. You personally do. Apple doesn't seem to be interested in putting one in.

Yet. They didn't seem to see the need for bigger screens until they suddenly did, long after everyone else.

Their LED flash -- which I always used -- is their first lame step toward one, and a not so tacit acknowledgment that visual indicators of notifications have obvious benefits. I would think they'll end up putting one in eventually, if for no other reason than the poor souls who design these phones probably use themselves and would like to stop having to check their phone 50 times a day.

And it was in fact true, when I mentioned I see it being used countless times. So why did you initially question what I've seen?

The same can be said for much that's included on the iPhone today. You will not have to search hard to find iPhone users that want a front notification light.

Because you and I have different experiences. And maybe apple has decided based on market feed, your countless number of times, is less than the worldly total who might want it.

Those who want a notification light, should vote with their dollars. I personally do not care if one is there or not. All I'm saying, is that I have no need for it.

I got hundreds of incoming during the day. I really don't care to see a light blinking. That is my need. Yes I know I can turn it off. But as I said, I don't care; I would neither jump through hoops to get that model, nor eschew it. Your debating with the wrong person, because I'm not against it. I don't see the need for it. Apple is the one against it.

I really don't see the added value at this point. Also, please do explain the value or the vibration feature: a lot of us would like to know. Again you would have to ask tcook@apple.com why one isn't included. I don't make the decisions.

I love the vibration(missed call/text) feature. Many times I get the vibration alert when I just want to move my phone out of the way or move it somewhere else. Very useful when screen is facing down or if not really paying attention to the notification light.

History predicts, iPhone users are pretty much happy with basically any added features as long as it's done right.

I don't understand what you are arguing. People would like to see more features included with the iPhone. But you seem to be arguing being content of not having those features based on the fact that Apple hasn't done so yet. I can only imagine your opinions about touch ID and larger screen sizes if Apple didn't implement it yet. And touch ID is a great example of nobody asking for it, but now being on of the most useful things about the iPhone.

I'm not arguing, in as much as whatever was posted is deemed to be arguing, and I said so that I'm voicing my opinion. I'm stating my opinion that I don't care as to whether apple includes a notification light or not. I'm stating my opinion as to why I find it unnecessary given my daily "workflow". I'm also wondering if apple wants the notification light on the iwatch.

Funny you ask about the larger screen sizes. I don't like it and am hanging on to my 5s. We will see what happens with the next release cycle.

As far as touch id goes, apple didn't really have to alter the clean external appearance of the phone. Sure, they removed the imprint from the home button. Apple many years back was planning on touch id to be a pivotal strategy in access security, payment security, app purchase security.

What pivotal strategy does a notification light bring to the table?

The way you choose to reply to specific comments that has anything to do with features that the iPhone lacks, makes it seems like you are always in rebuttal mode.

You are probably going to eventually have to settle for the 4.7 inch.

Notification light doesn't need a pivotal strategy attached behind it's reason. It's a potential feature that can't hurt anything, and would please many. If you personally don't want it, fine. But I doubt even those who didn't ask for it would complain.

There certainly is a lot of defensive positions here. People get very perturbed when someone says, I don't need 'x' feature and I don't want it on my phone. Those who view 'x' feature as a make or break purchase decision, can't really understand why someone wouldn't want that.

As I said, I really don't care if apple includes or excludes it. It doesn't matter for me, but I can understand, it matters to someone else. Thankfully there are options in mobile phone market. Enough people go to a competitor and apple may change it's position.

You people are arguing over notification light?

^^ this. Have one on my Note 3 and make use of it for sure, but that alone wouldn't be what I would base my choice of phones on.

Besides, with as often as people are holding or using / looking at their phones anymore, is a notification really even needed? IMO, No.

I have a few people I keep my Text Message notifications for on silent as not to draw any attention and it does come in handy as I have it configured for just them and it lights up green. Thus I know but no one else will.

I have to specifically walk into the office to check for the light. It's actually easier to pick up the phone to see if there are any messages.

I can look across the room at my phone and see the notification LED blinking. And I can customize different alerts for different apps with the Light Flow app. As opposed to having an iPhone notification light up the screen when I'm not there and will never know unless I actually turn the screen on. The LED will tell me "hey you have a text," then I can go take the time to pick up my phone.

The LED notification sounds a lot better. I wish the iPhone had this...oh well maybe next year the 6S home button will glow/blink.

Apple has some interesting patents. The home button could be a thing of the past or morphed into another format as a fingerprint reader could be built into the screen with a notification light.

And then everybody will be oohing and ahhing at apple about how they invented the notification light.

I like that it also tells me if it's still charging and when it's done charging.

+1 this is definitely very very nice

What I like about it in general is how easy it is to notice out of the corner of your eye, even when the phone is on the other side of the room. The LED just makes me more relaxed about not missing any incoming stuff which is an awesome thing.

I think iOS is more like that beautiful girl who you crushed in high school. For awhile she seemed perfect in the beginning but her parents from Cupertino were ALWAYS strict and she didn't mature fast enough for you in college when your priorities changed.

Android is like the homely, nerdy girl with glasses you never paid much attention to until recently. She can be reckless at times but she is the better multi-tasker, becoming more attractive now, more flexible to your needs, and perhaps one you can marry and have many intellectual conversations and mental/emotional challenges with if you are patient enough to stick by her.

Neither are perfect and will never be perfect. Up to you which you feel the most comfortable to be with in the short or long term. For me, iOS is for recreation. Weekend fun. Snapping photos and games. The ditzy blond you can have flings with on a weekend. For the Android is like the Wife where you can learn to embrace her imperfections but can offer so much more once you already figured how to deal with her. Yeah, you can marry iOS but watching her wear the same clothes (like the late-Steve Jobs' jeans/black turtleneck attire) and doing tedious routines with her can get quite redundant like military life. And Mama Apple gets very ANGRY if iOS communicates with OTHER people. She only wants iOS to speak with their kind.

Would be cool if they made a multicolor led notification of the ring around the home button and a monochrome led in the middle that would tell you how many notifications. Imagine something like this, where each color represents a different notification and in the center it would give you a number. So if say you had one missed call and one text, the ring would be half red for the missed call and half green for the text with a "2" in the middle because you had a total of 2 notifications.

Sounds like something Microsoft would do. Red ring of death anyone...

I'm assuming this is a joke? The main reason that one wants a notifcation light is to get away from being chained to their phones, always have to look at and turn it on to see if anything's been misssed.

What I like about it in general is how easy it is to notice out of the corner of your eye, even when the phone is on the other side of the room. The LED just makes me more relaxed about not missing any incoming stuff which is an awesome thing.

Of course. It's amazing.

Why are you comparing an old phone (LG G3 is the newest) with a new iPhone?

Are you serious? Setting aside whether the G2 is "old" or not, these are the two phones I like and am deciding between.

Do you think it's more useful for me to compare two phones I'm not interested just because they are the same age?

Settings/ notifications /messages / repeat alerts - change to 10 times

That doesn't solve anything.

Sure it does. Now you know you have a precious message for 20 minutes. You don't leave your iPhone alone for 20 minutes surely.

Are these posts a joke, or or are they coming from teenage girls? Not everyone lives with their phone in their hand, or wants to.

That aside, there are at least two other problems with the repeat alert feature:

1) 2 minutes between alerts can be an eternity. Can you imagine returning to your room where you phone is, wondering if you got any messages, and saying to yourself "I'll just wait to see if it alerts again sometime with the next 120 seconds?" Of course not. You'll just go turn it on and see. Even a slow cycle 'blink' settting on an LED suffers from the same problem: you want to know instantly whether or not there are notifications, not wait even a few seconds. It's human nature, and why you all keep checking your iphones all day long. Waiting for something and wondering about it is not fun or relaxing.

2) Sometimes you don't want to take your phone out and have to check it/clear the alert. It's annoying to be talking to someone or engaged in something and be forced to either take your phone out of your pocket or have it repeatedly vibrate even though you may have felt in the first time. A light going on in your pocket won't disturb you or the other person.

Great analogy! Where did you come up with this?

Love you guys keep talking about a "blinking" light even though I've made it clear you can set it to glow steadily, as I have it -- or not use it at all. It's an OPTION you can use or not use as you like.

Are you purposely distorting the truth here, or just have trouble reading?

I love the vibration(missed call/text) feature. Many times I get the vibration alert when I just want to move my phone out of the way or move it somewhere else. Very useful when screen is facing down or if not really paying attention to the notification light.

Is that's what it's come to? Now we're having to explain the benefits of a vibartion feature?

With SMS Relay, I really don't need a blinking light anymore. Notifications happen on both my phone and my MacBook, so if I miss it for some reason, then something is seriously wrong.
I don't doubt that the notification light is something that you would use. Just not all that important to me at this time.
