I’d like to see a Surface Book 4 as a significant update to the “3” I’ve had since 2018. It is a marvelous laptop, very powerful at the time for business uses, the ability to separate the display and use it as a tablet works surprisingly well and is useful in many more situations than I expected, and coupled with Windows 10 Pro has been a workhorse for me. I’d upgrade to a SB4 in a heartbeat. That said, I’m not really expecting a SB4 to be announced, hope I’m surprised.
The Surfacebook lineup was discontinued, basically the Surface Laptop Studio replaces the SurfaceBook.

I had the OG Surface Book, at first I was thrilled with the laptop, but as time went on, I felt it fell into the jack of all trades, master of none. That is, it wasn't a great laptop or a great tablet. The tablet was too heavy, and with most of the computing guts in the display portion of the laptop the wobble while typing was too annoying.

I can't see this continuing, they're better off focusing on doing something really well then one thing mediocre

It will be 10 years of Surface, does anyone think that Microsoft will have anything special to mark that occasion? From what i can see (rumours) the Surface Pro 9 will be the same design, just a spec bump and 2 new colours added (green and blue).

I feel that MS does a half hearted job with the Surface product line. Its like 80% great, but then they skimp on a one or two components. In some cases they roll it out with a prior generation CPU when the competition already was on the latest, or using hard drives instead of SSDs. There always seems to be something that you scratch your head at.

This i agree with, I had the Surface Pro 8 and ultimately i sent it back. While i like the form factor (the kickstand, the keyboard and the design) things like battery life and Windows 11 bugs let it down for me. This time around I might be tempted to get the Pro 9, with the hope that Windows 11 will be better (since it’s been out a while now) and that battery life if improved.

Failing that i may be tempted with the Surface Laptop 5, i have never owned a Surface Laptop before. I could be tempted by the Surface Laptop or Surface Laptop Studio, mainly to play some games, Use in Studio mode for drawing, note taking and stuff like that. Hell i may be tempted to get an external display and hook it up to replace my now old and dying 2012 iMac.

Does it make anyone sense feel old realising this year marks 10 years since the Surface line launched? 10 years since that ad with the school kids ‘clicking’ the keyboard onto the Surface Pro.

It seems the event is only going to be 35 minutes long. Is anyone looking forward too it? I’m not expecting much to be honest.

Ok so those updates do not seem very big. I love the blue surface Pro 9 😍, however I’m not sure if it will meet my needs when it comes to playing the games i want to Play on Steam.

The Surface Laptop 5 looks good too. I do wish they would of added more colours too the 15” version tho.

Well, the Studio 2+ has a decent spec, but, it seems to be available in only 1 spec and is very expensive as a result. Also no design changes at all? It looks a bit old now. But a 3060 should give it some oomph.
Surface laptop is pretty meh.

To me the only new product worth a look is the new Surface Pro 9, I like the new colours.

The Surface Pro 9 and the Surface Laptop 5 have the same specs If i’m not mistaken. Same processors, same Ram, same graphics.

The biggest announcement for me is iCloud Photo's on Windows. I've been looking at many other hardware options to replace my 4,1 Mac Pro and the integration between my phone and Mac has kept me looking at Apple's Macs. This is a game changer..

Nice, I still think the Surface laptop is meh.

Yes that was a smart move on both companies. Surprising too.

that surface studio 2 plus is kind of shame...same everything but they ask that for an soon 2 year old Intel SoC...with an entry mobile gpu?! Also that arm surface pro 9....
The only 2 that are worth is the laptops and the surface pro 9 with intel
Very shame that Microsoft place the same battery capacity in both 13" and 15" surface laptops

Even tho it’s a year older, would the specs on the Surface Laptop studio be better than the Pro 9?

I want something portable. I'm going to get an external monitor and dock while I'm at home. I write, draw and take notes most of the time. I will occasionally game, but nothing too major, just games like Two Point Campus, Age Of Empires, Police Simulator Patrol Officers.

Being able to doc to an eternal monitor is a must, I want a portable desktop basically. Unplug and take on the go when I need to travel and go too work.

I'm satisfied with my Surface Book 2 but that line has been discontinued for I guess the Laptop Studio?
The only reason I would think of upgrading at the moment is because I could use a bit more GPU horsepower for large files in Affinity Photo and the TopazLabs suite.

If I were to upgrade it looks like they've added TB4 to the mix so I can use eGPUs now when in the art studio which would be nice because with my 4K monitor it does struggle a little bit.

Despite having a Book, I never use the touchscreen for any practical purposes. Am I correct to assume that for raw CPU power the Laptop 5 is better than the Surface Laptop Studio?

How does the Surface Laptop look good. Only one USB C and 720p webcams. 1080P is now standard and the headphone jack is a basic one.

I never bought the whole 720p webcam thing. Realistically the video is going to be compressed to high hell through whatever platform your using anyways.
And if the person on the other end is on a phone or tablet it definitely doesn't make any sense to complain about 720p.
