Blue is allegedly a good "calming" color for bedroom to get good sleep. Various posts online about it.

So go blue, plus its a color your wife likes.

I want a warmer color… red or yellow.
Red is not a choice, but Pink is. Is it the one you're referring to? She doesn't like it?

What color is your walls, your furniture, your bed cover ? You should make it fit somehow, otherwise it'll be strange IMO.

It's been proven that the more purple you put in your bedroom, the more action you're gonna get. Can't be a wrong choice. 😉

This is causing fights every time I bring it up. Just got done arguing about it all
morning and now she is being passive aggressive and isolating.

We plan on purchasing an iMac for the bedroom when the new M4s come out.
My wife wants a cool color… purple, blue, or green. I want a warmer color… red or yellow.
Not orange.

Anyone married that can think of a system of choosing that is neutral and will make us both content? Thanks!

I would go back one step -- why are you putting an iMac in the bedroom? Does someone want to sit at a desk while the other sleeps? I am generally against TV and computers in the bedroom and would just leave computers to the office, den, etc.

Second, now that this has become a thing, what do you think the future will hold when everytime either of you go into the bedroom you will see this object with all this emotional baggage and one of you actively dislikes?

Third, is everything in your home decided equally or does each have their domains? Often I see women get kitchens and bathrooms, the bedroom, and the living room and/or dining room. Don't worry you get the garage and possibly an office or den or basement and probably the mortgage. Seriously, a lot of women intertwine their identities and their home/decor. How much of your identity is tied to the color of this iMac? On the other hand, did she already decorate the bedroom? If so don't make a giant inkspot on her painting.

But at this point especially I would reboot the conversation and take this whole idea of the computer out of the bedroom.

Yellow 💛 at least that's the one I would go for after watching this (looks like gold):

We have all the colors at work. The pink and orange are very similar. Most people at work call them both pink, although the orange is more of a salmon.

There's no true red.

So that may help.

Green is my favorite. It just brings the calm. I like the blue too.

How is this even turning into a fight? You guys need to sit down and talk about your priorities with love, life and things that are more important than a piece of tech.

Actually I don’t think Apple is going to release iMac M4 this year.
I think they skip the iMac M4 and releasing iMac M5 next year, or whenever it comes.

I’ve heard of marriages breaking up for all kinds of silly reasons but never about the “color” of a computer that hasn’t even been released.
Brings some things into perspective.

I think I might actually have the solution though...if you already have a neutral iMac somewhere else in the house; move it into your bedroom. then buy a different color for the room you took it from.

Function over form, my friend. Function over form. Let her choose the color, and you spec it the way you want it. The only time I'm picky about colors if it's going to be solely mine to use.

Now, wading into controversy: I loathe the phrase, "Happy wife, happy life". That's a recipe for a one-sided marriage, something I (and many others) have little interest in. Compromise is the key to a good marriage, not caving in to her (or his) every demand. Like others said, choose your battles wisely. This one doesn't seem that significant to me.
(Thirty-four years of marriage here, for the record)
