served me well. Been playing with my friend's S7 Edge for a few weeks now and it's an amazing device with the best screen I've ever seen on a smartphone. I'm rocking a 6s at the moment and it's a been a pretty positive experience so far, but who knows what my next phone will be. I guess whoever steps it up the most come one and a half year's time. Maybe even HTC! The HTC 10 is pretty awesome. It's a good time to be in the market for a new phone right now. So many great options out there.

After owning a iPhone 3GS/4/4S/5/5S/6/6S I thought let's give the Samsung S7 a chance.
This cause of the good reviews of the S7 and I felt iOS has become very very dull and most important; closed system with hardly any customazation.

I must say its quite hard to switch over to Android after all my iPhone's I owned, but wow! I am really very very impressed by this Samsung S7.
Photo's are a real beauty, software, TouchWiz, is pretty good ( I am using the Nova Launcher).
But most important to me; the level of customazation with Android really ''impresses'' me. As Apple is nearly completely closed. That's why I looked at alternatives and came to the Samsung S7.

Further, this S7 is really fast in daily use and master in multi tasking.
As a iPhone junkie I am sold to this piece of ''art'' by Samsung

What I'm reading though is that the snapdragon version isn't rootable yet and there's no way I would give up the warranty and Samsung pay just to have a rooted phone.

Getting the Exynos version is preferable actually on account of the unlocked boot loader, less bloatware and the better battery life but no way can I chance getting the phone from other than Verizon because only they offer 14 day return window.

I have the Exynos version, so I was fortune to be able to Root. I said bye bye to al that pre intstalled crap, but to be honest, there was not really a lot of those pre installed bloatware apps which most of the US models have.

Love what Samsung is doing, but could never switch because the effort to leave the ecosystem is not worth the hassle. iMessage, photos in the cloud, iCloud in general.... they all work wonderfully. As do some iOS specific apps that I use. Apple would have to seriously screw up for me to leave.

Apple has got you there....right there where they want you to be!

Expect iMessage and FaceTime ( I hardly use FaceTime and we mostly WhatsApp here in Europe) all my iCloud services work perfectly fine with my Samsung S7 together with my Mac. You just have to know which Android apps (e.g. Calendar and Mail apps) to use.

Yes, that is one of several perks with the Exynos chip.

You will love the S7. I move back and forth with android and apple. Apple has really fallen behind. The Wondershare Moabile Trans is a great product. I have it on my MacBook Pro and I like it because it gives me a copy of my phone in case I ever need it. I did use Samsung Smart Switch last week on my wife's Galaxy S7 and it transferred everything perfectly, including putting the icons exactly where they were on her Galaxy S6. Forget the Apple Iphone 7. It will be old and tired. When the Iphone 8 comes out, they might be relevant again.

Another very useful feature of the Samsung S7 is the amazing battery. My battery lasts 2 days easily where I get a little more then 1 full day with my iPhone 6S. And I use my smartphone heavily with all kinds of Apps, webbrowsing and listening to music (Spotity streaming).

And then there is Adaptive Fast Charging; my Samsung S7 is charged, from 20/30% to 100%/full in about 1 hour.
Sometimes I just charge it for about 30 minutes and it gives me about 40-50% battery. That's really amazing.
