I found that raising the screen so that the center is at eye level cuts the effects of LED bleeding and yellow tint to imperceptible. They were barely there to start with. The result is kick-butt image quality and very comfortable work area.
The drive to the right is my network-shared drive (1TB USB) connected to my Apple Extreme Base station. The drive on the lower right (1.5TB USB) is my Time Machine drive. And the drive on the left (1.5TB FW800) is my archive and iMac HD image drive that I can also boot from if need be.
What are the dimensions of your desk?
I am currently contemplating getting a 27" imac. The largest desk I can get in my room is 100cm wide by 60cm deep. Not sure if the desk would be too small for such a large screen.
I just moved to Mac and I would like to know how to do like you did (the bold text,) I got a WD for Mac 1TB (EW 800)and want to use it as an iMAC HD image drive that I can boot from (I'm still not sure what you meant by this though, more details if you dont mind?) . Is this, (1.5TB FW800),the backup drive? I guess not since you have the Time Machine drive for that already
By the way, what a nice system!!!
I just have a NAS Drive 1TB WD my book world edition connected to my wireless router and WD 1TB FW 800 for backup and transferring some private file.
Should I buy another 1TB HD? I 'm feeling I have been missing something to make my system complete. any recommends?
Hi! That drive has two partitions: 500GB and 1TB. The 500GB partition is my archive - I copy files that I don't use but need for record purposes (TurboTax files, household records, etc). The 1TB partition is where I keep an image of my iMac drive using SuperDuper.
SuperDuper creates a bootable clone of my iMac drive so that I can truly boot from it if my iMac drive is damaged or I need to do repairs of the iMac drive. It kept an image of my 24" iMac and, when I upgraded to the 27", Migration Assistant used that image to move my settings, applications, documents and other files. It took only about 40 minutes to migrate 196GB through the FW800 port...
Of course, I have overwritten the image with my 27" HD since then. I update this every weekend so that if my iMac HD crashes, I can recover from there and only need a few days worth (from the day of the last image update) from my Time Machine drive to get everything up to date.
I guess you could view my setup as a double backup (triple if you count that I use an offsite service for files that are really important to keep).
'Hope that helps. BTW, thanks for the compliment on my system.![]()
Thanks so much for writing this details. I got it now.
Again, what a nice system and person![]()

Here's my setup, with and without flash from my digital Camera.
Loving the mac experience, and even converted the wife as I got her the unibody Macbook to replace her 17" HP Laptop.

Hello, thought I would share and introduce myself as well. Just picked this up two weeks ago. Unfortunately I have to keep my work setup beside it.
Wow! Lovely iMacs setups. I'm getting mine tonight. Thanks for sharing your beautiful setups.
