Looking good! Have you got leopard to run on that yet?
Very nice work! I've been following this thread, and the progress makes me want to go ahead and try my hand at xMac-ing. I was thinking of making a sort of PMG5/MP Minitower, with the little handle feet.
Who knows... But certainly, as you have shown us, "where there's a will there's a way!"
Not yet, I need to make sure Tiger runs ok on it first before I can go ahead with Leopard
All the hardware seems to running fine, no signs of overheating, I haven't stress tested it properly yet, but the Pentium isn't exactly the hottest chip ever...
Wait for the Atom proccesors to come out first, or search for the Pico ITX motherboard
From what I've read, I doubt that Atom chips are going to be available to end users nor that motherboard builders will be building Atom compatible motherboards. The chip is designed for ultra-mobile applications like smartphones/PDAs/UMPCs, not for personal system building.Wait for the Atom proccesors to come out first

Installing leopard is proving more difficult than it was with Tiger, plus, my girlfriends here, expect delays...

I have a bunch of Leopard OSx86 tutorials that tell you all the details and help with problems if you want linkage tell me (im at school now so I cant really get all the URLs).
What problems are you running into?
What kind of motherboard is it?
It doesn't matter if it worked in Tiger. It depends on the distro you are using. For example I use Kalyway and you use leo4all. It has to do with using the proper kexts for the device. If you can tell me what kind of motherboard it is, we should be able to find the proper kext.
Ok so, I've put the entire thing together, and I mean, completely, par the acrylic, gotta get some 2mm screws for the front plate, I think my dads going to have to drill them, very very fiddly stuff, but still, I doubt he'll ever get it done so in about a weeks time I'll probably do it...
Pictures showing tidbits that I've been doing to follow:
1: Overview of the top without CD tray
2: CD tray, I added some fans as the wireless card and the PSU
3: IR sensor connected to the USB hub
4: Bluetooth adapter
5: Wireless PCI card
Ok, looks like I'm going to have to give up on this one...
I've tried virtually every distro out there but I keep getting intermittent boot freezes, I've tried all the different kernels too.
None of my PCI cards are recognising, (even with the updated PCI drivers), my PCI usb card fails to show up, my "mac compatible" (which turned out to be BS) wireless PCI card doesn't work.
Couple that with OSX86 completely failing to boot on one hard drive and I think I'm ready to leave this project.
I'm going to spend the rest of today trying to get this xMac to boot but I think it's become a lost cause.
EDIT: Looks like the motherboards ethernet port was causing the freezes, I've disabled it, seems to be running ok now...
ok, I think I got it working, no wireless still though, trying to get an old dlink USB stick to work, used to work on tiger, but not leopard
Looks like you are close!
Whatever you do, dont give up! You are close to finishing! Imagine if Steve Wozniak gave up!
