I've been quite amused reading the various justifications people have listed in this thread. I think my favorite was the guy with the Macbook Air saying he wants an iPad for the added portability. lol
What's more comfortable when sitting, looking straight at an angled screen or leaning forward and looking directly down at a screen? Of course it occurred to me to lay the iPad down flat on the table and look down. It's stupid though. I read books at a breakfast table that way, but if I had a stand that would prop the book up and hold the pages open for me it would be way better!
I use LogMeIn on my iPhone and have it set up with about a dozen computers that I need to access when called up for support. Having LogMeIn on the iPad (running at native iPad resolution) is going to be amazing for me.
Sidebar; to the poster who was talking about Flash being a necessary element of his life, there's a few things there that you seem to have overlooked. First, I don't know what you're talking about with HSBC. I access HSBC everyday from my iPhone, and I've never run into any Flash login screen.
Second, Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut has an app for the iPhone that is a blast to use, looks great, and simple. Forget pizzahut.com, download the free app. The other sites you mentioned I understand as being problems, but any smart person will tell you that it's good business for sites to start porting over to mobile platforms. Hulu is eventually going to come out for the iPhone and iPad. They'd be stupid not to.
That's pretty much the only time it has an advantage over a laptop, iPhone, or desktop.
