Navigon 1.2 - Where are you?

"Apple has rejected a software update for the popular "Navigon" GPS app because during testing it pronounced a street name incorrectly which according to Apple would cause the user to be confused. The Navigon developers are working on a fix and the app would be resubmitted soon."

Funny thing is, I bought a Garmin Nuvi for someone about 6 months ago, and it has TTS in there. Well, I went on a drive with this person, and I have to say that some of the TTS was horrid! I don't mean mispronouncing names, but things like, "turn right on Jackson Doctor" - instead of "Jackson Drive". I'm hoping Navigon does better than that, because that was just insanely bad programming right there!

By chance do you have it set to the Australian or British female? I had this problem on a Garmin using one or the other.
It was the North American version of the device, and it was set to whatever was the default. I didn't think to check the voice. I will take a look next time I see this person.

I think we will probably see TMC in 1.3, I'm hoping they put in MyRoutes this year too.
1) yea I think I will buy the tomtom car kit, because of the many features it wil have.
2) also I think 1.3 will have TMC, but it would be cool if it had city view

Really, I thought it was announced that he tomtom car kit will work with all 3rd party apps? Meaning if you have copiolet or navigon it will work with them. I am assuming that when u plug the phone in it automatically uses the car kit gps ( just my speculation I could be wrong). If you are right I hope navigon releases a car kit that will rival tomtoms.
LoL, I suppose you are right, I don't know much or anything about programming... LoL.
It doesn't bode well for Apple's approval process that I thought this was actually possible, and didn't get the joke.

I would but I'm coming from Kentucky and would never drive that far without TTS and the ability to control my iPod functions from within a GPS app. Guess I'll have to wait until the update...which would negate the need for the trip. Damn catch 22!!!
Perhaps Apple is holding it back for the release of iPhone OS 3.1? I've heard a few mentions that some bugs related to the GPS API and third party apps is fixed in 3.1.
Maybe we'll see a timed release of iPhone OS 3.1 and a whole bunch of third party apps tomorrow. Maybe even one of the new announcements will be an improved approval process for app developers. /can only hope
