Idk, even if they would rise the prices to 50$ some dumb people would still buy it.
I think that’s where these companies are headed. They keep looking over at how profitable Apple is even though they have the smaller marketshare over almost all the markets they are in and wondering… can we actually make a sustainable profit JUST off of people that have a decent amount of disposable income?

I wonder if they’ll continue to raise prices, swapping a larger number of low paying users with a smaller number of higher paying users that just look at the price hike and goes, “Well, not like I’m NOT going to pay for it!”

Netfilx are playing their customers for fools. They introduce a low ad free tier to try and get customers to move away from password sharing all the whilst working on T&C changes and contract changes to force customers to stop password sharing. Now the changes have been rolled out with a sudden increase in millions of $$$ in revenue being reported (MR covered this in an article recently), Netflix now stop the cheap ad free tier. You can see by the time lines that it's obvious this had all been planned for ages and Netflix are making fools out of their customers.

Oh an an important note, Netflix has always stated that they needed to stop password sharing because it was affecting their ability to provide the necessary services to it's customers. Netflix posted massive increase in revenue due to the changes the company made to password sharing so there was no need to remove the lower ad free tier because they are getting what they asked for, increase in customer sign ups. Removing the ad free tier proves one thing, what Netflix is doing is not for the purposes of paying for better services and programs but to increase it's profits so it make better payments to directors and shareholders.

Having many free loaders on the service devalues it and robs them (Netflix) of their revenue. If it’s your opinion the ad tier was bait and switch, so be it. But it’s up to each subscriber to value the worth of the service against the price of the plan. Doesn’t seem to jibe with your values.

Yes sure, but for Apple I do have alternatives. I want a mobilephone which can run App XYZ? It will likely be either iOS or a numerous Android manufacturers. What I clearly cant say for VOD-provider. Also Apple products costs (net, without taxes) more or less the same all around the world. I just don't see it right just to pay more than lets say a turkish or a pakistani guy for consuming the same stuff.
For goods within the country I can understand and do agree that they're more expensive in Switzerland than in most other countries in the world. But I doubt Netflix has so much business/inconveniences in Switzerland to justify their +50% higher price than neighbours like Germany, Italy or France, who also have a more extended movie catalogue.

So basically I should pay more for less stuff just because im Swiss? Nah. Then I'll just stick to the Turkish 130TL price per month then. Also they haven't banned account sharing there so I can still share the acc to my family.

There will always be folks that don’t have the money to pay the higher price, or that don’t think the value the service provides is worth the cost. My thinking, though, is that companies have stopped trying to go after folks that don’t think their service is worth it. They’ll just continue to raise prices and if they can keep enough people paying higher prices consistently, they could end up ahead.

To you, the 130TL price saves you money, but to Netflix, in the big picture of “raising our prices because people are likely willing to pay”, you’re still paying more than they were charging before February 2023. 39% more. Likely because Netflix is aware that, while the price may drive away some folks in Turkey, there appears to be a good number of folks outside the region paying the Turkish price such that raising it was not likely to drive those folks off!

Too bad about plex, are you trying to use the NAS as the server as well? That’s probably the issue.
I run plex on a nvidia shield that connects to my synology NAS and it amazing. 3.yrs now and faultless.

Good luck
May I ask, (I don’t know what an nvidia shield is) should I run Plex on a drive in my pc and store the media content on the NAS? Is that how I should configure it?
