When I read something like this, it makes me wonder why I stuck with High Sierra so long, the longest of any Mac OS. I'm still going to do Mojave, but Catalina looks like a tightrope walk even at this point, especially for a Mac Pro 4,1 even with the 5,1 firmware installed and all the WIFI and bluetooth and SSD upgrades. Seems way too risky if supported machines are this poorly supported. This is going to be Tim Cook's legacy. Bean counter who let software development falter under his watch.

LOL. Catalina was pretty stable for me until all this happened. I'm running 10.15.4 on my MBP and all is fine.

Maybe my comparison is overly critical from reading too many disaster stories that few people may have, but I don't I think I've ever had a High Sierra crash or freeze and I never reboot my Mac Pro 4,1 unless there's a security update so maybe my standards are too high or I'm spooled. I was overly worried about Mojave, but now that I have Metal and the key upgrades that don't require .kext add-ons to be compatible, I'm fairly confident that Mojave will be fine to do now, but I'm still scared about Catalina as I still have a lot of 32 bit apps too, so there might be a bit too much pain in this update. Since I don't want an iMac or an laptop, I'm kind of stuck until people start selling used current model Mac Pro's used cheaply which won't be very soon. It's clear that it was Steve Jobs dying wish that there would never again be a lower priced Mac Pro ever again. :(
