I’m pretty sure Plexamp on macOS supports AirPlay.
It's literally in the screenshot. Compare to

Looks like this isn’t on the list yet. The 15.2 version – some songs on my playlist disappeared from streaming (thanks, streaming). I couldn’t remove them from the playlist on the Mac, it invited me to ‘collaborate’ and that was the only option. I even tried to use it, and got an error because it looks like I can’t invite myself to collaborate on a playlist. I removed the greyed-out tracks on the iPhone, no problems there.

They have introduced new bugs in this version.
I edit metadata for an album in the recently added window (edit: not limited to recently added)
If you select the first track using Get Info, edit it and move on to the next, you might be at some other track or even a track in a different album
They have fixed this particular bug in 15.2

Even after quitting Music, "geo.music.apple.com" stays active and triggers screen time for me.

Airplay to HomePod mini from MacOS Apple TV app is very bad. Continuous gaps and bad sound on 15.2 Sequoia. Anyone else?

I am on MacOS Ventura, how much is the Music App changed to bad from Ventura? I have a lot of music on local files from Bandcamp with custom cover arts, does the new macOs ruin the cover arts and change metadata by itself or am I safe to finally upgrade? I am really scared it would be all ruined. I don't use Apple Music but only my local files, bought music from iTunes or Bandcamp. Is it still the same as Ventura that I move the tracks to app then put into playlists and then move to iPhone?

Am I alone to want a single listening experience (playlist) across all my devices (iPhone, macOS,...)?
I think this already exist at Spotify. You start a session somewhere and you continue it elsewhere.

I have somewhere around 38,000 songs that I did all the meta data including cover art for. I do not remember all the details from Ventura to Sequoia. However, you need to copy ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.APMArtworkAgent/Data/Documents to an external disk along with the Music folder from "Music." After Sequoia installs, open Music and make sure this is unchecked:

Then exit Music and copy the files from the external back to the correct places on your internal. After that you should be good to go. I've now done this at least a dozen times and haven't lost a song yet.

In addition to the artwork, I also copy these folder off and back on:

Books:

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService/Data/Documents/iBooks/Books

Notes:

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Notes.datastore

Stickies:

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Stickies/Data/Library/Stickies/

How is local search working on Spotify these days? I switched to Apple Music because the local search was purposefully made useless and at some point I had enough. Now Apple Music is so buggy and irritating I’m considering going back… if local search got fixed. I want to do what I can do in AM – create playlists that contain both local files and streaming ones, and I need working search of local library for that.

Speaking of which, GROAN at Apple Music (the app) search failing to switch between local and the AM service, then once I do it by hand failing to search until I click and request that again. Even the infamous Sonos app manages. At least it no longer refreshes e-v-e-r-y-t-i-m-e-I-p-r-e-s-s-a-k-e-y. So… thank you from the bottom of my heart, Mr Cue?

FWIW, I have over 100K songs in Music on Sonoma 14.7.1 and it's never worked better (I don't use Apple Music and I embed my own cover images in my Apple Lossless files). Ever since Catalina, I've had issues with some album covers not displaying correctly or at all. Somethings it works fine, but then after another update or upgrade, it doesn't work again. However, from the later versions of Sonoma, I have not had any issues. I want to upgrade to Sequoia, but I'm worried that something will break again, as this thread suggests. So I'm probably stuck on Sonoma for a bit longer. But at least I can confidently tell you that it's safe to upgrade to Sonoma, if you want.

I also have just over 100k songs in the Music App and I use (iTunes) Match (still), I buy most of my music on Bandcamp, plus I want the ability to have the music our band makes to be on my iPhone and iPad and stuff (Match). FWIW, I've found in the last couple months or so that I've reached my limit of uploaded songs! And what's weird is that I've just gone thru and re-added the uploaded tracks back to the Music app again, and voila! They've almost all been Matched, clearing up my issues. For me, the Music app has been MUCH better recently than it's been prior. But YMMV.

Playcount syncing from iPod was working for me on macOS 15.2 until a couple of days ago, now it seems to have stopped. Is anyone else seeing this?

I have now upgraded my M2 MacBook Pro from Sonoma to Sequoia 15.3, and I can report that the Music app is working as it should. I tried 15.2 in a VM but had issues with embedded album covers not showing, but in 15.3 everything seems to work fine, including cover art, selecting, searching, editing and syncing with iPhone/iPad. I don't use Apple Music, only my own 100K+ imported ALAC tracks with embedded cover art. I'm very happy that this upgrade went well! Now I can relax for another year. 🤣

Good to know. I haven't spent much time with 15.3's Music. Thanks for letting us know.

Thanks for the update. Have you done any iPod syncing yet? Are play counts working properly from iPods, and do the iPods show up ok in the Finder?

yes, even with Monterey, sonoma and ventura.
things worked well until late 2023 than buggy the entire 2024.
i never had a great music sound either, as the albums were lacking in depth

what i did was replace everything with a foobar FLAC music app and klipsch BT speaker, two of them
and what a difference!
since i love music from Mozart to Acoustic Alchemy even INXS and prog rock
using the new system is incredible as the sound quality is superior!
one can hear and feel the musical instruments, especially with Jazz, like the bass strings on Pat Metheny's "same river".

my 3 HomePod mini and tv are sitting boxed in a drawer waiting for a new home. 3mini_Ktv.jpg

I did some testing on 15.3 with my 5.5, 6 and 7 gen iPod Classics, and all except one did mount and synced properly with Music. The testing wasn't very extensive, but the quick test I did synced over the play count and Last Played date without issues.

Just for anyone wondering, a few months ago album artwork was being cropped in grid view (chopping off the sides slightly to make it taller than it is wide), but now it's back to being perfectly square, as it should be.

Not sure when they fixed it, but at least in Music 1.5.2.56 it's fixed! :)
