You obviously don't know me. As my wife says I have no filter, I say what most people are thinking.

I agree tattoo is class, but probably a different class than you think.

No...you say what you are thinking.

There is a certain arrogance in assuming that you are saying what others are thinking, as you have no idea what others are thinking...and there is always that outside, remote, possibility that there might conceivably be others who do not share your opinion.

I know it's hard to believe...but there it is...

Well, this was a fun thread to read this morning.

As for the tattoo.. I'm on the fence.

I think it's a little on the weird side, but not as weird as a lot of tattoos i've seen. As someone who visits this forum frequently, I can understand and better process the love that some people have for Steve Jobs. However, it would be interesting to see what your average, everyday person who isn't aware that there is this whole sub-culture of Apple nerds thinks.

At the end of the day, it's your body and if you are truly pleased with the tattoo, it's not my place to make judgments on it.

Full disclosure: I am a female and I have 1 tattoo on my wrist. Sometimes I wish it weren't there and sometimes I'm happy I have it.

Is it a bullet proof wrist band? I'll bet it's hot!

Agreed, I think it's a bit out there, but don't think the OP came here seeking
approval from strangers about his tattoos, I can appreciate the work,
whether or not I, or others agree that Steve Jobs is worthy of that particular kind of elevation.

This is at best 2 out of ten in terms of whacky tattoos, body art,, dress style, out there.

Well crap, now I am really questioning my decision. I obviously didn't think of all my choices.

I do have another wrist..

Girl power decades ahead of time is somewhere in virtue between the
cool kid who never grew up and took responsibility on one arm,
and the nerd whom is now fit to lead a nation on the other.

I'd like to believe Jobs just didn't have enough time here believing
that he wouldn't be here for ever, or he'd wake up one day,
set an example, and clean up some areas his company is detrimental.

I've kept out of this one for a while as I knew there was going to be hundreds upon hundreds of 'art' vs 'disfigurement' arguments.

At the end of the day it's completely down to personal choice. If the OP was truly inspired & encapsulated in Jobs' character then let the poor bloke have a portrait tattooed on his arm. I don't think he'd make such a bold decision without putting A LOT of thought into it (unless he's wrong in the head) & as long as he's happy with it - then who's to tell him otherwise?

To level the playing field I personally think it's absolutely horrific, I think portraits are nye-on impossible draw on a sheet of paper, let alone on someone's skin. It looks like someone smashed his head in with a hammer & the eyes/nose area (arguably he's most distinguishable area) is completely off, but that's totally beside the point.

I'm not against tattoos at all. I'm more into the subtle, 'only noticeable when you're actually looking' kind but again, as I said is completely and utterly down to ME, only only ME. I personally would've gone with something less 'prominent' and going with the Jobs idea, maybe have 'Here's to the crazy ones' or something along those lines.

(A lot smaller than this ;))

A side note to the OP - you can't go posting on the most an anonymous place in the world - the internet without expecting some sort of a rebuttal. Enjoy your tattoo, I just hope you'll think you made the right choice in 50 years time.

The whole point of tattoos to many is that there is no turning back, no opportunity for regret, no do-overs. They're more permanent than many marriages. They age with us while reminding us of our past lives and dreams. They're some of the most personal decisions we've ever made.

So, people are scared of them.

Also- I don't know any people with just one tattoo. It's either "I want more." or "No thanks."

I am 23 years old and I'm covered in tattoos. I understand a lot of you probably DON'T have tattoos... you are probably not 23, you are probably against tattoos, you probably work for someone else or are in a line of work where you think the tattoos will affect your life negatively...

Or you just don't dig 'em. Print fancy **** onto your t-shirts and have a new "tattoo" every day, http://www.zazzle.com has got you covered.

Here's one:

Faux Adam Samberg sold separately.

Wow that is quite the tattoo. I'm all for doing whatever makes you happy as long as you're not doing anything illegal, immoral or hurting someone else. So more power to you OP!

But I have to ask though did you ever consider just getting one of his famous quotes instead lol?

Been a Mac-owner since I was a little boy... now I fix them for a living!

Steve Jobs really inspired me, so I started a tech sleeve and he was the first piece! I thought people here would be interested :D

Any place but here or there....
...

I have no issues with the OPs choice (it is a nice tattoo. I've seen people get portraits of family members, beloved animals, celebrities and pop culture characters.)

I love tattoos, but have been warned against getting any due to chronic illness. I've listened to the warnings thus far. I had a couple of mature female friends who first got tattooed when they were at least 40 (or in one friends' case, 63.)

The design ideas I had almost 30 years ago are still appealing to me today so had I gone ahead with my design choices, I would still be happy (My interests go in cycles and always return to what I loved as young girl/teenager.) Ironic, considering how indecisive I am these days.

I do not question the reasons why the OP got it, he loves Apple and works for them in repair, so he's happy = works for me.
