NOTE: This is my own opinion/wishlist/idea, so feel free to discuss how you may change the lineup. I know this most definitely will not be the case next year.

EDIT: Changed the iPhone SE Video to 4K60 from 4K30 since someone pointed out the iPhone 8 and SE 3 already have 4K60 video
you need to get a job at Apple right now! Such talent is wasted )))) Author burn more! I'm off to get popcorn and a bottle of whiskey.

IMO the SE will be 6.1 minimum
under display Face ID too soon I guess 🤔 and if you want the punch hole it’s 6.9 screen minimum? I don’t think they want to separate the functionalities of the normal size and the big size that much
Not to be that person but SE will exactly 6.1" as it's a 12/13/14 rehash. Nothing less, nothing more.

You forgot the iFlip. Makes and receives phone calls. Makes and receives text messages. Contains NO personal data, no credit card data, no camera, no sound recording capability. Most secure cell phone ever! As a bonus, the battery life is over a week!

Recently it dawned on me what I would consider the ideal phone size, and it is approx the height and width of a credit card with a thickness around 1cm.

What I wish it had is satellete comunication (InReach style), and that is about it. So long as it connects to my watch, I am happy. A small screen for quick messaging. Maps, perhaps - watch does that as well.

But the way things are going, I think what I need is not a phone at all. It just is not on the market yet, and I don't think Apple will be the one to bring it.

So as for this line-up - it seems like a logical progrssion and simplification from what is currently offered, but I must ask if this is the progression any of us really need?

Your Air (Pro-Lite) makes the same mistake that every other phone maker (and, increasingly, Apple itself) keeps making — a smaller phone does not need to be a lower-tier device. Smaller phones are allowed to have good specs too.

One quibble: the SE has *never* been a unique design, it’s always an older design with an updated CPU.

That slot should be replaced with IPHONE MINI, THE LAST GOOD IPHONE, POSSIBLY OF ALL TIME.
Believe me, I’d be one of the first people celebrating if the Mini returns.

Also, the SE 4 is supposedly semi-bespoke

Is that not why Apple currently offers both models in 2 sizes, a manageable and a gargantuan size? Unless you’re talking about the discontinuation of the Mini

Yes, but in your lineup (unless I've missed something) you have the regular iPhone, the Air (a bit bigger and a bit more premium) and the Pro (much bigger, much more premium). There should be a smaller Pro in the lineup, not a cutdown version becoming its own mid-tier. As it stands, your Air is closer to the regular iPhone than it is to your Pro.

Sony released their Xperis Pro-i phone a couple of years back that has a 1" sensor coupled with a dual f2-4 aperture.
IIRC the circle of that lens didn’t even cover all of the sensor. It was actually using a portion of the sensor not much bigger than an iPhone’s.

As iPhone 16 pro introduced even thinner bezels; I see potential for an iPhone comeback. There 6,9" and 6,3", so what about an 5,7" iPhone mini?

I went 15PM to 16P to 16PM and back to 15PM.

I want an iPhone that has amazing battery life, a no-notch/island display, eliminate the camera control button, make the display technology better, make it fold from iPad mini size to iPhone size, and just two 48mp cameras. With 48mp, don’t really need three cameras. The wide angle can easily manage at 48mp to zoom in. The zoom lens could be more like 10x. Apple all ready does this with the three settings on the main camera.

I also want to eliminate the camera bump. I mean it can be thicker. But at the moment the camera bump is just as dumb as the Dynamic Island. Just eliminate notches and BS and end up with an under-display FaceID or fingerprint sensor. I really think the display should be the focus.

Finally, I want much better software that allows interoperability with other systems so I don’t have to be locked into the ecosystem.

I think just as Google and Android have lost recent judgments, Apple will start losing and needs to stop the anticompetitive bullying. The only way to do that is regulation. And although I don’t agree with stupid regulations, these giant tech companies and online sales companies (ie Amazon) are ruining small and medium businesses in America. The future should focus on ensuring everyone has a right to compete and there is no ability to compete with Apple. I actually think Apple is the worst abuser of their monopoly of the App Store. And the EU is on the right track which has benefited the world by going to USBC. I just hope the US stops AAPL like the EU did. But right now big companies control everything so probably will not happen.

Cool contemplation but imo there is absolutely zero chance the ‘air’ model will have three cameras on the back or LiDAR. How do you think they would make it thinner when it has the same features as the pro models?

That's the thing. With the recent release of the iPad Pro and Air models, I believe that Apple are moving away from the Air referring to the slimmest and lightest product in a lineup, but instead refers to the model that is in between the Standard Model and the Pro Model in terms of features.

Since the iPad Mini was just released with the A17 Pro and Apple intelligence, I would take an educated guess that the iPhone SE will have that same system on a chip with AI.
