How is the screen on the new macbook air?

The IPS screens on the new Macbook Pros are absolutely gorgeous. Apple really hyped that those were IPS screens.

I see no mention of IPS screens in the new Macbook Airs. I really hope that the screens are of similar quality because the Macbook Pros (especially the 15 in) have lust-worthy displays :D

No macbook pros have IPS screens. They have great screens, but they are TN screens. The iphone 4 has an IPS screen.

You can make a good screen using any technology. IPS just has wider viewing angles, but I don't think it's miraculously better than the TN screens.

Welcome to flash on mac.

Both were on my Vaio TT. I would try it on my old CD MBP and 10.4, but my sister is using that machine now. But, one could easily install windows(or linux) either under fusion, vmware, or bootcamp to get the better flash performance windows users are getting, no? Or just use 480p youtube if HD version isn't working well.

Have you managed to test imovie as of yet on the machine?

Really interested on how it handles HD video editing with imovie:)

No stand by light I can see but it does have the green isight light, to the right of it..... there doesn't appear to be a space for it so must shine through.

Does it have an IR sensor for the remote?

No

Not the best test, as my old Macbook (2.16 GHz C2D, 2GB DDR2 ram, 320GB hard drive) with the Intel GMA 950 integrated graphics can play it at 720p, full screen, without issues, only my fans spinning at full speed.

Now, Apple has a site with HD videos, most of them in 1080p. The link is: http://www.apple.com/br/quicktime/guide/hd/
Most of those videos will run like a powerpoint presentation when I try to video them in 1080p. It will drop frames, play scenes choppy, and my machine will sound like it's ready to blast off down a runway.
This video in particular will make my Macbook cry: http://www.apple.com/br/quicktime/guide/hd/bbc-nhk.html

Is your computer broken?

I just played the 1080p Japan link on my 5 year old C2D MBP, and I am getting flawless performance, no lags, and surprisingly my fans didn't even come on.

Something tells me you're lying :p

FYI, my 4-year-old Macbook Core Duo 2GHZ w/GMA950 can play that 1080p video almost flawlessly, fullscreen on an external 20" Cinema Display, once the video has been downloaded completely.

The 11" MBA looks lovely by the way. :) I wonder whether it would feel faster or slower than my machine (also using an SSD) in practice. At least I could order it with 4GB of RAM, whereas currently I'm limited to 2GB.
