Apart from the notification issues I’m suffering, when I do get a notification and open the mail app I have to then wait for the emails (exchange) to appear and download rather than them being downloaded when the notification comes through. Does anyone else have this issue. I tried Outlook and had the same issue which is weird and likely connected to a common bug.

I listened to Accidental Tech Podcast last night and they were massively complaining about iOS13 and mail so at least Apple should be aware...

I have an Outlook.com set as Microsoft Exchange account.

Since iOS 13.... when I press the trash bin icon.... the delete animation happens.... but the email is still there...appears again and I have to delete it again.

Or maybe I’m viewing 5 emails.... I delete number 1, then number 2, then number 3, then number 1 appears again and I have to delete it again, then number 4 appears and I delete it, then number 5 appears and I delete it.

I have tried to remove and add again the account.... but nothing. Still happening.

Has anyone experience this issue? Thx

BTW.... since all Outlook.com (@hotmail.com, @msn.com, @outlook.com, etc) accounts are now Exchange accounts....why does Apple still have two separate options (Microsoft Exchange & Outlook.com) when setting a Mail account instead of one for both??

This happens with my iCloud account and various IMAP accounts as well.

Im on 13.1.2 About half the time when it says I have an Exchange email I open the mail app and they are not there and have to download. they were always there in 12. Also a couple of times when I read a message on my iPhone it didn't reconcile with my Outlook inbox.

This happens to me also, and is typically accompanied by no notifications to Apple Watch.

I don't think this is a bug. Mail.app has implemented Push Notifications, which was done earlier by Outlook and the gang.
Earlier mail.app was purely Fetch or Push, which is why a badge would appear only when the mail was downloaded inside mail.app.
Now the badges are pushed (almost in realtime, but issues with 2 way sync not happening in realtime) when the mail is received on the imap server. This seems to be a way out used by Apple instead of IMAP IDLE, which Apple's research has always proved to be battery consuming.

Geez I had my Pro Max since the release day and just now noticed my alert tone was off after reading this thread. Lol

I’m not getting any sent mail (swoosh) sound when sending emails under iOS 13, including on an iPhone 7 Plus I set up as new.

Sometimes I get sound for new mail notifications and sometimes not (also sometimes the notifications themselves disappear).

Edit: Apparently Apple changed it so the sent sound doesn’t occur when in DND. That’s either a change from iOS 12 or a bug.

Have you guys tried using Spark or mail service providers’ own apps (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc.), instead of trying to fix unfixable?

I have also been having issues with mail in the native app, I use multiple accounts of hotmail gmail and AOL ( Yea I know lol 😂) and in my case it constantly fails to sync until you open the app unless its on charge, I have checked background sync and checked all the sync settings with push for hotmail and a fetch time of 15 mins not automatic yet despite everything at least 50% of the time it fails even with icloud mail, never had an issue with IOS 12 it ran perfectly. I finally found a cure this week, what I did was delete all accounts from phone, go to app store, download outlook, install all accounts to outlook, delete stock mail app, come to conclusion Apple cant code, put the kettle on and make cup of tea, watch emails arrive in timely fashion 😀

My X on 13.1.1 - Mail app always opens to one message in the inbox. It's a recent thing. I normally open to the Inbox with a list of messages. iCloud account only.

Odd.
Similar issue. Sometimes my email opens to all inboxes, sometimes it opens to an individual account. Sometimes I don’t notice which Inbox it opened too and wonder where the “new” email is hiding.

I have the same issue. IMAP accounts actually creating thousands of copies at he server side after every IOS upgrade. I have access to my server and see that my email box just grew exponentially. I am currently on with Apple support. She put me on hold. This is getting a nightmare. I have another device with IOS 12 on there and everything works like a chardm (same accounts, same settings)

@GMHDI , interesting that it's creating copies.

I'm having an issue (which I emailed a video to MacRumors, will see if they post) where the badge icon says I have 1,000+ unread emails, I open Mail (which defaults to unread mailbox) and see like 3 messages. It will constantly cycle through "downloading 3 messages, downloading 5 messages, downloading 2 messages, etc." with random numbers (usually <10 at a time) with the status bar progressing, then disappearing, then reappearing with the next downloading messages notice.

If I delete an email, it will reduce the unread badge count by several hundred at a time. Deleted emails in this instance will reappear.

When I get home and use my iMac or MacBook, I will see the message again (even if it was previously deleted on my iPhone). If I delete it on my Mac, I'm often asked "are you sure you want to delete 3,355 messages?" or something similar with one email being reported as several thousand emails. Sometimes macOS Mail will crash from all this.

One thing that I do have is numerous rules to highlight certain messages (financial institutions green, work red, daughter's school pink, etc.). I also have a few rules to make sure that some emails are never put in the junk folder. I was getting "unable to move to inbox" errors with MIME codes. I turned off all rules tonight to see if it helps.

Like others, I too frequently delete an email on my iPhone only to have it reappear and require that I hit the delete button again.

iOS 13 seems like it's in alpha testing and not ready for production. I feel like it was rushed without quality testing or at least paying attention to feedback received.

I only use the imap protocol with mail and are not experiencing any of these issues. I suspect they are more protocol related opposed to something inherently wrong with the mail app.

I am also having Mail App issues on the latest ios 13. I had none of these problems on ios 12.

We have two companies. One with exchange 2010 on premise and another with Office 365 both using Apple iphone mail app. Here are our problems:

Emails showing twice in sent items but only sending once.
Forwarding emails arrive to recipient but no content in email.
Empty trash but emails come back in about 5 minutes and have to go on computer to delete.
Create draft, cancel draft, save draft. Draft is missing in Draft folder.
Highlighting emails seems sporadic. You can highlight an email to delete and then highlight goes away and you don't know what email is being highlighted.
Notification shows you have new emails on desktop. Go to Inbox and see blue dot signifying new email but don't open it. Go back to main screen, notification goes away. Go to Inbox and blue dot is not there even though you never tapped on the new email to read.

Went to Apple store. Backed up iphone, restored iphone with up to date software and firmware. Started with the default iphone and created mail account. Same problems as above. Also did a complete restore and still same problems.
Talked with Apple support a month ago and they still have no fix.
HELP!!!

I spoke to apple senior advisor who contacted the engineers regarding freezing of mail and other issues with exchange and outlook.com accounts. Apple engineers have advised that the mail is working fine. I would need to get in touch with microsoft to get this sorted because it is their servers which needs to get updated and sorting out. Good luck that we will ever see this getting fixed.

Same here. when i mentioned that, he said everything is ok from our side and engineers are not aware of any known problems. We all know what the reply means!
