seems the only one which isn't out is the one for europe then (typically the one i have!).... even australia has been updated!

Navigon is now perfect

Update 1.2 has made Navigon perfect.

Damn, I wish it were a woman because I would marry it!

What a great day, it's finally here! Will be home in about an hour to do the download!

Looking forward to hearing first impressions!

Where is tunnelrunner?

Probably in a corner somewhere crying.

He's no doubt a TomTom employee.

Came out an hour ago, check the app store forum page. I just took it on a spin to mcdonalds, i like the new ladies announcing voice much better, the iPod function works nicely and the automatic day/night mode is cool. It announced all the streets decently. Great update!

Any news if you now have the option to disable voice when playing music?

New Navigon voice

megapopular, I like the new lady's voice better too.

I suspect the previous one died of lung cancer before they could get her to do the new recordings.

Being the inpatient person that I am, I couldn't wait until tomorrow to test drive the update. I couldn't be happier with it!! The new voice is very pleasant and in my short drive it did a good job of pronouncing the street names.

The night mode was on without me having to select it, and the iPod controls are conveniently located and available.

My decision to purchase Navigon at the sale price of $69.00 is turning out to be a good decision.

It's been fun obsessing about when the new release would be out, and now it's here!

I have noticed that the voice is softer now, so I had to increase the volume. but that's the only quirk. It works perfectly, and the iPod controls are nicely done.

Oh, I did notice that when I tried to change from a song to a podcast, it said that I didn't have any loaded. I have over 300, so there was a glitch somewhere. I just exited Navigon and went into the iPod function, then went back into Navigon, like I used to.

downloaded the UK version now although full postcodes dont seem to be there:mad:
It was never supposed to be in 1.2 - they announced what features were going to be in 1.2 quite a while ago. They've said full postcode search will follow in a future update, and TMC (traffic) is also supposed to be coming - but there's been no announcement yet from Navigon as to whether either (or both) of these will be in the very next one. They seem to be bringing out these updates pretty regularly though so hopefully won't be too long before they are added.

For me full postcodes are important for the work I do, so as yet this app wont replace my stand-alone sat-nav, but very happy with the way things are going with the app, it seems to work very well. :)

So I tested out Navigon's update last night for about 7 miles and the trip to work this morning, about 10 miles.

I can say that I enjoy the new TTS voice even better. Sounds less evasive, more natural-speaking of the language, and forms better grammatical sentences than my Garmin with TTS does.

Some minor issues; it started running slow when using up all the RAM when I was trying to do route planning, and when it did that it reset all of the settings, so I had to turn iPod integration back on, TTS back on, etc.

Also, it announces about .3 - .2 miles before your turn, and about 500 feet before your turn it announces again, but this time adding the sentence name onto the announcement means that it's just beginning to say the street name at the 500 feet turn and by the time it finishes you're already .1 mile down the street you just turned on, so may be improve announcement times to accomodate for the street names now included in the announcements.

Those are two very minor things however; the iPod integration is a lil odd (almost like creating a temporary playlist), but it is probably something on Apple's end that they had to create a work-around, and it is still AMAZING and much better than having to shut down the application!

I can say that although it does slow some times, Navigon works great on my iPhone 3G, 16GB.

Can't wait to see contact address format update so that it can recognize contact addresses without having to put the Address # on Address Line 1 and the actual road name on Address Line 2, and Traffic will be an AMAZING addition.

Also it is still lacking detailed, written-out step-by-step directions "mapquest style" that some like to read before navigating (especially on a less-than-flavorable iPhone GPS chip), but hopefully that will be in a future update as well.

Keep it up Navigon!

I like the new voice better as well. Instead of feeling like I was going to be handed an oatmeal cookie, I feel like I should splash on some aftershave.

I connect my iPhone to my stereo via USB, so my controls are done through my car stereo, so the new iPod control won't do much for me.

In the couple of small trips I've used it so far, I'm very pleased.

Totally agree with the above changes. I hope these are things that are implemented in a future release.

"Postcode for Navigon" just appeared on the App Store. Seems to be the missing link for postcodes? Works well for me.

does this app need a really good 3g connection? or would I be alright if I only had edge for a part of the commute?

It doesn't requie ant cell connection. I just took a 2 hour mountain drive with no cell service. It relies on the GPS chip in your phone as the primary source of position info. Cellular and wi-fi signals are also used but are not needed.

Also, in case it isn't clear to the person asking the question, the maps are stored locally on the device. Navigon references those maps (as opposed to Google Maps which would require a cell signal).

That's really cool, I'm seriously considering buying this now. Thanks a lot for the info guys.

I totally recommend Navigon. I bought it shortly after it hit the iTunes store and have never regretted it. I previously had a Garmin Nuvi, and I actually like Navigon better, especially since 1.2 was released. I'm also looking forward to the update in October which will provide real time traffic conditions.

This weekend, in my first trip with the app outside of SoCal, I drove from Long Beach to Las Vegas in the mid afternoon (meaning 100°+ weather the whole way), using Navigon and the iPod together. It took me just about four hours, including one ten minute stop for my dog to do his business, and I ended up in Vegas with a fully charged iPhone. :)

I have a dedicated USB charger that connects through my stereo, and I don't know if that matters, but I do know that I was completely happy with both the navigation and the performance as a whole. It didn't lose signal once, it warned me at the correct times, and generally performed significantly better than my stand-alone Magellan.
