I installed the card a while ago in my iMac and it works great when I boot into Windows 7. Of course I want it to work in OSX too but I am not confident with the building and stuff. Link

Is there no way to just click and install in OSX yet and does the driver work for Snow Leopard?

thanks! :D
will bookmark that site and try to install the driver if a binary does'nt come out in the next few days.

This just in for people wanting Crystal cards from a reliable source...

C/o Davilla at XBMC:
'Good news for those interested in CrystalHD cards, LogicSupply is offering a $10 discount for XBMC users, use "XBMC10" as the discount code when purchasing.'

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but does anyone know a way to retain WiFi after installing the broadcom chip? Prehaps a USB wifi dongle? I can connect via ethernet but what about my iphone remotes that use WiFi?

EDIT 3: OK, this patchstick crap is really a pain. In the old days (like 2 years ago) I just had to do two things to get XBMC to work on my Apple TV. The first was to put XBMCLauncher.frappliance into its proper place:

/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/PlugIns

Then I only had to put XBMC into the Applications folder of OSBoot. (There might have been one other frappliance, something about the menu?). Is this how it's still done? If so, can someone direct me to the XBMCLauncher (and menu if applicable)??

I assume nothing other than the Feb 15 XBMC build is necessary to activate the CrystalHD card?

Is the screen saver bug still present in the current XBMC build?

I've tried the patchstick method before with two different flash drives and both failed. I'll give it another try, though. Is this the correct one:

atvusb-creator-1.0.b10.zip

Also, this will not screw up my system by looking for an external USB hard drive, right?

EDIT: I just noticed this ATV Creator has version 2 software. Does it work the the ATV 3.0.2?

EDIT 2: I just tried building and I get the following:

Downloading 2Z694-5573-24.dmg...
Download failed: HTTP Error 404: Not Found
You can try again to resume your download

I guess apple moved the 10.4 combo package you need - it's still on their website tho, put you have to download it manually and point creator at it:

Cave Man, If you want to fall back to an earlier firmware (f/w) version, you can get the f/w dmg files from the link below. Found this in the atvusb-creator "forums".

BTW, I'm still using ATV 3.01 while awaiting all the early adapters feedback. Waiting a little longer will allow me to perform the eSata upgrade - the disk has been ordered from Newegg. So, after it arrives, and I test out the mod, I'll update to 3.02, re-apply the atvusb and update Boxee to the latest Beta.

Which link? I didn't see anything posted from "TheStork".

I had a 3.0.1 ATV disk built, but the patchstick wouldn't work on it. It starts, but then stalls with a failed unmount of OSBoot. If I knew of all the necessary files that need to be installed, and their locations, it would be easy to mod the drive on my computer.

It turns out that if you use the default configuration on ATVusb-creater, you get the latest f/w automatically. You only need to use my previous links if you want to use an earlier f/w version.

BTW, I noticed that ATVusb-creater program has updated their "patchstick" program to v1.0b13. (Dunno why it's still a beta, but I gave up caring about this trend in s/w long ago.)

BTW2, I took delivery of a Western Digital 1TB Black (7200 rpm) series a couple of days ago. With the eSata parts in hand and an external enclosure, I'm building up courage to mod my ATV using dynaflash's tutorial and s/w. Wish me luck. Oh, given that this drive is on 24/7 and a 7200 rpm drive which generates some serious heat, what drive are you using - green or standard hard drive? Do you leave your ATV on 24/7?

Hmmm. I didn't mean to imply I had a post there, but the latest 3.02 firmware dmg file is listed for download at that link. Use the link, then scroll to the top of the page. There you'll see a list of all the ATV s/w versions for download. Download the version you need - latest is 3.02.

It doesn't matter which firmware version you use to create a patchstick. There is NO difference.

Can anyone that has been using this card and XBMC give some comments on how it has been working for you? I'm considering picking one up to do some experimenting of my own, but wanted to see how it was working for others before I did so.

Also, if I understand correctly, CrystalHD support has not been added to the new Boxee Beta, so XBMC SVN is the only supported solution, correct? While I'm not completely sold on adding another interface to my AppleTV (as I have a lot of iTunes-purchased content), I may be willing to deal with it as long as the benefits outweigh the negatives.

XBMC nightlies have been on hiatus for some time now as they've been merging their Add-Ons branch. And building my own doesn't help as the Crystal stuff is on its own branch, which if I got off my lazy butt I guess I could merge. :) The last svn before they shut down the nightlies was 28256 which id statused here. You'll notice he hasn't updated the status in over a month so you have to know/hope some progress has been made since then.

Real world for me is 720p's (even high profile) have not been a problem. I only have a couple of 1080p's and they do have problems (i.e. High@L5.0).

On another note for ATV/XBMC users will be the addition of DDS artwork (fanart, etc) that they added to the svn's. Fanart now snaps in immediately. I'm really looking forward to their 10.05 release!

Sorry, don't know anything about Boxee as I don't use it.
