Very Nice, I had the 2003, for about 7 months, until I totalled it. I was devastated... :( I loved the thing.

Well congrats to yours. Corolla's are great cars.

Nice job!
Now I have to ask because I always wondered, how come car dealers brand their cars in what seems to be every state except California? If I lived out of state, I'd be pissed if someone painted their stupid name on my car.
I know it seems silly, but not having it here, it makes a difference.

Yeah I used to live in NJ and they have stickers too. I was lucky with my last car, the dealer I got it from traded with a dealer in PA, and I guess they just forgot to put the name on it cause it had no sticker. I could take it off if I wantd to, but it doesn't bother me that much.

My car just came with license plate frames with the dealer's name on it, no stickers, so I don't care. But my parents bought a car from them about 8 months later and it had stickers, so I guess they started doing it shortly after I got mine. I know if mine had stickers, I'd take them off. I hate stickers on my car

Yes, I also think it is strange. Here in CA, there only place I've seen that does that is CarMax.

Just tell the dealer you'll only buy the car if they take off that label. Then watch how fast they tear that sucker off. :p

Congrats, Toyotas rock. We had an '04 Scion Xa which we really loved but I already have a small car ('03 MINI Cooper) so we traded it in for a pretty tricked out (hehe) 2006 Rav4 which we love even more and plan on keeping for quite a while.

As far as the auto vs. manual debate goes, the oft quoted argument about manuals being better on gas mileage is no longer a valid point. Automatic transmissions have evolved to the point that they are pretty efficient and the gas mileage is pretty close now. Also, not everyone that has a manual drives it efficiently and it's completely possible to get better gas mileage from an automatic because of this. That said, my MINI is manual because I think it's more fun to drive a manual around town. But the Rav4 is auto and it's nice to not have to shift especially on long trips.

Those decals are easily removed and the dealer will remove them when requested to do so. You can have them removed after you buy the car by going to the service center to get an oil change or whatnot.

Good choice.

Dodges quality has gone to hell. :/

Our 93' Caravan is still running smoothly after almost 300k miles on it, with the original engine and transmission. He just eats gas like crazy. >.>'

That and it's really really easy to do it yourself. That's the first thing I do with a car is take off that stupid name

I have a 1990 toyota celica and it still runs like a dream. No major repairs done to it except like replace the alternator and the cv boot joints but that's expected after time. The car is still getting about 28 miles per gallon

Except last night I hit a damn racoon at 55mph and that kinda cracked a part of my front bumper. That really ruined my night

Uh... you have a brand new car that already has license plates? I guess they have the prisoners working overtime in Virgina... in California it usually takes a couple months to get the plates.

I bought a car and they had the new plates ready in 3 days here in NY, lol.

How exactally do you go about removing them? Goo Gone? Even though it doesn't really bother me It would be nice to take it off.

It is better done as a DIY project, since the dealer employed moron they have do it may scratch the hell out of the paint.

Happens quite a bit.

Better to do it yourself, because you actually care whether you scratch the paint, while they do not.

Congrats on the purchase of your new car todd2000! :)

Toyotas are great cars. You will not regret your purchase.

Also, I've found that always taking the car to a Toyota dealership for repairs and maintenance can be very beneficial.

Yes , Toyata does make good, dependable cars.

Although, I personally happen to be a Honda/Accura fan. :)

The one thing I would recommend if you want to keep the car for a long time is to change to synthetic motor oil like Mobil One. The engine will go forever on that stuff.

Anyone know if Toyota dealers offer synthetic? I would like to take it to the dealer for maintenance, especially while still under warranty. Im almost wondering if it has synthetic in it already, since they recommend oil changes every 5000 miles.

California DMV is moving a lot faster these days. I bought my car about 1.5 months ago, i had my plates in around 3.5 weeks. I know in some states (MA for sure is one of them) that your plates are issued right at the dealer, no paper plates at all.

To the OP, congratulations nice looking car it will last you forever :)

As a California resident, I used to see the same thing with the only exception I can recall being BMW of San Francisco. However, I recently bought a vehicle iin San Jose and the dealer had put there logo on it. Had 'em take it off before I signed the contract. The dealer branding looked tacky and they're not paying me to advertise on their behalf. :D

Automatic vs. manual transmission?? Personally, I feel that I have much more control over a car with a manual transmission than one with an automatic. In my six-speed equipped car, I can drive much faster in in more control with the manual than in my automatic-equipped car. There's a "connected" feel to the road that isn't present with an automatic. Of course, we Americans are now more concerned with cupholders and DVD players in our cars than we are by performance, hence the popularity of brain-dead cars instead of fun-to-drive vehicles. I mean, how can you drink your super-sized soft-drink, eat your double-size cheese burger, talk on your cell phone and drive with a manual??

Additionally, one generally sees much better performance and lower maintenance costs on economy car with a manual transmission. I recently had the mis-fortune or renting a small, compact sedan with an automatic and nearly got killed a few times pulling into traffic, forgetting that the automatic was robbing the car of what little power it had.

anyway - to the original poster, congratulations on your purchase! I've owned a Toyota truck and it was darn near indestrcutible. And yes, it had a 5-speed manual transmission. :)

Yeah I hate dealer branding. I got lucky the dealer ship I got my Spec V from didnt put it on there. My old car had it and the prevous owner never removed it so I rip it off with in the first week. Both my brother and sister car had stupid dealer branding on them. Biggest pain in the rear is removing the glue left on from the branding (and depending on what type they do).

i discovered 409 is a really good way to remove any type of glue off a car (that be winshield stickers or dealer branding).

I used to work at a dealership and we would just peel off the stickers or pry off the plastic badges with your hands. Don't take a tool to the paint job of your car lol. The badges are hel only by adhesive snd we used an antiadhesive thing to get goo off. However, this wasnt really an issue with the badges but more with the goo left behind from stickers on the winshield and such

Since you resurected this thread.... I just went outside on day when it was like 95, and just peeled it off no chemicals whatsoever. It seemed to be made out of the same material as Electricle Tape, and left no resedue. Eveyones right it looks better without it. No all I have to do is get some siler License plates frames to replace the dealer ones. BTW Im loving the car so far!

Some of us don't find driving fun. If I wanted to have fun on the road, I would buy a motorcycle or go off-roading. I have a car to get me from point a to point b. Sometimes I travel a great distance to visit family. I want cupholders to hold a water or a cup of tea/coffee while I'm on my way. Sure, I could drink at home, then stop somewhere on the way for a drink if I didn't have a cup holder so I could have "fun" driving

I want comfort and ease of use/convenience in my car. I'm glad there are choices - mac/pc, manual/auto, dem/republican, coke/pepsi... whatever, you don't have to put down people who drive automatics as fastfood eating, lazy, boring people.
