1) Nobody is innovating a damn thing. Every single cell phone on the market is at a plateau right now. There's only evolutions, no revolutions. The fact that Apple is the first to put a 64bit chips in a mobile phone is actually a bigger deal than most people realize. Sure, it won't be useful until developers get on board and start coding for it, but that's not the real point is it? The real point is that Apple now has a mobile chip with 64bit processing. Think real hard for a second where those chips can go in the future. Also think about the implications for the competitors. Even Droid fanboys should be appreciative because now Apple has set the stage for a cellphone market rushing to implement 64 bit chips with more ram.
2) Retina Display is still one of the most crisp and beautiful looking screens on the market. The competition has all caught up to it now. At this point, it's about subjectivity. Your eyes can only discern so much pixel density. OLEDS are gorgeous too. But they don't look good for everything in my opinion. I don't like their vividness when it comes to videos or certain pictures. But for others, the vivid colors look awesome like in video games or cartoons.
3) Fingerprint? Yea, it's more for "Oh, that's a bit convenient to have... why not?"
I say this constantly and I'll repeat myself yet again... if Samsung took these exact features and components and shoved them into a brand new phone with a big screen, people would be praising them. I suspect the major reason people hate on the 5S (and previous S models at that) is because it isn't a new shell or bigger screen. If bigger screens and redesigned shells are your major concern, then say it. Don't claim that you want innovation in a market where no one is innovating anymore. Kind of hard to innovate when we have all these new features that need time to evolve.
