When Touch ID came out, I was able to unlock my girlfriend's daughter's 6s. I posted about it back then, but no one believed me. But it's never been an issue. I just don't unlock her phone.

this is great. Apple seemed to claim that only twins could do this.

Brothers who are 4 years apart and unlocking each others phones. This is concerning.
Why is it concerning? Because you think it means all people who are 4 years apart can unlock each other's phone? Because you have a friend or sibling who looks like you? Because you are worried about a stranger with your face unlocking your phone? Please tell us what the concern is.

Maybe we just can’t see how similar we are then.

Surely this means any twins can unlock each other’s devices?

You and your brother aren't that similar. Maybe to the layperson, you are.

Pupil distance and nose bridge width are already quite different.

Perhaps over time as he uses it you will not be able to open it anymore as they claim it gets more precise over time, and it will continue ‘learning’

I was going to say that. Jaw line and chin also. I would expect FaceID to tell the difference there.

I would too but from reading these posts I’m not too sure anymore.

Yeh he’s told me to stop doing it before the phone becomes mine (which is fair game I’ve told him).

Obviously it’s not an issue for us security wise but was a bit of a surprise when that padlock flipped!

On a slightly unrelated note - anybody know the limit for Apple Pay at Harvey Nichols?

One second. Let me check my irrelevant facts database. o_O

I can confirm this issue....

It worked for me and my brother, and we don’t look as similar as you guys! We both have thick eyebrows and a big nose, but that’s it!

My brother has the new Samsung that works with the face recognition and I can’t get into his phone!!!!! Grr
That’s really interesting, as everything I’ve read says that the Samsung facial recognition system is less advanced than Apple’s.

If this is true and others can do the same, the banks will pull out of Apple Pay quick.

Apple Pay works with a four-digit PIN that can be known and memorized. Face ID is probably still better.

Face ID works but for family members, is probably down to 1:1000. Expecting a fortress of security for a consumer device isn't realistic yet.

You could probably sleep with each other's wives mate... you're basically identical twins as far as I can tell haha

Lol, I thought you guys were twins from the picture. Yall look VERY similar!

They do look very similar and could pass for twins. No doubt about that.

If you look very closely (most don't), one has facial features that are spread out, one has them closer together.

Either or, they are close enough for FaceID to work for either person.

The Pin trumps the finger ID and face ID when it come to the iPhone as the pin can and does over ride all.
