Apple has got you there....right there where they want you to be! ;)

Expect iMessage and FaceTime ( I hardly use FaceTime and we mostly WhatsApp here in Europe) all my iCloud services work perfectly fine with my Samsung S7 together with my Mac. You just have to know which Android apps (e.g. Calendar and Mail apps) to use.
So what Apps do I Need to Sync reminders and calendars ? I have an a5 2016 and an iPad Air 2 to be Synced.
Love the a5's Build and Design.software could be a bit faster but hey I saved about 380€ compared to an iPhone 6s ( had many issues with the iPhone 6s)

For Android, there's no point in paying $$$ for Samsung. I rather just get a xiaomi for fraction of the price. Same level of support (mediocre), hardly any differentiation.

SmoothSync for Cloud Calendar, working perfectly fine between my Samsung S7 and my Apple devices at home

This app can be used for several iCloud services

edit to my last post #21 from earlier this morning:

Another very useful feature of the Samsung S7 is the amazing battery. My battery lasts 2 days easily where I get a little more then 1 full day with my iPhone 6S. And I use my smartphone heavily with all kinds of Apps, webbrowsing and listening to music (Spotity streaming).

And then there is Adaptive Fast Charging; my Samsung S7 is charged, from 20/30% to 100%/full in about 1 hour.
Sometimes I just charge it for about 30 minutes and it gives me about 40-50% battery. That's really amazing.
even the wireless charging stand only takes 2 hours or so to charge from 100%..very impressive.

That's not true. as long as xiaomi doesn't sell officially in Europe the support works over China. I don't want to send my phone across the world and wait weeks for it to be repaired. Yes apples service might be good but as far as I got it to knowwith my 6s over the past 4 months they were just fixing the mess and lacking quality control in the factories. So as long as the Samsung device works there is no need for me to judge about the service and I'm happy.
[doublepost=1463399399][/doublepost]Oh and battery life us impressive. Getting 5-7 hours of screen on time easily per charge.

For those of you concerned about syncing calendar and contacts. I use Google for calendar and contacts. Then I set all of my devices ( rMBP, iMac, iPad, iPhone, S7 edge, HTC 10, windows laptop) to use Google as the source for address book and calendar. This way all of my devices sync and have the same information. Make a change on one of them and it syncs to all of them.
To sync your itunes music content and playlists i use iSyncr from the Playstore. It will sync all of your itunes music and playlists to any Android phone. Hope this helps.....

Love what Samsung is doing, but could never switch because the effort to leave the ecosystem is not worth the hassle. iMessage, photos in the cloud, iCloud in general.... they all work wonderfully. As do some iOS specific apps that I use. Apple would have to seriously screw up for me to leave.

The myth of the ecosystem is Apple's best competitive factor. it's extremely easy to move information back and forth. With the exception of iMessage and FaceTime, there doesn't seem to be anything that's not portable from one device to the other.

I used the Samsung connector and it synced all my itunes music across to my edge. Same with photos worked perfectly.

Almost 2 weeks in from iOS with the S7E and I am almost completely comfortable.

I still do not like the messaging as much as iMessage of course as I find out more this weekend as I sent videos and pics to my wife. The videos were really compressed.

I miss Remote on the iPhone for controlling my Apple TV.

I also miss my apple watch a lot as it sits so lonely on the dresser lol.

Very small things but they are things I am missing. I still have about 5 days to decide if I want to go back to iOS and pay the $50 restocking fee for TMobile. I get concerned trying to make it all the way to the new iPhone while making these very small, but important compromises.

I do have JOD so I assume even if past the return window I can still go back to a 6S+ but I would rather not.

You can restore your Samsung from your icloud backup and not lose any of that stuff with Samsung smart switch

I've bounced back and forth between iOS and Android over the years but I'm happy with iOS now

I'm not really that invested in iOS / Apple services (apart from Apple Music, which could easily be replaced by Google Play Music): I use Google Photos for photos, Office 365 / Outlook for mail and office apps and Google Drive / OneDrive for cloud storage. About the only thing I'd miss would be messages

However, there are two main reasons I stick with iOS: the Apple Watch and Apple Pay.

Samsung / Android Pay isn't over here in the UK yet and judging by how long it took Barclays (my bank) to support Apple Pay it's going to be a long time before they do, even if other banks are imminent

A few weeks ago I ordered the S7 Edge from Verizon and that night got stressed about it so cancelled it.
Can you not see how screwed up this whole scenario is. It's a piggin.phone, not a life sentence. Talk about putting way too much emphasis on something. It has a beautiful screen, takes.gorgeous pictures and looks.stunning. Has all the major apps. The end. If you don't like it, no bother...

So why buy a 6s when a 4s will run ios9? Same situation... because no droid OEM. Makes hardware like the s7 edge

Is it safe to buy a Galaxy S7 edge without a receipt or any phone for that matters? Just came back and the guy who wants to sell the phone didn't have the receipt. It worked fine when I tried it, but can it be blacklisted and stop working if the phone was reported as stolen? I was suspicious because he had many for sale. Let me know and I'll call the guy back haha

I cloud backup? How?
When you launch the app it'll ask you if you're transferring from an icloud account. Just type in your username and password and you're done. It'll give you a list of apps as well as replacements and you just select the ones you want.

Nope I can choose the backup but the only thing which can be transferred are contacts. No apps or pics. It says I need to activate the icloud foto storage which I didn't. My pics are stored in the icloud backup of the phone.

You need the receipt for warranty. I don't think that Samsungs warranty works over the serial number

No u don't, I bought a tab S off ebay, registered the serial number on the Samsung website, boom, warranty in place which worked a treat when I had charging issues.

Huh? Have you ever looked at the flagships of cheaper Chinese OEMs? They are getting very good for fractions of the price of Samsung. There's a reason Samsung is losing ground in China.
I buy Apple because I know Apple gives me worldwide support and good service. That to me is worth the premium.
Samsung is charging the same premium as Apple, but offer nothing better in support/service than the Chinese OEMs. So to me, Samsung, no matter what gimmick of features they put on their phones, is not worth the premium since the Chinese OEMs can do the same gimmicks of features for less.
